I don't think this is to prove anything, it's Adam doing his thing. Why wouldn't he want to perform his solo music. It helps promote it and he only has so much time between the Queen tours which start up again in the new year. I agree with you and some others. Why would he need to prove he can sell out small venues? He probably doesn't have time to plan big shows before he hits the road with Queen or with only one half of the album out. But this is a nice and quick way to test some material and keep some fans involved with the new music before he releases part B and can put a proper tour together. He is doing a show at Foxwoods which seats either 2,000 or 4,000, depending on which web site you believe. So he is doing a show appropriate for that size venue the day before NYC. So why not a 2,000 seat venue in NYC and in LA?? Surely NYC & LA have plenty of mid-sized venues to choose from. But there is always some risk that an artist who has not toured for 4 years might not be able to sell as many seats as he did 4 years ago. We whole heartily believe Adam can fill 2,000 seats in these cities, but the venues may be more adverse to taking that risk. In that case, showing them that he can sell out a small venue in minutes would show them that he could still draw a mid-sized audience. This is a very risk adverse business where artist are quickly forgotten. Of course he has to show them. Casinos are much more likely to take that risk.

It could also be simply that Adam WANTS to do a few intimate shows.

I called the Foxwoods boxoffice. Ticket prices for Adam are $60, $70, & $85, at least through the boxoffice. They did not know if any up close VIP tickets would be offered. She said that if there were any, it would be offered by TicketMaster and not the boxoffice.
I checked a few other artists performing at the Foxwoods. ZZTop has VIP tickets in first 20 rows, $275 for a row 8 ticket. The closest ticket still available for Carrie Underwood was row 19 for $300.

I have been there and Adam has played there several times. He may just want to get out there and test some material. He hasn't even released the whole album yet. I don't think the venues are worried that he can't fill them. We see artists all the time with concerts with only 1/3 or half full. So I doubt there are 1K-2K seat venues in NY and LA that are worried about Adam's pull. It could be timing and what is available and him wanting to put some quick shows together. Dec. is holiday time and a lot of places are likely already booked. Anyway, I think some fans will be happy to attend the shows and Adam still has time to put a full tour together.

I hope he finds another drummer before these shows ... the one he has been using is really cute, but her drumming skills are minimal at best, and the gum-chewing is a real turnoff!
