Shazam is just an app program to identify the song and singer. No streaming. Was just wondering why that Request Adam site said to use Shazam...wondering it it counts for something.

So, if I understand, us core fans, many who bought multiple hard album CDs in the past, aren't gonna be able to get Adam to a #1 position this time around...like for Trespassing. So, in addition to buying the physical albums, we need to stream, buy digital versions, hope his lead single or 2nd pre-album single...one or both blow up big to really big....and then hope that other artists during that week don't have bigger total numbers than his. I will do whatever I can do to help when album time comes. I will need instructions on when to pre-order albums for maximum effect, how and which stream sites to DL and how to best use those. I have never streamed any music, so I'll need help/info. Bottom line, seems he needs a hit song that produces purchases and streams from way beyond current Glambertland. As far as impacting the first upcoming April single....I'll buy from itunes and Amazon and I suppose start the streaming regimen. I will eagerly await my instructions...lol. I'm so glad Q3 and other numbers people have knowledge on how this works. Oh we can definitely still do that! It will all depend on his competition that week. I want another #1 for him so badly because that will make him the #1 and #2 Out and proud artists to get a #1. No other gay artist has gotten a number since Trespassing! Yes, absolutely. As far as I can tell, Adam is advantaged by the new album chart. > Yes, he has to go beyond Glambertland but I would leave that to his team. > Now Adam fans can use their passion to support him. This new system measures and rewards passion -- as long as we use streaming media to go beyond Glambertland. If Adam fans hang out in clicks online and on Twitter talking to each other, we will not be helping. So, for example, we can create and Spotify playlists that have broad appeal and include Adam's new single. We can create reasons for people to stream an Adam song.....linked to the news: qz.com/360383/a-short-history-and-spotify-playlist-of-pop-musics-biggest-copyright-disputes/ (super fun article!) And so on..... But it will require Glambert creativity to go beyond silliness like Adam single on a playlist 20 times. Or putting together buying campaigns. Or doing radio requests at stations that are 2,000 miles away. We need things that get new people to listen to his music. We need to become viral in our behavior. BUT MOST OF ALL -- Adam needs to have music people want to hear and hear and hear. We need a "Dark Horse" or a "Happy" or a "Stay". It will all depend on the music. It the music is great and popular and on trend and has a hook, it will get listens. Finally, streaming music (audio and video) is not filtered or controlled -- it is on demand. Listeners pick what they want to stream. And generic pop music, formulaic hip hop, just another soulful ditty, bland singer-songwriter alt s#$! are not fairing very well. Fun, upbeat, energetic songs ("Uptown Funk!" "All About The Bass" "Shake It Off") and well-crafted, meaningful songs (Sam Smith "Stay" Ellie Goulding "Love Me Like You Do") are gaining ground. Now more than ever, hits happen and cannot be "made". Final thought: One of the best things Adam fans can do is to compliment other artists and connect them to Adam! Every Sam Smith, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, JT, etc. fan is a potential Adam fan.

Looks like I'm not the only one who's confused and needs instructions. LOL... No, DLing is DLing. Streaming is using something like Pandora, or Spotify, or Rdio! I DLed Rdio last night and it is pretty damn easy to use! Still confused. I went to Rdio on my computer, signed in using facebook account and I could listen to Adam's songs. Does that kind of streaming count? I didn't have to download Rdio like you did

Streaming a thousand times is too obvious. Well be noticed. Its like viewing vids on yt. 1000 views in a row from the same ip address wont affect views, be too suspicious. But say 10-50 streams would per person. Artists get paid in royalties through the ads in between songs. They get paid per stream. I kno Taylor Swift took her catalogue off Spotify. For various reasons. On demand streaming was up 54% last year. With 164 billion streams last year. But radio still remains top source for music discovery.

Thats why I would love a collab. Particularly with KP. Her fanbase is huge. So the key is exposing Adam to as many new fans as possible. Essentially expanding his fanbase.

In a nutshell, to get prepared for the new single, what fans like us can do to help and what are the pros and cons of each method?

TALCvids @talcvids 37m37 minutes ago As time approaches, some info to consider: requestadamlambert.com/fan-guide-tips/ & requestadamlambert.com/shazam-the-song/ … OK....I don't understand Shazam. Does this site count as a stream site? If so, it seems that you have to listen to a radio station and when they play Adam you have to connect to Shazam which knows to pull up Adam's song....where you can buy it on itunes, hear part of it or get the lyrics, etc. From the above link: "So listen to your local/favorite radio station, and then once you hear Adam’s song, Shazam it! A convenient way to listen to your favorite station is via the iHeartRadio app on your phone." I doubt I'll be listening to music on my phone all day long just waiting to hear them play...or maybe not play....Adam's song. I hardly ever use my phone. Hopefully, with the other sites like Pandora or Spotify, etc. ...can you not just pull up Adam's song and play it? I have no idea how it "records" that you've listened to it...and would you listen over and over for more impact? The information on the RequestAdam site is NOT completely accurate but it has some useful info. For a song that is being promoted by a major label, Shazam is close to meaningless for most US radio stations. It is also useless for the BBC, so also forget about it for the UK too. >> Adam's new single will get airplay. WMG will make sure of that. It will get press coverage. It will be featured prominently somewhere. It will not need to be "discovered". >> If it fails to gain traction, fans will NOT be able to resuscitate it. **** Shazam does not count as a Billboard streaming site. Shazam is now two different things... 1. It is a song identification application almost always used with a smart phone. The data generated from millions of people using it to ID songs is influential because SOME radio PDs because it is a leading indicator of song popularity. 2. Shazam also has a radio product -- Shazam Radio: news.shazam.com/pressreleases/shazam-announces-groundbreaking-partnership-with-sun-broadcast-group-1066467 Because of this new business effort, many radio stations are not interested in paying Shazam for data. They have alternatives like SoundHound who are not building a competitive platform. Shazam is preparing for an IPO and they are doing a lot of PR. Expect to see them mentioned a lot. It is a fun app. If you like fun apps, use it. But unless you and 100,000 or your closest friends are using it to ID Adam's song, forget about trying to manipulate the Shazam numbers.

I use the computer, cell phone, etc., but prefer to buy actual books, cds and have the physical copy to hold. Maybe I am resistant, but everyone is not into the download, streaming thingys to have/get music. I'd still like the artist I buy to have my purchase counted, without my getting any further into the newer stuff that I'm uncomfortable with. I'm certain there are others like myself out there.
