Q3, what do you think the chances are that they will add a second LA show?

And my feeling is more "Why not?!" TBH, I don't care one way or another. i doubt I will even watch (unless he is on.) But he is a great choice so "Why not?!" I can't live in negatives. It just is not the way I am.And this is one reason I am so glad you are a regular on ATOP! I always look forward to hearing what you have to say!

You can stay on that soapbox as far as I am concerned. Regarding any negative comments about this poster donation -- I doubt that any Adam fans are actually upset. But I can imagine some of the Twitter "moms" worrying that someone might be offended. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a nonpartisan, non-profit, organization whose stated mission is "to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every person in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States."
That is not "left wing"!! That is not "right wing"!! This is a vital organization that defends the document and principles that stand between Americans and tyranny. And I don't think anyone needs to be reminded about how important that is right now. The very fact that some people think that ACLU's mission as quoted above is "left wing" speaks volumes...or they are just ignorant... It is actually more rational than it seems because of the history of the ACLU and the kind of cases they have been involved in. And, while the ACLU is not official leftist, the organization is primarily involved in leftist causes. In the opinion of many objective political scientists, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a leftist, secular-progressive organization. They base this on many of the causes that the ACLU has taken on and the orgs history. Communist connection: The organization was founded by far-left social progressives, many of whom were communists or former communists. Most famously, it was co-founded and for 30 years it was run by Roger Baldwin who supported communism for many years although he later denounced it in his book, A New Slavery. The ACLU banned communists from being officers in the 1940's during the red scare but the connection between the ACLU and Communist Workers Party was still very strong in the late 1960's and early 1970's when I had some involvement with them as part of the anti-war movement. Anti-God: In the 1950's through the 1990's they were involved in many cases which resulted in removing prayer and recognition of God in public institutions, including public schools. Civil Rights: They also worked for civil rights since the 1920's. Their support of the NAACP and of voting rights efforts in the South, did not earn them many conservative fans. Today they support many secular progressive causes -- pretty much the definition of the left in 2017. Here's a telling headline from the LA Times... "Once again, the ACLU takes its place on the front lines of a liberal resistance"www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-aclu-profile-20170131-story.htmlWhile they also have defended the freedom of speech rights of far-right wing extremists and defended the rights of people to fly the Confederate flag. Those are the exceptions to what they take on. I am a "card carrying member of the ACLU." The organization does great work and I am pleased that Adam contributed to this organization. And I really can't imagine any Adam fan being offended by this contribution. Why this and not Pittsburgh Pride? Or the Democratic Party (Hillary)? But if I was a conservative, I am pretty sure I would not be a "fan" of the ACLU. Adam is not a conservative. "Surprise."

In my own perfectly logical brain, Adam would be a part of the GM tribute without a second thought. I wonder if he has even been thought of by the creators of the show? I can't believe his name hasn't come up. Why is it always the same acts? (exception: Glad to see Metallica on the show this time. They totally kick ass. Been a fan for years.) But back to Adam, I have to believe that his name came up somewhere. Coming from me, a totally biased and Adam-centered fan, it's time to include him in these things! LOL Maybe an odd point of view, I would like to see him do the Prince tribute rather than GM. He constantly gets the GM look-a-like/copycat comparison. A GM tribute would have to be done very carefully to not escalate that perception and draw away from the event and the performance itself. It crossed my mind the other night when Jason posted the late night IG from Adam's whether they might be doing some wardrobe explorations. I just thought if so, it might be for the tour. Hmmmmm IMO not odd at all. I agree with you -- although I think Adam being involved in a Prince tribute is even less likely than him being involved with the George Michael tribute.

