Maybe these smaller "one-offs" are to prove to promoters that there is still a demand for his solo performances? If that's the case, I hope they sell out instantly! That’s what I was thinking also - there must be some reason behind these really weird venue choices ...

I don't get why everyone is so puzzled about the one offs. Every record release has had one off shows in the beginning before any actual tour. This is all part of promo and no different from any previous promo rounds. There isn't going to be any actual tour until after side B releases. Promo performances don't bear any relation to tour shows so comparing venues to tour makes no sense.

This is all part of promo and no different from any previous promo rounds. There isn't going to be any actual tour until after side B releases. Promo performances don't bear any relation to tour shows so comparing venues to tour makes no sense. What is different here is that none of these shows are radio shows! All of TOH Nov-Dec holiday shows were radio shows sponsored by radio stations. But then he had a big hit on radio that year with GT and now there is nothing on radio, yet. So maybe no holiday radio shows this year, or they might be added later if the song really takes off on radio quickly. The radio shows really are promo shows as they all have 3+ artist for cross pollination of fans and are heavily promoted on the radio station. There seem to be no sponsors or other promo mechanism associated with the NYC and LA shows. These 2 shows will likely sell out in less than an hour from dedicated fans. No promo even needed for ticket sales other then letting the fans know about the shows through social media. So I don't see how they could be considered "promo shows". I think Adam is doing them for his fans. The Foxwoods Casino show is a different ballgame. Casinos always bring in various artist as part of their entertainment package to entice people to come to their resort facility. And they are looking at total money spent at their hotel rooms, resturants, gambling, etc, in addition to the ticket sales intake from a show. They will even take a bit of loss on the show itself if the total spent by show attendees is a net gain. But the casino show is more likely to bring in non fans, folks who are there for other reasons and just want to see a show and may remember Adam from Idol. So in that sense there is some promo to non fans. And the casinos do heavily advertise their shows. So I do think that these shows serve as a barometer of how Adam can still fill venues and that tour facilitators will be taking note.

He hasn’t done a full length solo show in years. Like 2016? I consider these shows a warm up for him, get the rust out, shake the dust off the old material, try out the new band, work on the set list, etc. Then he’ll be more ready for full tour after side B drops.

I don't think there is any real mystery. Just some small shows to shake off the rust and try out some new music.

I don't think this is to prove anything, it's Adam doing his thing. Why wouldn't he want to perform his solo music. It helps promote it and he only has so much time between the Queen tours which start up again in the new year.
