I saw this retweet from Feb 4. Is it true or not? 5HonTour @5hontour
STREAM! Don't mute Spotify/Rdio while streaming or your streams won't count! And use an US IP
bit.ly/RFLTSpotify
bit.ly/RFLTRdioIf you mute your device, it counts -- the streaming service does not know you muted it. If you turn down the Spotify or RDio volume to 0/mute, it does not count. And on the free Spotify app, it will pause as soon as a commercial starts. I've been muting Spotify not my device...only the music mutes - the commercials play loud and clear - and usually startle the hell outta me! (the playlist pauses but continues right away after the commercial). So you're saying that all my streaming effort has been in vain? Well that sucks! ...and I have no intention of just muting my device because I am constantly listening to stuff on other sites. Guess I won't be streaming then - not doing it for my enjoyment. Haha!

I thought turning the volume to 0 was the same as muting..? Can you please clarify?

"muting" your DEVICE as opposed to "muting" the Spotify or Rdio stream.

Turning down the volume on your device is separate from turning it down on the app. Lots of people have talked about running Spotify, Rdio, etc., muted on separate tabs simultaneously.

"muting" your DEVICE as opposed to "muting" the Spotify or Rdio stream. Oh f*ck! You mean all those days of constant streaming were for naught??!! Ugh! B-| Wish I had known that earlier.. Well that makes it challenging since I like to listen to other stuff at the same time.. hmmm. ETA.. OTOH streaming seems to have done fine without me then. :
