I like Pink's answer. My parents and my sister are all Republicans...they have never been racist. That's not an issue with a political party, that's a problem with an individual. Also like her answer about Donald...he's not even Republican. He just wanted to be president. As both Adam and Pink have said this is not about Democrat or Republican. It is about this narcissistic inhumane person and his so called leadership. He is dividing this country any way he can so he can get the respect and power he never got elsewhere.

Donald HeWhoCannot amed could not do the damage he has done without almost 100% support from his party's elected officials. Bravo to Romney and former military leaders for taking a stand. But I wish the protesters and the BLM Movement would come up with a better slogan than "defund the police." The meaning behind it for most seems to be different from the way it sounds and will be easily exploited, imo.

Nobody wants to get rid of the police, what a stupid idea, but that's how it'll be presented. HeWhoCannot amed is already trying it out. It's a really bad slogan. Wonder who thought of it.

I agree. "Defund the police" is a poor slogan that doesn't even express what the real intention is. The real goal is to add funds to local grassroots areas that need more infrastructure and assistance. That does not mean that we "do away" with police departments and their entire funding. There needs to be a better way to express the real goal.
"Defund the police" is already being weaponized. Adam is using it because everybody else is, and there is no other phrase to use at this point.
I hope Adam tweets us a little recap of his walk with the protest march.

Here's a suggestion for a different phrase than "defund the police"!
@donwinslow: #WeNeedANewBlue
Equal treatment for all races
Swift firing and prosecution of dirty cops
Community policing
Focus on mental illness
Helping women and kids who have been assaulted or victims of domestic violence
Less tanks and Rambo weaponry and more help for people.

I'm glad you all are in agreement that "Defund the Police" is a poor slogan. When I first heard it and even when Adam's been using it.....I thought when you defund a gov't entity that means it's being eliminated as it only exists with funding. I see where Minneapolis means it literally and Omar and even brother Neil....but Biden, Booker and others said they aren't for defunding and Harris and Pelosi are dancing around the question.

And another suggestion for a better slogan:
Reform the police, fund the people!
@kurteichenwald: @pgail61 THIS is a good double-chant. One right after the other. Or - Reform the police, fund the people! Has a better rhythm and transition (sliding f rather than hard r)

It's a ridiculous slogan..would be interesting to find out who or what entity came up with it as it pretty much plays right into the opposition's hands. I don't think anybody, in their right minds, would want to get rid of the police.
