I am not upset that the comments were turned off. there was a couple of people spouting off some seriously hateful transpohobic stuff. And Youtube didn't seem to be interested in dealing with it the last time I had looked.

It was NOT due to Gigi's fans. I read through them last night, unless things really escalated today the comments were all AIMED AT GIGI. There were a couple of persistent hateful users totally trashing Gigi on every comment that mentioned her. Beyond awful comments. I reported two of posters as hate/bullying on several of the worst comments. Glad they are turned off.
There was one "fan" that persistently said, "I am only here for Gig. Hate Adam Lambert." Then was engaged by other posters. But I think it is a troll that has followed Adam around for 6 years. IMO, videos don't need a comment section at all! I saw the early on "I'm here because of Gigi" comments instead of being smart and welcoming new viewers and potential new AL fans the defender-berts went all crazy on them. I never saw an overly negative response to that abuse from any Gigi fan and I read (and flagged) for a long time last night...way back in time. If the dozens of hateful comments about her sexuality, her appearance, her even being in the video that I saw last night were/are indicative of fan behavior and acceptable by this fandom as an appropriate response, then I might need to rethink what I am even doing here. The comments were disgusting, I am still angry about them. And to know that Adam and his team has to see that just sickens me. Are they trolls? Likely most of them are but one of the main offenders was a recognizable name that posts everywhere pro-AL and often very defensive. I agree the comments needed to be turned off. It is unfortunate that people cannot act like decent humans instead of crazed nut jobs.

I don't know if it was finally YouTube that addressed it or Adam's folks. Just glad it is gone.

I didn't know the comments on the ALN had to be turned off! And apparently, it was because of awful comments by Gigi's fans! Sad! That is sad. Do you know..... were the awful comments towards Adam's fans or Adam himself? I regularly glance through the newest comments on ALN and probably was up to date as of yesterday. There were some that were offensive. But they had a much better tone than many video's comments. There were a lot of comments by Gigi fans, saying how much they love her, or had discovered this video because of her. There were some mean comments about her, but not that many. ALL videos have nasty comments--even ones with cute kitties and puppies. So I don't know what happened to make them disabled. Seems like a very unusual move for a music video.

The reason I am sad the comments are closed - various and interesting posters talked about Adam's music, his albums, his touring, etc. Lots of good communication/PR. Possibly potential fans who are not on the fan sites. I read lots of good comments about Gigi as well. I did not see huge numbers of horrid comments. I believe that the few trolls who persisted in ugliness had a goal of shutting down the comments, and they succeeded. Now that communication give-and-take is lost to all of us who enjoyed reading there. That is what saddens me.

It's a shame when comments have to be turned off because of uncivilised comments; I personally LIKE comments on videos, since I tend to be unobservant/distracted and miss lots of nuances. Skimming through the comments and seeing what other people notice (usually with timestamps) is interesting, and often increases my appreciation for it. Ah well.
