I just got home from KTUphoria. I'm absolutely deaf in my right ear.
I'm uploading my video now but it's gonna take about 2 1/2 hours to upload because its HD. My camera shut itself off when he was performing Cuckoo but, fortunately, I saw it and was able to capture the band intro and ending. I also caught the crazy fan he brought up on the stage.
It was very difficult taking the video because I'm kinda short and have bum shoulders so it was difficult to hold the camera over the heads of the girls in front of me. Every time the camera catches the tops of their head or their waving arms, it goes out of focus. (My shaky hands, of course, had absolutely nothing to do with it!!!!)
Once again, every act had major sound issues. Poor K'Naan changed the song he was going to sing because of it and apologized to the audience. Other artists apologized too.
Adam was in full voice tonight even though at times he couldn't be heard over the band. Such a shame. I was lucky enough to be close enough that I could hear his voice before it hit the mike. I'm not a singer, but I do believe the backup singers are off, a lot. I hope they get that straightened out, soon.
I hope the video isn't a total waste. I haven't even reviewed it yet because I wanted to get the upload started for y'all.
Oh, just a personal opinion here, Adam needs to each a sandwich. He's very, very thin.
jesslala, thanks for checking in. But did you have fun? LOL It's like Adam fan reporting in from the field. Full time job.
What happened with the fan running up?
Why do they keep ending "Cuckoo" so abruptly. They get the audience to participate and then they just. stop.
Yes, I did have fun but taking video and trying to watch Adam is very difficult. I have taken video at each concert I've attended and I hate watching it through the camera. Tonight I tried to keep the camera on him while I watched live because I was so close. I give a lot of credit to the fans who bring us such fantastic videos from the concerts. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'll bet the ustream you watched is probably clearer than what I'm uploading. But I tried.
I really, really enjoyed Adam tonight. He was firing on all cylinders tonight and was having fun. He appeared early so the place wasn't full yet but the crowd definitely was with him all the way. He brought up a fan during Cuckoo because she kept screaming at him during her M&G and told the audience that this bitch was crazy. It was a fun moment for her and for Adam, he really enjoyed it. Yes, a lot of people left after Adam finished.
I stayed until after Enrique Inglesia finished. I was getting really claustrophic by that point because the security team was not keeping the aisles open down near the stage and the girls in front of me were now standing on their seats and I couldn't see a thing. The place was packed for these later acts. I've seen Pitpull perform--not worth fighting the crowds for.
Someone mentioned that they thought Adam et al would be staying in NYC tonight. I would think since PCN is already about halfway to Philadephelphia from NYC that they would probably go there tonight. Just a thought.
ETA It took me 5 times to post this. I had to change browsers. Is there a problem or is it me?
I returned from KTUforia a couple of hours ago and my ears are still ringing... Adam was the first artist that the whole arena stood for. When his name was announced it was beautiful to see everyone standing up. His set was phenomenal, high energy and everyone was dancing and waving. He did a set of 7 songs: TSP, Kickin In, NL, WWFM, NCOE & Cuckoo (I don't remember hearing Shady and I might be missing a song). It was really funny when the crazy girl was on the stage and he sang cuckoo to her changing the lyrics to: I think she is having a meltdown.... Teen girls around us were dancing like crazy during his set and the security let a few little girls move to the rails so they will be able to see It seems that he started a new trend as Karmin introduced the band and I heard that no one did that before... Didn't stay after Adam's set and I was not the only one going out....
Looking at the stunning pics wal brought over I keep thinking that Adam can't be real. He is so good looking, but it is much more than that. He exudes joy! Fierceness! Frivolity! Energy!
These pictures look like stills from a movie about a pop star. Then, add the vocal talent, technique, versatility and nuance and it is difficult to believe it all comes in the same package. I've said it before. It is like a remake of "A Star is Born" with a male lead instead of a female. The only thing is, Hollywood would have to get the charismatic, gorgeous, sexy actor and then dub in the vocals, cuz no actor could sing like that, and no singer could look and act like that.
