One of my favorite early pre- Fantasy Springs interview. Learned a lot about Adam from this one. I miss this type of interviews. The hour long ones where Adam usually says more than he intends www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGJNvLi5TiQI remember this interview so well! He was so fresh and eager and new at all this. So perky and enthusiastic. He still is, of course, but he's a lot wiser and lot more in control of things now. I loved Adam then, I love him now, and I don't see anything changing that any time in the future.

Just a little open discussion about Chicago's Lollapalooza festival that takes place August 2-5 on our beautiful lakefront. The festival originally moved around to different cities, but it has found a home in Chicago and has been here for a while. This year, as always, it features some big names like Bruno Mars and The Weeknd. I think Paul McCartney performed last year. There is a nice mix of well-known performers and lesser known artists who are lucky to get the chance. If you're in the area, you might want to check it out. Yes, it's pricey. You can get tickets for the whole weekend or just a specific day. It's a perfect setting for an event like this. Big city, gorgeous lakefront, spectacular views. Adam would be a good fit for Lolla. Maybe he'll get his chance sometime, too. BTW, it sounds like he is really working on new music! Is it my imagination, or does it seem like he's kind of started from scratch a few times? Seems like months ago he was "almost done" but apparently not. I suspect he's changed his approach and few times. Has some new writers, etc. Hope it all results in great album with some HITS!I hope so too. I also hope Adam's music will receive some critical acclaim and will showcase his extraordinary voice. Music with some heft can become a hit, if a label gives a hard push with support and good streaming playlists and US radio play it a lot. Adam was the talk of the town on Idol (for things other than his sexuality) and as the frontman for Queen for his great talent. I see little reason why it cannot happen with his own music too. My older sister who does not follow any acts too closely saw the last Grammy show. SS performed "Pray" tho he was not nominated for anything this time. My sister called and said what a voice on that guy. No. I am not jealous of SS but I'll admit my heart hurt a bit. Blending will not make them play your music more on the radio unless you are one of the favored ones. Showcasing what makes you different and better just might. Love your last two sentences. Adam was not "born to blend." Quite the opposite. That's why we love him so. SS has a perfect voice for the type of music he sings. He's great at it. I can see why people are impressed with his performances, so low and sonorous. He and Adam are so completely different vocally and musically in general. It's always a mystery why one artist is swept up to the heights and fills arenas and the other is not. Some artists are in a gift box labeled "Cool to like. Don't worry. Your friends will be ok with this one." And the other artist is not. The other artist is in a gift box labeled "Might be too much for some people. Your friends might not be on board. Beware. Be brave."

Their songs went to the top of the charts resulting in big sales, big streaming and exposure and nominations and award show performances. Seems pretty evident to me. And I don't think it is about who is "cool to like". It is who is heard and seen over and over again by the masses. Those who are exposed to Adam think he is cool enough to like and rave about. When he was on NYE in the UK they went nuts over him and no one was saying he was uncool to like. But radio still ignored him so his sales were anemic and no invites to perform on their award shows. Just like in the US. It is all about exposure. If Adam had that massive exposure and was rejected then I could go with the not cool enough mantra. But the places where he gets a lot of radio play his songs go platinum and platinum plus. Actually, I don' care what the reasons are but we all sure hope he can get big exposure with this era.

Thanks for the congratulations!
Cool is vague... Growing up as a 90s kid i never imagined posting cats to your instagram could be cool, yet the arguably two biggest artists ou there are doing exactly that.

But the places where he gets a lot of radio play his songs go platinum and platinum plus. Actually, I don' care what the reasons are but I sure hope he can get big exposure with this era. All good points, of course. Just me venting my frustrations. Some have said that Adam doesn't get radio play because his songs aren't "good enough." I reject that theory completely. His songs are plenty good, as good a other big hits. What makes a song CLICK with the radio bosses? What makes a radio station play a song by a new-comer, not yet a star, trying to get that first hit? That first breakthrough hit can lead to lots more radio play. The A-listers will get radio play with every song they come out with. But some other singers get a pretty strong song or two that does well on the charts, and then PFFFT. Their new songs are very good, too, but the radio play doesn't hold up. That, to me, is still a mystery. You're right that repetition on the radio turns songs into hits. Everybody knows the song because they hear it everywhere. And all that leads to TV shows and awards shows, etc. All the stuff that gets you big cred. And the only reason I mention the "cool to like" thing is that once in an early interview, Adam said, "It's not cool to like me." Maybe some others here remember it, too. Some avid Adam fans have said over the past nine years that they don't always talk about being an Adam fan. He can be polarizing. I think the reasons for that are pretty out-dated by now, but still. I totally agree that the UK, OZ and even Asia are a totally different scenario. They ARE nuts for Adam. It's the US that is asleep at the wheel. In the US, he's still not on the major media wavelength where he should be. And US radio? They haven't given him much of a chance. Love having little debates with you, lurleene. We are on the same wavelength a lot of the time. You've always got something interesting to add to the conversation. And we both want big success for Adam.

twitter.com/14gelly/status/1023117801618374657Gelly @14gelly www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/nirvana-chad-kroeger-petition-nickelback-2360208 … "Face it_no one thought @adamlambert was up to the job w @queenwillrock. It's not about imitating Freddie. For @adamlambert it’s about making the role his own, and taking both his own story and that of Queen into an exciting new era." We found the one music critic who thinks a Chad Kroeger-fronted Nirvana is a good idea Face it – no one thought Adam Lambert was up to the job with Queen. The one-time X Factor hopeful was seen as everything Queen supposedly stood against by the holier-than-thou musical bores of the world – you know, those ones who pit reality TV against ‘real music’ as if we’ve only got space for one. But as time went on and Lambert came into his sparkly, flamboyant own, he took to the role with aplomb, and even the gammons were forced to admit that, actually, he’s a dab hand at the classics. It’s not about imitating Freddie Mercury, for Adam; it’s about making the role his own, and taking both his own story and that of Queen into an exciting new era.
