Its a very image concious world. PArtic the entertainment industry. I think Adam is working out hard, because he is aware of this. Image is everything and goes along way to commerical success. Look at Taylor she is living the princess lifestyle. Every guy wants to be with her, every girl wants to be like her. I am seeing Adams new look as glam rock prince on stage, but every day normal guy next door. I think that well help. Silly as it sounds Adam dancing with Miley Cyrus a few years ago helps too lol. LOL! I don't know a single guy that wants to be with Taylor Swift!! I'm talking sons, nephews, their friends, and friends kids! << For that matter their sisters don't want to be like her either!! (Unless they are 10 years old) Not sure 3ku1 deserves all the LOL for an earnest comment. I know teenagers who think the way 3ku1 suggests. I'll bet there are plenty of her peer age who feel that way but wouldn't admit it out loud. At any rate, I agree with 3ku1's basic sentiment--image is everything and Adam is working at changing his. I'm sure MANY people remember him only as that good singer who wears a lot of makeup and spikey hair. In fact one of the articles that was linked here today mentioned his spikey hair. It hasn't been spikey for years.

As we all know, the Brussels concert was cancelled and Adam was ordered not to sing. After a couple of days’ off (and, I suspect, some intensive treatment), he was able had to use his voice carefully at the Milan gig; quite a number of the glory notes were cut, and he was employing some well-rehearsed “singer” tricks to get him through. Look at the videos from these concerts; he sings with the mic much closer to his mouth and doesn’t pull it away as he goes for a high note. This is a technique to take pressure off the voice which you can use if you’re amplified. Also, the sound guys turn up the knobs and will adjust the balance of the other singers to make them louder than usual. This makes the harmony sound fuller but to be honest, the audience notice very little at all. He was also getting the audience to sing along with him; it was all very subtle – excellently done, and was barely noticeable unless you’d been following all the chat on social media. He made it through, borne by the prayers of Glamberts worldwide. I guess Robert earned his paycheck with his purple knobs that night (may have even turned a few blue )

I have to concur in that a *lot* of my dad's high school students love Taylor Swift. Couldn't say if they want to date her, but lord knows there hasn't been a end-of-year talent program in recent memory that hasn't featured a Taylor song...and she's always recognizably emulated. So yeah, her look is a thing.
ETA: And the looks issue might bite Kelly Clarkson this era as she is looking very mom-ish this round versus pop-ish (huh, just realized I punned) <snicker> Most female pop stars try to keep their "look" post-baby (Pink, Madonna). Kelly explicitly not caring. Will be interesting to see if her new look overshadow her songs. Hope not, but it well may.....

I have a little story about what I learned this weekend, while missing Adam's hot ass selfie........ I learned that just like Adam stole all Cook's moneys in Era 2, Nate Ruess will be stealing all of Adam's promos in Era 3. I spent the weekend with a friend who is a huge Nate stan. We saw fun. play an outdoor venue in Vancouver sometime in the summer of 2013. She proclaimed Nate to be the best singer and frontman she had ever seen live. She was totally smitten. During his call and response, she was blown away because "he went for unreachable notes and barely missed any" She fully expected me to jump on board the Nate train with her and was disappointed when I said I had enjoyed the show , but found his stage persona a bit too ' constipated(facial straining) monkey'(constant jumping) for my taste. For the record, she finds Adam too polished in his looks and vocals. Nate is more authentic. If chinos and t-shirts pulled out of the laundry bin and attempted notes that threaten to burst blood vessels = authentic, then have at 'er, I say! She also thought Nate with Queen at IHeart overshadowed Adam. So this weekend she informed me the push to make Nate a solo pop star was finally upon us. She played me his new single and said his new album was due out this summer. After listening to the single I asked if it was an early promo single because I couldn't remember a hook or shred of the melody seconds after hearing it. What I didn't tell her was that I thought it as dull as dish water...... especially from someone who is a sought after songwriter. When I told her Adam also had a single dropping soon and a summer album release, she insisted he would be taking a back seat, because Nate would be getting all the best male pop solo promo spots and appearances. Today I see that he already has a performance spot at the IHeartRadio awards at the end of March......... I'm looking forward to a very interesting spring/summer ......... where there is room for all. Let the games begin. A humorous story. >> I like Nate but there is no competition between Adam and Nate. Adam and David Cook were both signed to RCA. So the fan complaint that Adam "stole" all of David Cooks promo opportunity was at least plausible even if it was not sensible and there was not one speck of evidence. Adam and Nate are not on the same label -- they are not even in the same label group. The only real thing they have in common right now is that both Adam and Nate are signed to label who are distributed by divisions of Warner Music Group. > Adam is signed to Warner Brothers Records, the foundation label for WMG and one of the two flagship labels within WMG. It is a global record label. > Nate is signed to Fueled by Ramen which operates as a subsidiary of Warner Music Group, and is distributed by Atlantic Records. Fueled by Ramen is focused on indie rock music. Nate is being marketed as an alternative rock artist. They are promoting Nate's single to Alternative radio -- sent to radio 2 weeks ago, it got <600 spins in the past week. It is #116 on the Billboard US chart (#16 on the Bubbling Under chart). There is no competition between the two. WMG has a ton of money for promotion but I think Adam can probably perform his new single on any show he wants with the exception of something that requires performances to be is associated with an award -- Academy Awards, Grammys, Tonys, and so on. iHR and Billboard Awards seem possible to me.