****
On top of all that deliciousness, I want to add that Mr Lambert is in my view, at his core, a wise old advanced soul. And i dont see that many in showbusiness - not Elvis, MJ or Freddy.
If someone asked me why Im saying that if he does things like tackle his man to the ground on the ice, I would say I can feel it from his presence - even across pixels three thousand miles away. Who said evolved people are perfect. Adam is grappling with some issues like every single person on planet earth be it love or fame or acceptance.
But there is something in his eyes and his energy. When I first saw him - a pic of him - I thought if souls are flames, I think I'm looking at a supernova.
And overtime, if given the chance on planet earth, he will express and express, and everyone he touches will be changed by it.
Adam Lambert's second studio album is entitled Trespassing.
Adam Lambert captivated America in 2009 when he almost won American Idol. Lambert was brash, likable and glamorous, but he soon became better known for being the first openly gay Idol contender.
Though Lambert finished as the runner-up, his popularity and talent won him a recording deal. He released his second studio album, Trespassing, this week — just a few months after his 30th birthday.
"I think, for the majority of my twenties, I was always so concerned with what I didn't have, or what I still wanted," Lambert tells NPR's Guy Raz. "It was always about a chase and going after something. This year I've focused more on being thankful for what I already have — being content with what I've already accomplished, or who is already in my life, not what I've yet to find or get."
Trespassing's second single, currently making the radio rounds, is the glam-pop throwback "Never Close Our Eyes" — written by fellow pop star Bruno Mars.
"Nowadays in pop, there's not a lot of men that are singing big and loud and high — it's not as common as it once was," Lambert says. "So I got this track from Bruno and I thought, that's a great melody, great lyric — I know how I want to sing it. I want to sing it big."

Larry Flick SIRIUS Radio: Adam Lambert Interview Featuring Fan Michelle [Soundcloud]
2012-05-21 Larry Flick Interviewing Adam Lambert on S.I.R.I.U.S Featuring Michelle Scorpios4Music | 19.05 minutes Sorry I missed the very beginning, but I think most of it is here. Go! Michelle!!! soundcloud.com/scorpios4music/2012-05-21-larry-flick
Michelle @insomniac19 Okay...so here was my conversation with @adamlambert today. This all started when @larryflick DM'd a week or so (cont) www.twitlonger.com/show/hglrtv
Okay...so here was my conversation with @adamlambert today. This all started when @larryflick DM'd a week or so ago to help in promoting Adam's special this weekend. I told him of course that I would and he said he would make sure that Adam knew that I was helping.
I NEVER thought he would put me on the phone with Adam. Well this morning after 3.5 hours of sleep Larry DM'd me again and asked if I could be at my phone in an hour. I of course said I would and immediately started freaking out. I called my mom...you know, the works. LOL
So I get a phone call and it must be Larry's producer that tells me to standby. While this is happening NCOE is playing and I'm thinking, I love this song but why is it so fucking long? LOL! So then they cut back and the interview started. OMG ADAM!
So Larry tells a story about how Adam had to reschedule and how Adam was tweeting him (DM?) about how he was sick and he felt so bad. Larry was laughing and assuring him it was okay. They talked about the album a bunch and how Adam has balls to ask to be Executive Producer. Larry talked about how cohesive the album is and then they played Trespassing.
