I like some of the CEO ideas! It is much more fun that having to guess what wack scheme RCA will come up with this time. To Slapdash LaRue... That was not me writing the very insightful comments about Adam's music on last page of yesterday's thread. It was CrazyforAdam. I was trying to respond to her comments. Since I don't know how to make the comment box appear, I was trying to copy/paste & messed it up. At the very end of that post, you will see my comment/response to CrazyforAdam's post. Just don't want others to think I wrote the beautiful comments about the music. Q3 comment: I will go fix it. Just click on the word Quote above the comment you want to quote and it will automatically give you a quote with the credit line.

I was just going to post a "thanks" to all the people who commented on my late-night question yesterday about what makes a song sound like an Adam song. So many people have said that they don't think BTIKM and NCOE represent the album. Although I still don't know what that means, I've sure enjoyed reading people's opinions about it--from funky bass lines to a style/depth of lyrics. I just can't hear what other people are hearing. :-/ On the other hand, I can probably tell you which famous orchestral composer wrote a piece I've never heard before because they all have their signature sounds. 8-)

Kind of a shame that the "new" news about Adam/AI has overshadowed the discussion about the new single. I shall take up the challenge, Q If I was the CEO of RCA, the first thing I would do is pay out some PD's and get NCOE on the air. Or, pay out ClearChannel and the other big syndicate that owns all the stations. I mean, come on! NCOE is charting #6 for dance music, surely all these peeps at the clubs loving this song also listen to radio? Surely they recognize the potential of this song from the #1 album......... It really seems like there is some conspiracy to NOT play Adam's singles. I liked BTIKM, and I like NCOE, they are both good songs. Just got to wonder, with all the sucess Adam has had with this album, charting at #1, the great and at least good reviews, plus his touring with Queen, what is it going to take to get his music on the radio? Radio GAGA!!!!!!! Reminds me of Queen and how they couldn't get played on American radio for quite a while........... I really don't understand how this song is NOT being played! For the next single, I would go with Trespassing. I think it could link back to the name recognition of the #1 sales position of the album from Billboard (when it came out) and I think that a lot of kids would really resonate with the theme of the song. Also, many reviewers said it reminded them of "Another one Bites the Dust" and Adam just finished touring with Queen. Although, I would really hate for Adam to do another round of radio promo, but there is plenty of PR to tie into Trespassing as the next single, so that makes sense to me. I think Cuckcoo would aso be great, and Naked Love would also be great, but it is so much the same type of "pop friendly" tune that NCOE was, and that hasn't gotten played, so who knows? First off, RCA cannot pay off Clearchannel, because there is no such thing as payola anymore. Clearchannel got heavily fined and has vowed not to be caught taking any money. Actually it is illegal to take payola. We all know the jingle balls, etc and radio concerts are payola, but in a different form. Adam did the tour the first time around and did everything right, but many stations did not play him. Adam is caught between a rock and a hard place becasue radio spins and rotation has a lot to do where sales are at on itunes, and requests from listeners. So if a song is not being spun, no exposure and no sales. Radio can play as dumb as they want and we as listeners can't do a thing. But if you have a few successful songs, that guarantees spins. Bruno had success, and every song he put out they played. Same with Katy Perry. So Adam needs the exposure of television twice weekly. If I remember correctly, for the first 3 weeks, AI is on 3 times weekly. If he becomes more of a hoopla magnet, radio cannot dismiss him. They would look like fools. Xtina has not had a successful resurgence with her career, becasue she comes across as a bitch on the Voice, and people don't care for that. Yes, she was on the Maroon 5 song, but that was it. No other songs were put out from her album. Xtina was trying to mend her image, but she failed miserably. I think she made it worse.

Holst -- I understand what you're saying, as I grew up with a lot of classical music. I also listened to a lot of rock & pop, and I can always spot a Queen song within a few notes. I think that is what Adam is developing -- a sound of his own.
Regarding funk -- listen to Nile Rodgers music for funkiness -- also the Queen + AL "Dragon Attack" has a lot of funk, for example. Funk usually has a strong bass line and a certain danciness to the beat. I used to love the Commodores, and they are funky, as is a lot of Stevie Wonder.

Peeps talked about the next single on yesterday thread. But most of us were being constrained by what RCA might do OR not think about it as a business decision. It is easy to pick their favorite song as a single is there are no consequences, or for fans to be "realistic" about RCA. I was trying to remove the constraints. IF I was CEO of RCA I would pick Trespassing and I would launch it with massive club events in the Top 20 Club metros -- around the world. And have a mega online event at the same time with live online video from all the clubs (free). Adam would perform a live concert, with a HQ Live Stream and Cable OnDemand. (affordable but not free). I would not focus on terrestrial radio at all. I would put the bulk of the promo dollars into online radio and streaming media. YOU'RE HIRED!!! ;D

Let's see, Mariah is connected to Randy and she has an AI position. Kanye is being considered? His connection with the Kardashians and Seacrest could figure prominently. It's all in who you know, I guess. The plot thickens.

RCA isn't a leader in thinking outside of the box or in keeping up with the newest promo trends. >:( I love your ideas!

QUESTION: Maybe a couple of months ago Adam tweeted a stunningly beautiful pic of himself, his mom, and Sauli. Maybe it was black and white? I absolutely know I saved it, but I CAN'T FIND IT NOW. Does anyone have it handy? gelly? Did the entire Lambert family do a juice fast?!

Existing AI demographics would not watch Kanye. They consider him a boor, immature and out 0f control singer, who needs to be taught manners.
The urban peeps are not going to watch AI for NM or Kanye.
The Kardashian link is even worse, because many peeps hate the Kardashians with a passion and Kanye's link to Kim, would make it even worse.
