Geez, I wish they would ban the sale of fireworks in my state. It is hot and dry and there are idiots out there shooting stuff off all over the neighborhood. Have watered everything down all day, including the roof. Amazing the junk I find in my yard, on the patio and roof every year after the 4th. Cat got outside and she is hunkered down under the laurel hedge and won't come out so hope she is on the doorstep in the morning - Adam related, I hope they have a nice party without the fireworks. I am in NE Ohio where we have extra water so no fire hazard and I love fireworks but the fireworks have been going off for 5-1/2 hours here. I think it is long enough, even for me. **** I don't mean to be a cranky old lady, but, fireworks really terrify a couple of my dogs, and make a couple others bark incessantly. I have to get doggie valium to get the traumatized ones thru 4th of July and New Year's Eve. No fun for me. But, to mask the booms, I have been playing QAL at full volume, and then, when even that didn't work, switched to Beethoven's 9th. That helps.

It is so smoky this year and while this year is the first we aren't doing anything we newly have neighbors on both sides shooting off big ones after 8 days of 100 degree weather. What there is of a wind is carrying the fireworks away but the smoke is like fog. I'm wearing a mask to try and keep out some of it.

I went to a fireworks display on the beach last night, and I could not believe the amount of people that brought their dogs with them. I mean, HELLOO!!!!!. Dogs don't really appreciate all those pretty lights! There was one guy whose dog was pulling him away and the guy kept pulling him back. I was incensed.
