RHPS Reviews, Adam Mentions
THE GUARDIAN
Adam mention:
It’s not as if this recreation is a total disaster. It’s still a great script with great music and some of the performances are just as good, if not better than, the original. Carney and Milian as Riff Raff and Magenta (their costumes in the finale are a vast improvement over the silly originals) and McCartan and Justice as Brad and Janet are all good. Adam Lambert plays the small but key role of Eddie originated by Meatloaf and manages to deliver what should be considered the definitive version of Hot Patootie Bless My Soul.
THE NERDIST
Adam mention:
"As for the rest of the cast, Adam Lambert does a pretty great job with what is essentially an extended cameo as doomed rock ‘n’ roll bad boy Eddie, singing “Hot Patootie.”
THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE
Laverne Cox and Adam Lambert in "The Rocky Horrpr Picture Show," which airs at 8 tonight on Fox
By David Wiegand San Francisco Chronicle • Thursday October 20, 2016
Adam Mention
"Cox not only plays the central character of Dr. Frank N Furter, but she also nearly takes complete ownership of the production, and would succeed if it weren’t for terrific work by the other cast members: Reeve Carney as handyman Riff Raff, Victoria Justice as the virginal Janet Weiss and Ryan McCartan as the virginal Brad Majors, Annaleigh Ashford as a blue-tongued groupie Columbia, Staz Nair as the mad doctor’s hunky creation Rocky Horror, Christina Milian as the sexy, trampy Domestic and Adam Lambert in a showstopping cameo as Eddie, the Ex Delivery Boy."

Let’s do the time warp again! Rocky Horror remake rocks

Let’s do the time warp again!
More than 40 years after one of the great cult films of all time introduced an unsuspecting public to sweet transvestites, a mad scientist making an erotic Frankenstein creature, and a highly repressed yet oversexed Brad and Janet, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is back, this time as a TV remake Thursday on Fox.
It still bristles with all the weirdness and gender-bending that made the 1975 film a great excuse to party, then dress up in character and go to a midnight showing where you not only watched the show, you threw rice at the screen, sprayed water on fellow theatergoers, and shouted lines back and forth to the actors.
The show launched Tim Curry to stardom as Dr. Frank N. Furter, the “sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania.” Curry is back — but this time as the narrator.
His signature role this time out is played by Laverne Cox of “Orange Is The New Black,” herself a transgender performer. She approaches the role a (tiny) bit more subdued than did Curry; the sight (or the very idea) of a horny transgender scientist was a lot more jarring 40 years ago then it is now.
Adam Lambert, who some feel would have made an equally swell Frank N. Furter, instead plays Eddie, the biker Elvis-wannabe first played by a then virtually unknown Meat Loaf. “Hot Patootie” is a high point here, as is “Time Warp,” which still provides as good an excuse to dance around stupidly as it did when Gerald Ford was president.
Bottom line: The re-done songs rock, the characters are memorable, and Rocky Horror is still good, dirty fun.

BWW Review: FOX's THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is an Underwhelming, Sanitized Disappointment

Ashford and the always wonderfully-voiced Adam Lambert made for one rough, but mesmerizing, couple; even though Lambert's Eddie wasn't long for this, or any, world. I am hopeful that some enterprising producer saw the broadcast and is currently loading up an armored truck with cash in order to entice the pair to do a musical together on Broadway.

Best: Adam Lambert's "Hot Patootie"
If there was anyone suited to take over for Meat Loaf, it's Adam Lambert. And of course, the glam rocker offered a bit more sex appeal than Meat Loaf as Eddie. Watch Lambert's "Hot Patootie" below.

Adam Lambert on Getting 'Nasty,' Following in Meat Loaf's Footsteps for 'Rocky Horror' Remake
10/20/2016 by Karen Bliss
Miranda Penn Turin/FOX
Adam Lambert as Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do The Time Warp Again on Fox.
Adam Lambert uses the words "nasty," "dirty" and "gross" to describe Eddie, the ex-delivery boy he plays in director Kenny Ortega's television remake of the 1975 campy cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which airs Thursday night (Oct. 20) on Fox. (The original role was played by Meat Loaf.)
Lambert's role isn't big in the film, but it is fun and gory, if ever those two adjectives could be used together. In The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again -- whose cast also includes Laverne Cox, Christina Milian, Reeve Carney, Ryan McCartan, Victoria Justice, Staz Nair, Annaleigh Ashford and the legendary Tim Curry, who appeared in the original -- Lambert sings "Hot Patootie -- Bless My Soul" and has a fateful encounter with the not-so-sweet transvestite Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
Lambert spoke with Billboard on the set of the film in Toronto in the middle of the night, where they were shooting his biker scene. He had shaved some mutton chops (then painted black) and wore a leather vest.
When was the first time you saw Rocky Horror?
I can't remember. I think it was sometime in middle school, maybe. I don't know how to describe it. It's like I discovered the story line and the plot…
Your calling?
No, I already made that discovery. It really resonated with me. I really liked the style of humor and the shock value of it. I just got a kick out of it. I thought it was very ballsy.
Did you ever go to one of those sing-along with Rocky Horror screenings?
I've gone to a sing-along, a showing of it in Hollywood, when I was in my 20s. It was a lot of fun.
What has this shoot been like?
I'm in such a little bit cameo. This is only my third day on the set and I'm done tomorrow, unfortunately. It is bittersweet, because I'm bonding with the cast and everyone is really cool.
Have you ridden a motorcycle before?
I didn't ride it. They have a stunt double. I would've liked to try actually, but I think it's an insurance issue. [Laughs]
Your song "Hot Patootie" -- did you know that like the back of your hand already from seeing the film?
The thing that I like about it is it's such a classic rock song. It has the bones of a classic. So it didn't feel unfamiliar. Meat Loaf did such an amazing job in the film, and actually Meat Loaf has been a really big supporter of mine publicly since I came out on Idol and I met him after Idol, so it's kind of a cool connection.
But you haven't talked to him about this: "Hey, I'm you!"?
No. Hopefully we'll run into each other.
Let's see what you are wearing and your mutton chops.
First of all, Eddie is just nasty. He's just nasty. He's like a greaser Teddy Boy. He's gross and he's dirty and he doesn't really take care of himself and I think he's got a substance abuse problem. And he's kind of a sex addict and he's kind of disgusting. So he's really fun to play.
Sounds like every rock 'n' roll musician.
Really? [Laughs]
No, just kidding.
[Laughs] He's fun to play because he's ridiculous.
So what part of him is you?
[Pauses to think] Maybe the horn-dog part. [Laughs]
No, you should say the love for rock 'n' roll.
And the love for rock 'n' roll, of course.
If you were driving in a storm and got a flat tire, had no cell phone, no Uber, and here's this castle, and you knocked and saw what was inside, would you run or would you go, "Yes, party time!"?
If I walked in and saw a bunch of fabulous kids in glam costumes, I would feel right at home.
When I saw the cast walking up the stairs, I thought, it's just like an EDM concert.
It's pretty much like one of my birthday parties. [Laughs]
Halloween, if people start going out as you, as Eddie, what would the costume be for sale at Walmart?
Junkyard dog, quote-unquote. It's basically a greaser punk rocker. It's one part Billy Idol. Dirty rocker punk guy. Bikes and leather and a pompadour and sideburns.