They came back from Trespassing and Larry started talking about how Adam has some super loyal fans. Some crazy and some crazy amazing. He then said "This girl is the cream of the crop and she's super diehard but she's not crazy...well, we'll see when she gets on the phone." (LOL)
So then it went something like this:
L: Michelle? M: Yes?! L: Michelle say hi to Adam Lambert M: OMG hi Adam. I promise I'm not crazy. A: Hi! No it's cool, I'm crazy so join me. M: I'm crazy in the positive, life-affirming way. Not the lock me up kinda way. A: (laughs) Yes! Awesome! L: Michelle...this is your moment. Who hooked you up, girl? M: You SO did, Larry thank you! L: Okay ask Adam whatever you want. This is your time! M: Thanks. Well first of all Adam, I just saw you on Friday at Fantabuloso or whatever the hell that event was called. A: Haha! Yeah that was rad. I hadn't played a big venue like that in awhile. It was cool. M: Thanks for doing that, it was fun to see you in that setting with all those other artists. When I walked in I was like, "I'm in teenybopper hell. There were all these The Wanted fans there who were 12 years old in booty shorts. A: (laughs) M: Yea, so it was fun to see you in NOT your typical demographic. They were into it and dancing though! A: Ha yea those things are fun!
M: Well I also want to ask you about the NCOE video snippet which is OMG amazing! A: Thank you! Yea we were referencing like 1906's George Lucas M: Yea, I saw the references online and checked out the trailer and I totally see that. A: Yea Dio (??) the director came up with the concept and we kind of updated it and made it more current. M: Totally. The blogs and everything are saying "OHh! Adam Lambert went high concept!" A: Of course! M: Is it an extended video, like a movie or... A: That part that you saw in the preview is part of the video. M: When are we getting it? A: I don't know. We're still putting the finishing touches on it and some special effects but it's gonna be awesome.
I THINK at this point Larry said we were done and I don't know, I probably blacked out but Adam was great. Super amazing sport and I will remember this for a LONG time. I'm sure I forgot things and HOPEFULLY someone records it. I'm a lucky girl!
Leona Lewis and Adam Lambert have been added to the Rays Of Sunshine concert.
The artists will join JLS, Pixie Lott and Stooshe at the charity gig, which will take place at London's Royal Albert Hall on June 7.
Conor Maynard and Diversity will also perform at the event, with tickets for the show on sale now.
The proceeds will go towards the Rays Of Sunshine Children's Charity, which grants wishes for seriously ill youngsters in the UK aged 3-18 years old.
The organization granted its first wish back in 2004 and has gone on to grant over 2,000 wishes, along with hosting a number of entertaining events and hospital activities.
Meanwhile, Adam Lambert will release his second album Trespassing in the UK on July 2. Leona Lewis is expected to release her third studio set later this year.
Angelina's take on the Royal Albert Hall appearance:
"Yes, it's a very big deal - it's one of the most beautiful and historic venues in the UK - the acoustics are phenomenal and all the huge classical concerts take place there, as well as some fantastic rock concerts and everything in between - it's enormous! More to the point: it'll legitimize him here & peeps will start to take him seriously!!! :-))) Also, because of the kind of event it is, he'll gain loads more younger fans too! So win-win-win-win-win for His Gorgeousnessnessness!!!"
Adam Lambert is Trespassing his way across America with a stop in New Jersey yesterday as part of the 103.5 KTU's KTUphoria concert at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel City. The concert also included Pitbull, Flo Rida, Enrique Iglesias and more but we only have eyes for Adam this morning.
His Glamily got the album back on top of the charts and as promised he gave us a sneak peek of his next video NCOE. Not only does it look Glamtastic, methinks I see an acting career in this man's future, yes? Check out the 17 second teaser clip and the pictures below of the concert.
Powerhouse glam rocker Adam Lambert, the 2009 American Idol runner-up, has just been added to the line-up for Jenkinson's 15th Annual Summer Blast-off on Friday morning.
The free event, scheduled from 6 to 10 a.m. and featuring performances by Lambert, Train and The Bobby Lynch Cover Band, will be hosted by Scott & Todd from the 95.5 FM WPLJ morning show, according to WPLJ.
The annual Jenkinson's summer kick-off typically draws huge crowds, and, in recent years, those who are serious about getting inside for the big-name concerts camp out as early as 9 p.m. the night before.
The concert is inside Jenkinson's Pavilion, which is large, but space is limited, said Marilou Halvorsen, Director of Jenkinson's Marketing.