Adam absolutely should be involved in the George Michael tribute, but will he be. He is the best live singer out there today (yes we are a little biased) but truly all these other people are popular but they all use auto-tune & don't have the vocal ability like Adam, but just cause the AMA performance years & years ago, I doubt they will have him do it. Which makes me sooo sad. When is he gonna get the recognition he deserves. Adam gives 110% with everything he does but just can't get the recognition he sooo deserves. Tons & tons of people comment all the time how much Adam looks like George Michael & he sings amazingly well-he should be involved!!! This kinda crap just makes me sooo mad. I don't think the AMA performance matters anymore. It is a matter of fame and popularity. >> In 2009, Adam said he want a career with longevity and that was more important to him that achieving massive fame. I think he chose the right path. It has been 8 years and he is still headed up, not down. It is pretty amazing. There are many reasons why Adam is not likely to be involved in Grammy performances. For starters, he is not a Grammy winner and he has no current music out. [There are exceptions, Katy Perry has never won a Grammy and she will be performing on the show.] His association with Queen is great and financially rewarding, but Queen also has never won a Grammy. So what if Adam looks like George Michael? That is really not how they pick people to be involved with a Tribute. In the case of Prince and George Michael, they will hopefully pick artists and musician who worked with them. **** There are many excellent vocalists. Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga (I had the luck to see her live in a small venue, and she is a fine vocalist), Grace Potter, Adele, Beyonce, Pink, Usher, Drake, etc. Adam is my favorite vocalist but not the only living singer I like.

alisgr8, Adam trajectory has been slowly upwards, not a fast meteoric rise, like many of us hoped for, but it has been an incline since 2009. Right now, he needs to focus on getting something current out, to balance out all the great news about him and Queen. I would very much wish him some award show appearances any time now, or yesterday for that matter, but the Superbowl is really not all that high on lists of must haves for a music artist, tbh. While it is a great spectacular in this country, it is very much focused on popular and mainstream, and for them Gaga this year was kind of out there, tbh. It worked, and they are probably relieved. Queen, including their music catalog, will always be considered a retro-act on the mainstream level. The only way they would have a chance on anything like this is if Adam has a great hit or two that everyone can sing along to, and Adam could open with those songs, and then you bring Queen in for the bombast and the grand showcase. None of that is on the horizon right now. And Adam said that his new album will go more earthy in style, more written to himself and if somebody likes it, then good. Nowhere does he say, I am writing the great anthem to be popular and at the top of the charts. If it happens, it will, if it does not, his career is unusual, and it will continue to be. This many years after idol, his career is sustained on its own merit, not because of idol, and the more the show fades into memory, the more that is the case. This industry is big, and there is room for many more than the few most popular acts. At this time, I celebrate with Adam everything that comes his way, but I am not going to burden either him or myself with expectations that might just not be right for him. I very much get the sense that the muses are looking out for him. Whatever happens, happens. Having said that, I wish Adam were included in the GM / Prince commemorative act. And the fact that he can in a way represent a part of both these very different artists, makes Adam actually unique in this way. I wish that would be properly recognized. Would mean much more to me than some grand TV show spectacular. Maybe it still happens, but if not, on to the next thing. He has a spectacular appearance on Cordon in his pocket, a Queen tour coming up that is clearly selling, and he is working on his solo album. I am a very happy fan. I totally agree with all your thoughts! Feel exactly the same way.

Many OGs will already have that lithograph. Hope it gets the bids it deserves. There are already 20 watchers and the bid is up to $260 -- with 15 days to go. I don't think it will be a problem. It is also, someone who supports the ACLU and also likes Adam might purchase it. I own one of the big Pittsburgh Pride Adam banners -- not because I need a huge Adam banner (with rain dirt on it) but because I support the organization that puts on Pittsburgh Pride and I also love Adam. Same for Equity Maryland and an Adam Miami Pride Billboard wrap I own. Contributions go to a good cause and most of my Adam Stuff is in storage. (It will probably be there when I die and my son can deal with it all. )

BTW...given the horrendous traffic in D.C., I'm considering splurging on a room near Verizon Center. Set the scene: mid-afternoon, sedately battle my way downtown listening to Adam or QAL. Check in and then wander around looking for some good food and also stop by Will-Call for my hot seat tic. Hopefully meet some Atoppers too. Last, saunter into center to locate seat. Outside I wll appear calm and in control. Inside, my heart will be pounding fast, my stomach will be jitter mode & my head will be ready to explode with anticipation. Wait, I feel that way now. July can't arrive soon enough. Really hope to meet some of you. While I've been a quiet lurker, I feel as if I've gained a little familiarity with many of you. Love the humor, knowledge of different aspects of the industry and the thoughtful perceptions you all bring here.
