Be With You
Written by: Roger Taylor/Rufus Tiger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, drums, guitar solo Rufus Tiger Taylor - piano Jason Falloon - guitar Kevin Jefferies - bass
- According to an interview this began as a piano riff that Rufus had been playing but didn't think was all that but Roger thought it could develop nicely. - This is the first recording of Rufus on anything but percussion!
PERSONAL NOTES: I love it! It shows Rufus does have promise in songwriting like his old man.
NEXT? One of my favs on the album, Roger wants to live on Quality Street

Quality Street
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, piano, guitar, bass, drums, percussion Steve Hamilton - saxophone
- Another sax song? This probably ties the album up with a combination of every other Queen related release! - Another slow song, but this is a slow burn that picks up power by the end. - Some quality lyrics overall
PERSONAL NOTES: I love the slow burn and the power chords for the final verse!
NEXT? Roger says I Don't Care and is QUITE a diverse piece of music from the rest of the album!

I Don't Care
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, bass, guitar, piano, percussion, drums Jason Falloon - guitar Steve Hamilton - saxophone
- Based on the Let There Be Drums solo Rog did on the QPR tours in 2005-2006. - ANOTHER sax song - An upbeat dancey number unlike anything a Queen member has really tried before with that wandering bass line
Let There Be Drums
PERSONAL NOTES: Another big favorite of mine for the diversity. Unlike anything they've done before my toes were certainly tapping. A very funky track.
NEXT? Rog goes 60s soulful with an update of the track he did with Felix (Woman You're So Beautiful) - retitled Sunny Day

Sunny Day
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, guitar. keyboards, percussion Jason Falloon - guitar Kevin Jefferies - bass Spike Edney - piano Jonathan Perkins - organ, backing vocals Nicola Robbins - backing vocals
- Originally performed by Roger with his son Felix as a one off single titled. Woman, You're So Beautiful (But Still A Pain In The Ass). As you can tell that original was done in a much more wiseass way.
- Jonathan Perkins is an old friend of Roger's with his own (very strange) band, Drowning Venus.
ALTERNATIVES
ORIGINAL VERSION
- Funny as hell and much more irreverent. I do love the new version, but I like this one equally for different reasons
PERSONAL NOTES:
Such a great soulful tune. Rog still has it here. I hope he continues to make solo albums!
NEXT: Roger sings to his lovely bride, Be My Gal (My Brightest Spark)

Be My Gal (My Brightest Spark)
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, guitar Spike Edney - piano Kevin Jefferies - bass
- Written for his wife Sarina - Spike hasn't gotten to play on many non-Cross, Queen related tracks.
PERSONAL NOTES: A very nice, sweet song. Bordering on too sappy, but not QUITE getting there...
NEXT? Roger proclaims: (I Am The Drummer) In A Rock And Roll Band

I Am The Drummer In A Rock And Roll Band
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, guitars, drums Jason Falloon - guitar Kevin Jefferies - bass
- A real big dumb fun loud rock song. Rog with tongue firmly in cheek - A favorite amongst the fans.
PERSONAL NOTES: I love it. It is exactly what it sets out to do. Ironic, song that lets Rog cut loose and poke fun at himself while having fun in the process. A real win win!
NEXT? Roger takes on his own QPR track....Small

Small
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, guitars, keyboards Jason Falloon - guitar Kevin Jefferies - bass
- Initially recorded with Paul Rodgers for The Cosmos Rocks, this was much heralded as a high point of the album. - This version is slightly more stripped back with less vocals, and obviously minus Brian's guitar.
PERSONAL NOTES: I LOVE Rog on vocals for this. I do wish Brian's guitar had survived - a mashup would be the perfect version.
NEXT? Another update - Rog gets Jeff Beck to help out on a new version of Say It's Not True

Say It's Not True
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals Jeff Beck - guitar Rufus Taylor - drums Steve Stroud - bass Spike Edney - keyboards
- Originally written for the 46664 campaign and performed by Queen + Dave Stewart. This version was also performed by Roger during the 2005-2006 tour with Paul Rodgers - Rerecorded by Queen + Paul Rodgers with all 3 taking verse. It was also performed this way on the 2008 tour. - Rearranged when Roger got the chance to play with guitar hero Jeff Beck. Jeff chose this song to play with Roger and a new arrangement was born. - This version was actually recorded live at a rehearsal for a performance and some studio work was added later.
LIVE VERSION
ROGER AND JEFF LIVE 2011
- This may be the gig that the rehearsal was recorded for.
PERSONAL NOTES: While I think I like the QPR version best, I do love Jeff's mournful guitar work on this version. Makes it a slightly different tune. Beautiful.

The Unblinking Eye
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, stylophone Spike Edney - piano
- Initially recorded and released in 2009 as a standalone single in a longer format. This abridged version is more concise but loses some of the gritty guitar work.
- Written as a protest song...as Roger gets older he gets a bit more anti-political.
ALTERNATE VERSION
ORIGINAL SINGLE VERSION
- I already posted this in the original section, but I'll post it again as a comparison. - I like this version better despite it's length.
PERSONAL NOTES: The abridged version loses some oomph, and being that it's a four year old song at this point, it was something I tended to skip by to get newer recordings but all in all it's still a great song. I love the choir of Rog.

Up
Written by: Roger Taylor
Musicians:
Roger Taylor - vocals, guitars, bass, drums, keyboards
- Harkens the most back to RT's early solo days, even more so because he performs every instrument on the song. - This was used promotionally...almost as a single after Sunny Day but not released as such.
PERSONAL NOTES:
LOVE it. One of my absolute favs on the album. This is one of the few upbeat tracks with some great vocals and rhythm.
NEXT? Roger gives us a reason to Smile
