Did anyone at the show last night bring a camera like a Canon Rebel and was allowed to bring it in? I went into the Arena from the restaurant and security was very light. fiercelier said she had a camera. but it might be smaller than yours. I think every venue is different and you should check locally.

Ok. I’m at a loss
bohrmian rap. When Brian rises from the floor. His outfit. What is it symbolizing? I don t know enough about queen repertoire to understand the mask and neon lighting. Like a phantom of the opera?
He had just finished his guitar solo where it looked like he was on top of a fiery asteroid and various planets were descending around him. It was a real surprise to see him like this and through the mist it was a bit hard to see the mask. He wasn't on stage for long in that costume and I just thought he was an alien after all the space visuals! I thought it could be part of the Machines or as someone said a few days ago Phantom of the Opera. But it could just be a homage to Frank or to Lady Gaga robot.

Here's my Vancouver recap -- better late, than never! This was the first show, so it was all going to be absolutely new. I'm the type that likes to look at videos, so I know what is coming and what to look out for. Not this time! My daughter and I met mszue and fiercelier and a newbie at the Sports Bar in Rogers Arena for dinner before the concert. What a noisy place! We could hardly hear each other and my voice was already gone pre-concert! LOL We entered the Arena from the restaurant, so security was minimal. Walked a distance to our seats past really long queues for merchandise. We were sitting on the left hand side in the first tier farther back from the stage -- basically the same seats as my first QAL experience. The arena filled up and you could feel the anticipation. The show was 20 minutes late starting which worked out for my daughter's boyfriend who slipped into his seat with minutes to spare. My daughter and I had really been studying the scrim trying to decide if it was a projection or not. It was so well done, it looked real. Plus we were trying to figure out what all the symbols were and why it had what looked like a spear! Even when it was lifted up at the beginning, I was still thinking it was real. This wonderful red curtain with gold rope appeared and parted and Brian was there, then Adam was on the right, then on the left, and then, surprise, they were on the stage rocking it out! There is so much visually going on and you just don't get a feel for the overall production from the videos that I have seen. My eyes must have been darting here and there -- trying to watch Adam, but also all the background imagery. The red curtain opens and there is an audience sitting there. Then we see a tier of opera boxes with what looked like people dressed in 18th century costumes. Eventually, you realize that the people in the bottom opera boxes are real people! This is all very opulent, but then you take a long trip to the back of the stage and the gold, shiny scrim becomes a wooden structure. Ha ha, so it wasn't real!! Meanwhile Adam is singing his heart out. The Show Must Go On was amazing. The image of the columns crumbling in the background reinforced the intensity. I laughed when he hopped up on the grand piano to sing Killer Queen. I was surprised when he appeared out of nowhere on his decked out motorcycle. WWTLF was also a masterclass, although I missed the glitter ball moment. They did have a glitter ball, but that was used later. His costumes were spectacular -- so much bling and so much fringe! I noticed he didn't do the walk about during Radio Gaga, but everyone participated in the clap. The crowd went wild waiting for the encore and I loved Adam's final outfit. The red and gold tied in nicely with the beginning of the show. The people around me stood during the rousing songs and sat for the slower ones. Brian's solo on top of the fiery asteroid, with the colourful planets descending around him was spellbinding. And then he was on stage as an alien in a cool outfit with a mask in the smoke. That was a what just happened moment! The show was definitely fast paced and crammed with music. I didn't even notice that the drum solo was gone until someone mentioned it. And introducing the other musicians was wrapped up quickly. I thought Adam's "I'm not Freddie speech' was a bit shorter and well done. That does get the crowd on board. They took out any kibitzing. It was high energy all the way! Visually and musically over the top! We all had a wonderful time!!

LindaG23 You're welcome! I really did love the show and I'm not complaining, but I didn't get a real sense of playfulness from Adam. It might have been opening show jitters. There are certain bits from the first NA QAL show that, I guess, can't be repeated. I loved his gold fringe shoulder piece, the purple chaise longue antics, hitting the keys with Spike in CCLTCL, and touching the glitter ball in WWTLF. I always watched the videos for those moments. I'm not sure if I got that from this show. It was spectacular though!!

happy This is definitely a real pile driver of a show, fast and furious. Once they settle down, I bet that Spike and that piano are going to be in real Adam trouble, but only the good risque kind :D

LindaG23 Fast and furious is right! It was all a bit overwhelming and over so fast! And then I would get caught up on details -- like what is on his microphone? Then I would catch a glimpse on the big screen and smile. They really thought out everything!
