Count me with the ones who love the photo shoot. I can totally see why some would say: ' But he is not sexy ', and yes, I agree. But I don't think every photo shoot has to be about sexy or sexy alone.
Adam has a very strong strong flower power, dreamy childlike side to him, and that is a side that we often don't see in his public appearances. And in these pictures, that side is brought to the forefront.
While the London Dandy brings out the elegant side of too much 'I am in love with my clothes', this photo shoot shows the shabby chique side of 'I am in love with my clothes'. It has a very dreamy quality to it, and that interests me. The irony, that such different sides of dreamy are explored by one and the same person, is just fascinating to me. I named them
- High on something dreamy - - Jesus dreamy - - Wild wild west cowboy dreamy - - Artist intellectual dreamy - Four different characters, but in a strange way, they all represent who he is.
And I totally agree with you that he puts a bit of distance between the viewer and himself in this photo shoot. All four representations are a bit too self-absorbed to be inviting the viewer in, and that makes them not so sexy. But I don't blame him for pushing that on purpose. He's not a lap dog that has to be sexy for us all the time. And so he isn't. But just the self-awareness to understand how all these visuals can come together in an interesting way, if he presents these clothes in such a way, that makes a true artist, imo.
I have so say, I don't know of a any other currently popular male musician, who shows us such interesting facets and artistic creations in a photo shoot. If I go to look at photo shoots of those who are currently popular, I get nothing but same old, same old. Just google something like 'Shawn Mendes images' and you will see what I mean. It's all about him looking pretty, and yes he does, but it's boring, and it does not say anything about him. So, in result, I end up not caring.
With Adam, he holds my attention, because it is him, and yet he does the unexpected. He does it in such a way, that there is something to talk about, or think about. And that makes it fun for me.

I just got home from seeing Bohemian Rhapsody and I feel emotionally drained. It was a wonderful movie and the audience, including myself, got very involved with the music. There was stomping and hand waving and I think we were close to singing along but I also felt sad when I realized how isolated and vulnerable Freddie seemed at times. Rami was an excellent choice but the Brian May character was so spot on...uncanny. I think I'm on my way down the QAL rabbit hole tonight.

I wasn't in love with all the pictures for this photo shoot. And like many, I think the heavy facial hair is too much, tho, others (and Adam) like it. But a few were indeed very hot, imo. Some I did not care for as much. But like everything else, we get to decide for ourselves what we like or don't like about the pictures. Sexy is in the eyes of the beholder. And sexy does not always need to be pretty. Would love to see what Adam looks like with the long hair but with lighter facial hair. One thing is sure, he does not look as if he cares that much about pop or club music anymore. Lawd, can't wait to hear the new music. Can't wait to see more Queen. Can't wait for more acting gigs.

I noticed the isolation too and wondered if Adam feels like that sometimes, and that's why he brings along with him on tour at least a few friends he can trust not to be sycophants. It must be awful not knowing if the people surrounding you are there because of what you can do for them, and not who you are as a human. I very much thought of Adam in those scenes of loneliness. The one, where Freddie was so lonely in the big new house, with all these cats having separate rooms assigned to them, I thought that was so sad. And yet, I think it was probably totally true. On one hand he had the adoration of millions, and they were in his business all the time (and still are to this day - wanting to exploit him for nothing but some sensationalist gay sex scene, grrrr), and yet he was ultimately often very alone.
It is a problem for those that are hot-blooded and energetic like the sun. Most normal denizens can get only so close to the sun or stay in the light of the sun for so long, before they burn up. And if somebody is that sun, well that person is quite alone.
When Adam is on tour he always brings friends, and I am so glad he does. And I very glad that he has some friends that get that role and are able to give him that support on an ongoing basis. For the others, not the closest friends, but rather the rest of the crew, the background singers or additional dancers, I think, they try to fit into a team, adjust to the dynamics of that traveling troupe, and ultimately see Adam as the boss. No matter, how casual Adam may be in his style, the realities of the situation are going to hinder them from becoming too close. That is true for both sides, the boss and the employee, in this case.
True for other jobs too. Never good to get work and private mixed up too much. But especially true, if you have to travel together.

I had to leave for a bit and now we've got all serious! I was going to comment about the reaction to the photo shoot and Adam's fashion choices. For me that has been one of the many fun things that comes with following Adam. He's had a lot of looks that have made me raise my eyebrows and/or scratch my head, but they have been diverse and interesting to say the least. This new look is quite different from the spiky codpiece that we saw in Australia! lol

I think most celebs sometimes wonder if people are around because of who they are and what they can do for them. But it seemed part of Freddie's loneliness was he still had to hide who he was from the public and the adoring fans. Those moments were sad but it did not make me think of Adam at all. Freddie's friends and bandmates were getting married and having families of their own. Thankfully, gay artists can do that too now, if they want that and it is important to them. But even Josh Groban has talked about loneliness/depression on the road and he has been touring with the same group for twenty years. A good support system is great. But hopefully artists will try to find a balance in their touring and personal lives and most won't fall apart if friends/family move on with their lives or careers and are not around as much as they once were.

All true. Just to add: It‘s a film. It took a lot af artistically license. Freddie didn’t move into that big house until much later. And I think, he never lived there alone, but always with 1-3 friends. For all I know, Freddie wasn’t one to be lonely too long. 😉 He had friends and family. And never walked as far away from them (and the band) as pictured in the film. That happened to create some drama. The backstories with the cats were real. They were his children. In an interview he had been asked, if he wanted children. Freddie answered: „I would rather have another cat.“ (He did like children though and really spoiled his godson.)