For those who don't get inside, well, that's what sand chairs are for.
"A lot of people like to sit out on the beach and listen to the concert," Halvorsen noted.
News went out to Lambert fan clubs on Monday morning that he had just been added to the line-up of the popular event at Jenkinson's Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach.
Lambert went from being the first runner-up on American Idol's eighth season in 2009, when Kris Allen won, to a chart-topping, worldwide success as the dexterous rocker hand-picked by Queen to be their front man on tour dates in July, even as many compare his vocal strength and acrobatics to Queen's legendary Freddie Mercury.
He just performed at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel on Sunday, released a new CD, Trespassing, on May 15 and, on his website, has just announced additional tour dates.
On May 15, Adam Lambert returned with Trespassing, the long-awaited followup to his 2010 debut. The album presents the "American Idol" alum as a man at odds, its first half a parade of electro-inspired party anthems, followed by a glimpse at Glambert's "dark side," a series of emotionally charged ballads, marking a collective departure from the decadent glam-rock that won fans over on "Idol."
Lambert recently visited AOL Music's Los Angeles studio, where he performed a selection of songs from the new album, showcasing his tremendous range, whilst trading jokes with his band. After his impassioned performance, we talked with Adam about his incredible journey from "Idol" contestant to pop icon, touching on everything from his relationship with boyfriend Sauli Koskinen and their plans for fatherhood, to the inspiration he's received from his loyal fan base. Lambert also opened up about the "dark side" of Trespassing ... the side he's previously kept hidden from his fans.
Tell us a bit about the album title and how you came up with it. Do you feel like a trespasser?
Yeah, the album title is Trespassing, it's the title track because, to me, the song "Trespassing," is like a mission statement. I wrote the song with Pharrell Williams, who is an amazing, great pop producer, and I felt like the lyrics of the song summed up what I'm about as an artist and as a person. I do feel like a trespasser, but not in a literal sense, because I don't think I've broken into any property recently. On a more figurative level, I feel like I'm very different than the normal dude. I'm pretty eccentric, and as far as the music industry is concerned, I feel like a bit of an outsider. There are times when I feel like I'm breaking new ground by breaking in. Hopefully this album let's people kind of see that rebel.
What was it like working with Pharrell? It's an interesting combination.
I was working with my label on this album, and when we started it was kind of going down a similar path to what I had already done, and I just wasn't feeling totally inspired by it. And I said, when I listen to these certain funk songs in my music library, it puts me in a good mood. It makes me want to dance, it makes me smile. I realized that I really wanted to make feel-good music and we started talking about some producers and knocking around some names, and Pharrell came up, and I thought, "Wow, if he'll work with me, I'd be totally thrilled." They confirmed it, I got to the studio and I thought "I'm not cool enough to be here, this guy is the coolest mothaf--ka out there." He's shaped pop and hip hop over the last decade and I was a little intimidated. What was cool was, after arriving at the studio and sitting down and talking with him, we connected on an intellectual level. He's so smart, and he's so big picture. We talked about the music industry and life and identity, and one of the main things we talked about, which kind of kicked off the song "Trespassing," was different types of discrimination, and fitting into the world and finding your own path. I think that's what "Trespassing" is really about. It's about saying "I know I may not be welcome here, I know I'm different and I know you're saying 'keep out,' but I'm not going to let that stop me. I'm going to do what my heart is telling me to do and do it proudly."
Obviously a lot of great things have happened to you over the last year, you have a loving relationship and an album coming, but you've mentioned that you have a dark side, or dark half to the album. Where does that come from?
