I hope everyone on here stays safe, is safe...if they choose to join the streets or not. I thought this was heartwrenching but beautiful: youtu.be/nzmBWQ2p1sk

I remember the Harlem riot in the 60's that started with a police officer killing a young black man. I guess not much has changed.
It doesn't take much to start a riot. In 2011 in Vancouver which is normally a safe big city a riot erupted after their hockey team lost the Stanley Cup finals. Large crowds had gathered downtown to watch the game on big screens. This had happened for a few games already and everything had been fine. In a review of what happened, it was clear that a small number of people came prepared to make trouble. Then opportunists joined in the looting and even normally law abiding citizens couldn't resist the temptation. Most of the crowd were just trying to get home, many just watched and a few brave souls tried to stop it. It was a very shameful episode.
That was over a lost hockey game, so I can't even imagine the anger that is erupting right now.

It's amazing to me that Adam can express himself so clearly and articulately and STILL have people misunderstand what he is saying. Boggles my mind. He is not condoning violence in any way. He must have been bursting with frustration as he watched all this unfold and couldn't contain himself any longer. I applaud him for speaking is mind.
And the violence rioters have largely been out-of-town opportunists who showed up to accelerate the situation and loot and steal. They are not interested in the George Floyd issue at all.

My parents thought it would be a great idea for my sister and me to visit my uncle and aunt who had a small grocery store in Watts LA in the summer Of 1965. Of course, to my 14 year old self, it was fun to "work".
Watts 1965 was one of the worst times in LA history, and it was started by another African American and white officer. That was nearly 55 years ago, but I still remember the rioting and bullets flying. Some things, sadly, never change.