Trying to convey image. She lives this certain lifestyle. I was trying to make a point about image. Like Adams image, people still see him as the glam guy who wears make up. Please be careful making broad statements -- post your opinion and that is fine -- but try not to come across as speaking for large groups of people you do not necessarily know. Q3/HSM

Wow! That is bad in so many ways. His management needs to get him some help quick!!! Maybe he is having vocal issues (a la Adele) because of poor singing technique. Sam starting working with a vocal coach 12 years ago -- but in her interviews she sound more like a performance coach. Here is an interview with her: www.vh1.com/music/tuner/2015-02-05/sam-smith-vocal-coach-joanna-eden-team-celeb/I can't speak to the quality of his vocal technique but clearly he needs to make some kind of adjustment.

It hasn't been spikey for years. He used the word "every" and that just is not true!! Besides, I did not tell him how to post or what to say, as you are me. My post was an answer to "Every boy wants her and EVERY girl wants to be her." In my corner of the world, one ten year old I know loves her! I also don't think every straight woman thinks Adam Lambert is HOT either (or should!) Neither is True! I didn't take that every part literally. It's just an expression and I think I've heard it mostly about men. Every woman wants him and every man wants to be him, or something like that. Taylor has a huge fan base and the expression works for her as well as it does for a lot of others. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taylor_Swift_discographySwift's fifth studio album, 1989 was released in October 2014. It became her fourth consecutive album to peak at number one on Billboard 200 with sales of 1.287 million copies and her third to sell over 1 million copies. It was the 19th album to sell over a million copies in a single week since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991 and was Swift's highest first week sales. She also became the first artist to have three albums sell a million or more copies in a week.[14] "Shake It Off" was released as the first single and debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.[15] The second single "Blank Space" became Swift's third chart-topper. According to Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Swift is the best-selling digital singles artist in the United States, with cumulative Gold and Platinum single certifications of over 77 million including downloads and on-demand streaming.[16] To date, she has sold over 27 million albums in the United States.[17] Worldwide, these figures increase to over 40 million albums and over 130 million digital downloads sold.[18]

It always amazes me, how little the casual observer seems to take in. How so many people are stuck, not only on the level of their first impression, but then maintain that first impression for years, refusing to adjust their perception, either for time, or for depth of observation.
How can somebody, who watched AI8, see only guy-liner and make-up? And nothing else? When Adam offered ample opportunity to find out more about him. And it was not exactly hard to advance beyond that first impression, he showed many sides of himself, both on and off stage.
Adam has changed his outward persona with every phase (album) and for every in-between-albums phase as well. Most folk never took note, but I sometimes wonder what they would have taken away from that, had they noticed?
If your level of observation is so shallow, that you learn nothing about the person behind it, then the chameleon-like changes in Adam must be utterly confusing to such a person.
In reality, all these are just images or at times even masks, not only the make-up one. I see work-out obsessed Adam just as much as a created image, as glam-Adam or any other phase. Of course, he is going to pick as next phase, something that resonates with him at the time, is what he cares about at that moment. But I don't think, that he has changed underneath.
Yes, he probably takes in more protein now, when in previous phase he tried to be almost vegan. Yes, he finally likes what he sees in the mirror, which is good. Maybe even found a way, so that exercising is not just a total chore, but also a bit enjoyable. Don't know.
But nothing has changed about anything graciejane's boss ever talked about. Adam has not become less theatrical, less drama, less flamboyant, or less of a artist, or less of a singer or less of a nice person or any of that. Thank goodness he is still the same person, for all of us, and himself, and those that care around him.
But what will the casual observer see now? Will they keep their former stereotypes or are they going to adjust their perception, from one shallow place to a different shallow place now? Who knows. And will it matter? If it turns more people into listeners of both his music and of what he is trying to say, it may well be worth it, if they again get stuck in a place where they get nothing, I am not sure it does.
Ultimately, it would not surprise me, if Adam brought it all back around to the beginnings, in a later era, leaving those that are confused by that, totally behind, at that moment. Now is not the time for that. Now is the time to sweep up more of these casual observers and fill the net. For me, the present phase only demonstrates that Adam has become more comfortable separating the outer image, which he displays for his audience from all the rest of what is probably going on in his life independent of what we get to see. If he previously had the ambition to 'show his true self', I think he has realized, that most folks just don't look all that carefully. Showbiz is a strange biz to be in.