I think everybody has ups and downs. Everybody has their good days and bad days and we all have that little voice in our head -- or maybe I'm just talking about myself! Maybe I have voices in my head and everybody else doesn't, but you have qualities and tendencies that probably are a little bit masochistic. We all do things or say things to ourselves that aren't healthy. Maybe we're hard on our body image or maybe we're self-sabotagers or maybe we're doing something wrong, and then we have our good days, or up side. So I think the album shows both sides of that. I am in a happy place right now, I'm excited to be working and making music, I'm excited to be in a relationship, but I think in the past, I dug into moments that were lonely and I didn't have a great track record when it came to dating [laughs]. I wasn't very successful. I kept going after the wrong kind of people and so I wrote about that on the album.
Interesting. So how has being in a serious relationship changed your music?
I think there's a certain amount of balance that comes with a stable relationship, and it feels good. When you haven't really had a lot of experience in serious, long-term relationships, you don't realize it's missing. I had a great time being single, and I found a lot of strength and courage in that, and individuality, doing my own thing and being my own person. That was really important for me to go through, but I'm in a place now where I can offer something to somebody, because of that time. So I feel like now there's this balance; I have me and all the things that I've worked out with myself and my identity, and now I can be a part of a couple, and it's a beautiful thing. I think deep down everybody kind of wants that. Maybe not all the time, maybe not for your whole life, but we all want companionship.
Do you think you'd ever like to adopt or have kids?
I don't know. I certainly feel like I should have the right to if I want to. I think kids are amazing. I wasn't around a lot of children when I was growing up -- besides my brother and I -- and I wasn't around a lot of infants until recently. I have a godson. Two good friends of mine have a baby, and he's amazing, and watching him from infancy to now -- he's still a toddler -- it's just like, it's amazing. It's amazing. Amazing to watch a child grow and to see things through their eyes, I mean it's so easy for them and it's so simple for them, and it's inspiring. It kind of makes you remember, you know what, it's really not that deep. Life can be this kind of beautiful, surreal, novel experience if you want it to be. And it's a beautiful thing to watch a child go through that.
That's awesome. So we're doing an essay contest where we're asking fans about your music and how it impacted their lives. Is there a particular artist who inspired you?
I grew up with Michael Jackson and Madonna. Those were like my king and queen when I was a kid. Those were the pop royalty, and then later I discovered Prince and I discovered Freddie Mercury, I mean those four kind of take it for me. Prince, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson and Madonna. It's a good round, royal court of pop music.
So then to perform with Queen, what is that like, and to what do you attribute your chemistry?
I'm really excited. I met the members of Queen at the "Idol" finale a few years back and. I've always loved Queen and when I found out about Freddie Mercury and first heard their albums in my dad's record collection, I was like "What is this?" Because I had been into musical theater and there's such a cross over, its rock, but it's so theatrical. A light bulb went off for me and I went, "Oh, so that's what rock n' roll can be." So I meet the members of Queen a couple years ago on the "Idol" finale, and then last summer they asked me to sing at the European Music Awards, and it was a beautiful experience. It felt very natural and I was just so honored that they asked me, and they thought that I could handle the duties. It's been interesting because there's some purists out there that are like, "there's only one Freddie Mercury," and I know that [laughs]. I agree. I'm just excited to pay respect to his memory and his songwriting, and hopefully we can bring this music alive again for fans of the songs.
Your Twitter fans are by far the most loyal we've come across. Every time we mention your name they retweet way more than anyone else we mention. To what do you attribute that? Do you know?
No, I don't. I have amazing fans and they are really passionate and they're very involved and I'm lucky. That's what you want when you're making art and you're a musician, you want to have people that are very into it. Making this album was definitely inspired by a lot of the desires from the fan base, you know. I saw music that they were responding to when I was on tour, which songs got them dancing, which songs touched them, and when I was putting this album together I kind of wanted to go further down that road. Having gotten to know them over the past couple of years informed the new material.
A Twitter fan would like to know how you feel about the nickname "Glambert." If you could come up with another nickname yourself, what would it be?
I like the name Glambert, I mean it fits, I suppose. Sounds like my name [laughs]. I'm into glam rock. I don't know, I don't think I would pick another nickname. I will always go by Adam, I never had a nickname growing up, so there you go.
