Created to raise funds and awareness for the UN's fight against poverty, the Global Citizen Festival is the rare concert festival that's about more than just great music: it's about making a difference and making the planet a better place.
The annual Global Citizen Festival, which “brings together top artists, world leaders, and everyday activists to take action to end poverty,” returns to NYC’s Central Park Great Lawn on September 28. As always, “tickets are free for Global Citizens who take a series of actions to create lasting change around the world.”
The year’s music lineup doesn’t feel quite as interesting to us as recent years, with Queen + Adam Lambert, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, OneRepublic, H.E.R., and Carole King, plus guest performances from French Montana, Ben Platt, and Jon Batiste & Stay Human.
Deborra-lee Furness and Hugh Jackman will be hosting for the sixth year, along with co-hosts Matt Bomer, Rachel Brosnahan, Elvis Duran, Taraji P. Henson, Rami Malek, Bill Nye, Joy Reid and Forest Whitaker.
As in years past, admission to the festival is free, and fans can earn their tickets by completing various community service acts. (Learn more at globalcitizenfestival.com.) More info on the festival and how to earn free tickets here.
