Yesterday my son and his girlfriend were at the Mall and heard Ghost Town being piped through the sound system while in a store. The two employees (a man and a woman) were saying how much they loved Adam and GT and his new album!! My son told them about going to see QAL in Chicago and about the South American Tour. The employes were really excited with the news and wanted to know when Adam would be having a concert here because they wanted to go!
My son couldn't wait to tell me because he knew I would really be happy with the news.

And thank goodness....NOTHING else! American Top 40 @americantop40 51m51 minutes ago What do “Style” by @taylorswift13 and “Ghost Town” by @adamlambert have in common? “James Dean” is mentioned in the lyrics of both hits.

WARNING: cassie goes into her linguistic teacher modeI recall something I read by Deborah Tannen, a linguist who specializes in conversation styles in different settings and by different genders. One point she made is that people often assume that the words they use have the same definitions as when others use the words. But, the semantics may be quite different. As an example, she said "lie" generally means something subtly different to men than to women. Both genders recognize it means telling an untruth, but men's definition also adds "with the intent to deceive or manipulate." For men, it is not a lie if it is simply a false statement. It is the INTENT that makes it a "lie." I think we are dealing with differences in semantics or underlying meaning in our discussion about Adam's statements about his hair color and make-up. (See how I connected that? psycholinguistics, semantics, gender differences, and Adam's hair. hahaha) If I said that Adam was "lying" about his hair being its natural color, I could just mean that he made a factually false statement. No attribution as to whether that was morally or ethically wrong or not. But, I could also mean that Adam made a false statement with the intent to deceive or manipulate others. The word "lie" would have a definite negative connotation. Here on this forum we have members of different genders, different orientations, different ages, different ethnic groups, different nationalities, different cultures and different languages. We manage amazingly well, considering, but there are times when feathers get ruffled and tempers fly due to communication misalignments, not actual intents. It is good to remember that, except for the occasional troll that sneaks in, everyone here loves Adam and holds him in very high regard. If we read a comment that seems to demonstrate something other than that, it would be wise to take several deep breaths, count to ten (or if necessary to 100), and reframe the comment with the assumption that it was coming from a place of love, but that the place may be culturally expressed in a different way from our own style. Class dismissed. Aww Cassie! Very well said. I was searching for ways to apologize because I felt somehow that I stepped on some peoples tones without intent. You put things in perspective somewhat. May I also add something to this and that is that I found that the written word is sometimes harsher than maybe intended because you miss facial expression and intonation. Also not for everybody on this board English is their native language. Which sometimes makes it harder to express themselves in that language in the right way. My English might seem fine, but it's in fact the 3rd language I learned after Dutch and German (I lived near the border). Consider the picture on the previous page part of my apology (if needed).