Another fan would like to know about your ideal date night. Going out or staying in?
You know, I do love going to a nice restaurant. I love good food and the environment of a nice, romantic restaurant, but I also really have become quite a homebody. So, I think my ideal night would be going to a nice restaurant, a little wine, a little dessert, and then coming home.
Finally, a fan wants to know a bit about the song "Underneath," off the new album.
Oh, "Underneath" is probably one of the more vulnerable songs on the album. Trespassing kind of has two halves; one half is very upbeat, fun, funky with lots of attitude and swagger and fierceness, and then the other half of the album does dive into what lies under the surface. "Underneath" is the song that is the pinnacle of that. It talks about how sometimes, even if I'm putting on a game face, or seemingly happy and confident, what's going on underneath might not be so much the same. I mean we all have demons that we battle, we all have stuff and baggage, and the song kind of addresses it directly.
April 25: AOL Sessions Taping Adam Photo [ATop Info]
You don’t necessarily have to win American Idol to have a successful pop music career.
Adam Lambert, who finished second in the eighth season of the Fox music competition to champion Kris Allen, sees his sophomore 19/RCA album, Trespassing, debut at #1 on this week’s HITS chart, selling nearly 78k.
Much has been written about Adam Lambert and much has been said about his chart-topping new LP "Trespassing." But when all is said and done, the only words that truly matter are the stories Lambert so candidly shares on the album. Each and every song on "Trespassing" perfectly conveys his state of mind and distinct point of view that is woven throughout the effort.
"Trespassing" shows off two different sides of the singer. One part of the record features Lambert's exuberant and glamorous stage persona with tracks that are peppy, fun and clearly (and successfully) produced for mass consumption. The other part of the album emerges when Lambert steps off the stage, lifts up the brightly-lit, yellow trespassing signs to expose a much more vulnerable side of himself.
Tracks like "Cuckoo" and "Naked Love" capture the fun and flirty Lambert, while tracks such as "Underneath," Outlaws Of Love" and "Chokehold" show what really moves him as artist, performer, and most importantly, a human being. In fact, "Underneath" in particular addresses that very sentiment and intent when he sings, "Welcome to my world of truth. I don't wanna hide any part of me from you. I'm standing here with no apologies."
When the party is over and the roar of the crowd fades, Lambert has the ability to take a step back, reflect on matters and tap into a raw vulnerability that is rarely exposed in pop music today. His honest and intensely personal storytelling adds a powerful dimension to his music that connects with people in a much deeper and lasting way.
One of the album's biggest contributions is that it's not just an accomplished collection of songs, but that it showcases the power and versatility of pop music. Yes, pop music can be fun, and yes, it can be highly stylized, but behind its glossy facade, pop music can also capture powerful emotions that people far and wide can relate to with great ease and apply to their own world of experience. And even if you don't speak English, Lambert's vocal tone and inflection will tell you all you need to know.
Lambert perfectly understands the power of pop and uses the ever-evolving genre to his full advantage. While pushing the envelop creatively, artistically and personally, the singer gives people music to make their own and cherish forever, which makes him a pop star of the brightest kind.
Vocal powerhouse Adam Lambert has shot to the top of the U.S. albums chart with his second album 'Trespassing' and has made history in the process.
The dreaded sophomore slump is something Lambert won't have to contend with as he is is currently leading the chart with his new record, and this impressive feat has made him the first openly gay recording artist to achieve a No.1 album in America.
Last week, Billboard.com reported that the 'Better Than I Know Myself' superstar was on course to be No.1 and although the official positions are yet to be confirmed on the site, hitsdailydouble.com posted this week's sales figures and proved that Lambert is leading the pack.
He also topped America's iTunes albums chart last week, beating Tenacious D, the 'Glee' cast and John Mayer to the coveted No.1 spot.
'Trespassing' will be released in the UK on July 2.
