If you like an artist's music, follow them and support them. If you don't, don't. It shouldn't matter where the artist is on the hierarchy of singers. I will follow Adam regardless of sales or Billboard status. Queen has boosted him to international status. Yes, it has cut into his solo career. Can't deny that fact. But he has gained so much in the partnership. He gets praise for his solo work, too. We know that, even though it doesn't result in great radio play. But that's life in the music biz. He's dealing with it.
Adam knows everything we are discussing here. He knows full well where he stands. He has plans for next year, whatever they may be. He has the Montreal Pride event on August 16. Sounds like he has a movie in the works with Lino. I think the Vegas shows were selling just fine. Shosh in hinting that he has other things lined up for 2021.
If someone wants to be all gloom and doom about it, there are plenty of singers out there to enjoy.

I have wondered if cancelling rather than postponing the Velvet tour, might have something to do with the music being ‘old’ by then.
He might already be working on new music which he might wish to tour - new, fresh, timely and in a better commercial climate - In early 2022.

I am bemused when I read fans expressing sadness that Adam does not have the acclaim, stardom, stature and success they think he should have. I have known many extremely talented singers and musicians whose talent and skills are vastly superior to many highly successful performers. They have great passion for their art. Still, they are unable to earn a living as full time professional entertainers. They pay their rent teaching, working in the food industry, selling insurance, working in retail, etc. Not slamming any other professions, but I know they would prefer to be able to perform full time.
These folks are happy to perform in churches, in train stations, for elderly in nursing homes, in community gatherings, at the local bar or eatery. They have such a drive to entertain and bring music to others. I see Adam as immensely talented and masterful. But I also know that being immensely talented and masterful does not equate often with being a full time artist, much less one recognized around the world, performing for hundreds, thousands, and tens of thousands. I am thrilled that Adam has achieved so much recognition, acclaim, appreciation, and money. Has been able to live many dreams. I just cannot bemoan where he is as a solo artist or as a member of the best rock band in the world.
Those of you who know me know that I would prefer he was focused on a different kind of music which takes full advantage of that one in a billion voice soaring thru complex incredible compositions. (Yup, I am talking about musical theater, classical music, jazz, american standards.) I try not to complain too often that he has opted to use his voice for music that I would otherwise not pay heed to. But I can only be happy he is doing so phenomenally well as an artist and performer.

He might already be working on new music which he might wish to tour - new, fresh, timely and in a better commercial climate - In early 2022. Agree 100%. That has been my thought as well. There is no way Adam was going to cancel QAL and there may be S. America planned as well. With no Velvet songs on the radio, there would be no way to keep the album alive or the music fresh until the last part of 2021. When things open up, newly released music and artists will get the promotional spots. Adam likely had to make a strategic choice about things we know nothing or little about. The Velvet time drop was unfortunate but no fault of Adam's regardless to how disappointed we may be or how much we wanted a solo tour. And if he is working on new music, I doubt he is going to want to wait forever to get it out there. Then he can tour solo with fresh music and of course he would include a lot of Velvet. This whole situation has been hard on fans but much harder on Adam. No reason to attack him about choices he has had to make for himself. And no reason to expect him to give up QAL. QAL has been an important and smart career move for him thru these hard and unpredictable times. And he is very successful. The biggest in the world, no. But solo career and frontman for Queen have given him a lucrative, worldwide and high profile career. Yay!

I think Adam may well be working on new music, however, the cancelling rather than postponing probably also had to do with whatever had already been planned or booked for 2021. Of course, writing new music could have been part of the plan...

Adam has “made it.” Period. WhatEVER he does in the future (and he has the talent and drive for that to be any number of different things), I will be his fan. More QAL, more solo, more voice acting, more acting, more appearances, more charitable work, back to theatre, or even classical, or opera should he get a hankering to try that (as Freddie Mercury did) - I don’t care. It’s the nature of the business he is in that it is unpredictable, and the pandemic is a huge blow to.the.world. But he is set, and “Velvet” has and will continue to bring many listeners and dancers joy. And I think it gave him great joy on many different levels to have created it.

Once again I have to say 11 years ago- hard to believe it's been that long lol! If you had told me he would be the lead singer for Queen with a successful solo career and an international Superstar I would think most of us would say we'll take it!
One thing now that would be nice is if Velvet could get a Grammy nomination. Hopefully I'm not dreaming lol!
I'm on board for all of it!

My two cents on the earlier discussion... while I wholeheartedly agree that there have to be guidelines to follow on this forum, I would not judge those fans too harshly who appear more straightforward than others with unpopular opinions. I was pretty surprised at the silence here following the RIR announcement and I conclude that many must have celebrated quietly, while others may have avoided a controversial opinion in relation to the lack of attention to "Velvet". Others of course can't get enough of Queen and Adam and are openly supportive, yet those who are less than enthusiastic should not lose their fan badges either. In the end, we are only human and so is Adam, who is navigating through challenges the best he can. Those who continue to be frustrated with his choices and career decisions do in fact move on eventually.

I think Adam was genius to put out part A of Velvet, this without knowing about the pandemic about to hit... We got part of the whole album and he had TV appearances with those songs.. better part of the pie than none of it .. It also gave him an opportunity to talk about part b.. not so bad in this time of the virus. Maybe I'm just a glass half full or almost all full person.

Unless it comes from Adam or from Brian or Roger, I just usually assume it's hearsay or wishful thinking lol. We've been fooled and disappointed before. If it's official...yay!!! I missed it.
