I was one of those that voted for Allison that night because I thought Adam was untouchable. I don't think he was bottom 2 though. Ryan often says he annouces the "safe" ones of the bottom 3 in random order. Hope Adam knows about the on-line campaign and the fact that he was SOOO good we thought he didn't need help. I feel certain the MTV poll was rigged. I have no idea why, but there is no way that Green Day jumped that far ahead from the start and never budged. Not the way we Adam fans vote. I could see thier fans coming to life and voting to make them win, but to think they were that far ahead the whole time. Inconceivable!! Why?! Good question. Adams reaction made clear that he also did not expected this... 8-) The MTV voting is/was fishy, so I ignore it. I refuse to give them clicks.

I got physically sick. I thought I was going to vomit. I am serious! :-/

Adam was placed next to Matt at the elimination for DRAMA. nothing more. He wasn't bottom 2. No way he went from being safe every single week to being bottom 2 with Allison, Kris AND Gokey beating him in votes.
Putting Allison in the Bottom 2 would have been same ole same ole. Putting Danny or kris there surprising but not a shock because both had given inconsistent performances in the past. Putting Adam there got the media buzzing that perhaps ONCE AGAIN the public was gonna screw the pooch and send the most obvious winner home (ala Season 5). Also, it caused drama because they had used the save on Matt and the irony would have been that they used it on him only to cost them the best contestant inthe competition. Simon's head would have exploded had Adam gone home that week and I dare say he might have walked off the show right then and there.

Ryan did actually say, though, "This is your bottom 2." If it was just for drama, I think he would have had trickier wording. No, I think Adam's fan, trying to save Allison, just screwed up the voting that week.

The most suspicious part about the "Adam in the bottom three" show was that they have never before had a bottom three when they were down to five contestants. By that point in the show, they just do a bottom two; otherwise, it means more contestants are in danger than are safe. My guess is that Adam was in the middle that week, but they wanted to throw a scare into Adam's fans so they made a bottom three, then told Kris he was safe. So was Adam, but it prolonged the agony to send Kris back to the sofa first and make it look as if Adam could be voted off.
Well, I don't know if it's true, but I've read that legally they can pretty much say anything they want as long as they send the person with the lowest number of votes home. "Bottom two" could just be Idol speak for "these are the ones we decided to leave onstage this week."
