Guitar legend and ex-Guns N 'Roses band member Slash goes off this Monday with his second solo album "Apocalyptic Love" on tour. In this interview he talks about his wild life at home and on stage. And Robbie Williams.
You do not even want to stand before the microphone. But it sucks not to, will always depend on other singers?
That's why I've put together for my new album a real band. The search for a singer is hard. Before Guns N 'Roses long I held out for a suitable candidate. Even with Velvet Revolver, my other band, we have been looking for years. When playing guitar, you can muddle through, but when singing? It's difficult.
This is reminiscent of Queen guitarist Brian May, who wants to play, but no singer took a long time. With Adam Lambert Queen now take a party from a talent show on tour. Had this been an option?
You will laugh: Adam Lambert is the only reason I ever watched "American Idol" and even participated in a series as a mentor. I wanted to meet him as well. He is talented, unique.

Adam Lambert has recently become the first openly gay artist to have a No 1 in the US charts. As a gay artist yourself, what are your thoughts on his achievement? Do you think it’s harder for gay artists to find success?
I think it’s really awesome that Adam’s achieved that. I think it’s really amazing. I’m happy to be a part of that album and I’m really excited. I’m honestly surprised it’s taken this long. I still think there are still a lot of weird hang-ups and challenges that gay male artists face in the business. I can’t explain why it’s that way. Things are starting to slowly change, but there still seems to be challenges remaining.
You co-wrote songs on Adam Lambert’s album, Trespassing, and worked on his track, Shady. How was it working with him in the studio?
It was really a pleasure and really easy. We’ve worked together before on his first album and we’ve been friends for a while and we get along really well. He is an incredible vocalist. Working with him is really easy because he just goes in the booth and hits these ridiculous notes. It’s sort of jaw dropping. There’s not a lot of singers that blow me away like that. I hope he gets more attention in the UK because he deserves it.

I thought I was having a case of 'The Mondays' or at least that's the excuse I was working with. Then I came across pictures of Adam Lambert performing for the gays at G-A-Y Nightclub in London and it suddenly felt like Tuesday, not really.

Adam is spending June and July across the pond and it looks like he's having a great time.
He Tweeted: “So excited for the late night G-A-Y club performance on Saturday here in London. You're gonna feel it Kickin In boys!”
I just love how Glambert puts it together! Adam Lambert loves jackets and his fashion is so fun. He knows how to keep things flashy and interesting without going the Lady Gaga route and taking it too far.
As "American Idol" turns 10, we celebrate the milestone with 10 of our favorite contestants.
Ten years ago, a little show called “American Idol” made its debut on Fox.
Hoping to find the next pop superstar, the music competition has more than made an indelible mark in pop culture and is responsible for its share of lasting voices (Kelly Clarkson! Carrie Underwood! Daughtry! Adam Lambert!) and plenty of disposable ones.
Over the years, the aging competition has had plenty of growing pains -- acid-tongued judge Simon Cowell exiting, ratings dips and odd personnel choices (love you Ellen, but come on) -- but despite the show’s missteps, millions continue to tune in to watch from auditions (both inspiring and craptastic) to finals, and predict who will walk away with the title.
Though recent winners of the competition have followed a distinct pattern -- a record number of 132 million votes helped Georgia-bred troubadour Phillip Phillips win this season -- contestants have found success in virtually every genre including pop, R&B, country, rock, gospel, dance and musical theater.
To celebrate the show’s landmark, here’s 10 songs from 10 of our favorite contestants to grace the “Idol” stage. Sorry fans of Season 9, that was a tough one for this writer to watch -– or like.
04. Adam Lambert (Season 8, 2009). Lambert's Broadway theatrics weren't enough to beat out Kris Allen (the second in a string of recent winners pegged as the “white guy with guitar”), but his unpredictable stage presence and limitless range brought excitement to the competition at a time when it desperately needed it. Bonus points for being one of the few contestants to prove you don't need to win the show to make your mark.
05. Ruben Studdard (Season 2, 2003)
06. Daughtry (Season 5, 2006). If there was any greater justice for booted contestants on this competition, its the lasting success of Daughtry. And he's not the only voice we still hold a candle for from his season: Elliott Yamin, Mandisa and Katherine McPhee might have all lost out to Taylor Hicks on the competition, but as with Lambert, it didn't really matter.

Adam Lambert is an American singer-songwriter and stage actor. Born in Indianapolis but raised in San Diego, Lambert had dreamed of becoming a performer after appearing in numerous amateur productions in his childhood and adolescence. His passion overtook him when deciding to drop out of college, pursue his career, and perform in various professional theatrical productions across the world.
Lambert came to prominence following his appearance on the eighth season of American Idol. Although he was runner-up, Lambert launched a music career with the release of his debut studio album For Your Entertainment (2009) after signing with 19 in a joint venture with RCA. Debuting at number three on the Billboard 200, selling 198,000 copies in the U.S. in its first week, and reaching the top 10 in several countries worldwide, the album subsequently achieved international success with its singles "For Your Entertainment", "Whataya Want from Me" and "If I Had You". Soon after, he embarked on his first headlining worldwide concert tour, Glam Nation, making him the only American Idol contestant to do so in the year following his Idol season. The tour was followed by two live releases: an extended play entitled Acoustic Live! (2010), and a live CD/DVD Glam Nation Live (2011), which debuted at number one on the SoundScan Music Video chart. Lambert took executive producer credit and was a principal writer on his second studio album, Trespassing, which was released to critical acclaim on May 15, 2012. Trespassing made its debut in the number one spot on the Billboard 200 album chart, also topping the Billboard Digital Albums Chart and Canada's Digital Albums Chart.
Citing influence from various artists, Lambert has become recognized for his flamboyant, theatrical and androgynous performance style, and his powerful and technically skilled tenor voice with multi-octave range. He has accrued numerous awards and nominations, including a Grammy nomination for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, and has sold nearly two million copies of his debut album worldwide as of April 2012 and 4.2 million singles worldwide as of January 2011. The LA Times ranked him fifth in its list of the top 120 American Idol contestants.

See who got your vote for the sexiest man and woman in pop?
Along with crafting perfect hooks, displaying incredible vocal skill and letting the world in on your personality, a pop star's sex appeal can help elevate them above their peers. You voted for your favorite seductive stars, and the results are in!
With more than 600,000 votes cast, Adam Lambert was named Music's Sexiest Man, earning 26% of the vote! Standing alongside the former "American Idol" and recent Billboard 200 chart-topper was the princess of pop, Britney Spears, who netted an overwhelming 45% to be named Music's Sexiest Woman.
Next up on the list of sexiest men was Adam Levine (12%), Justin Bieber (10%), and Enrique Iglesias (9.75%). Tokio Hotel's Bill Kaulitz made the top 10 without even being on the original ballot, and a write-in entry, Jo Calderone, would have placed in the top 10 were in not for the fact that Jo is actually Lady Gaga's alter ego and therefore doesn't qualify for sexiest man. See who else made the list of Music's Sexiest Men in our gallery.
The ladies in line behind Britney were Lady Gaga, with 12% of the vote, and Beyonce, with 8%. See which female pop stars made the top 10, and how close the results were, in our Music's Sexiest Women gallery.
