Hm, but on a Friday? Don't get me wrong, it'd be good for me, but will it be good for a press cycle? (hee, channeling my inner Randy...for you for me...) Nah.. if it isn't today, I can't imagine them announcing on a Friday. Thats a day when you want to kill news, not make it. That's what I'm thinking. As much as I want an official announcement NOW :4OMG:

It will happen tomorrow. I feel it in the air, where the clouds live. You wait and see.

Concerts not just radio gigs! in SAfrica. WOW Did a little poking around. Good interview by the sponsors. Looks like a a great venue. I have not checked out the other venue...but tickets are slightly less at the other venue. www.coca-coladome.co.za/venue-infoI wonder how they will configure the 19,000 max it can hold for a concert? Alright SA Atopers, this is big venue for Adam...but any clue as to the fan base Adam can support in SA? The floor space is huge so chairs or standing??? Tickets 40 - 58 dollar range/ 2 hr 30 min show. Guessing there is an opening act(s), 20 min interval (yah right!) .... then his set is about 90 minutes. Adam needs to put together a show. YES! Crossing fingers for a debut of any song we haven't been hearing... Excited to see this late last night!!! It's time to move on to promoting Trespassing full time, both the single and the album, all over the world! I'm ready for Adam's music, his single, his album and his concerts! Adam could be spending this down time preparing for a concert set that is more in line with artists who have established themselves. This is no longer a tour for a newbie with one album. Adam now has two albums, and over 30 songs, to draw his set list from and he could include a rotating list of cover songs that would compliment this longer set list. There are many areas of the world that would fully support a mini tour in their area. There are countries, like SA, that have been waiting for years to see Adam in concert.

Glad to see that Adam is heading to ZA. Wonderful country and November is beautiful spring time down there. Capetown has anyway great moderate climate, but spring is of course even better.
I am actually surprised that they did not add a third concert in Durban or Port E., as this is obviously not a country he can visit every year. So he might as well hit all three major metropolitan regions while there. I guess, 2 out of 3 will have to do.
Jo'burg is going to get all the fly-in-concert-attendees from everywhere else on top of the local fans, just like London typically does within Europe.
I used to live in Windhoek, which does happens to have flights into both Capetown or Jo'burg, but many other African nations are going to only have direct access to Jo'burg. And as already stated, the metropolitan area of Jo'burg and Pretoria has enough people to sustain a major concert venue all by itsself.
Adam has been in top 10 in ZA with pretty much all of his singles as far as I know. He is popular and people will come to hear him. When artists from US or UK/Europe come around to visit every so often, the interest is immediate, because it does not happen all the time.
I think Adam will have an amazing time and get to know another part of the world where he is loved, but he himself knows nothing about it yet. Great wine, great Mediterranean cooking as well as diverse African and Asian flavors, its a modern and industrialized country and yet part of Africa. Big divide between rich and poor. Unfortunately, quite a bit of crime nowadays, but that will not be a problem for him, he will be protected.
But if some of you think about turning it into a ZA vacation, which for those who can afford to do so, I can highly recommend, just educate yourself upfront and you will be safe and fine. It is a modern as well as touristic country, there are ways to do this right, but you cannot just run through Capetown and go anywhere you want anymore, unfortunately.
Pm me, if you have questions, I know a few things about ZA, and hopefully our other more silent board members from ZA are logging in and helping me out, where my knowledge ends. Languages: In ZA, almost everyone speaks 2 or 3 or 4 languages. While their own mother-tongue may be any of dozens of languages there are two 'white' languages that are dominant: English and Afrikaans (a kind of pigeon-dutch, which I now only know a few sentences of, but used to speak quite fluently as a child) and then there are 9 different African languages that are considered big enough to be nationally recognized even though they mostly are regionally dominant or spoken in a certain ethnic groups. Zulu is the biggest one of these languages. Then there are dozens of other regional languages too.
Pretty much everyone, speaks English though, so traveling is no problem for anyone from US or other English speaking world.
Its a great country and Adam will have a ball.

WUT, who doesn't want to talk about Idol?? (rhetorical question...I know who you are LOL) I really don't get why people angst over it. I love the speculation! Hoping they'll announce today, since the Voice and X Factor premieres are over. I wonder if Nicki will be in the final mix. I hope Idol hasn't signed Nicki on the dotted line, yet. They need to look at the ratings this fall for the reality singing contests. Viewers are becoming burnt out on these types of shows. AI may find itself in trouble with so many big ticket item judges. The X Factor got a sweet deal with Demi Lovato. They paid a tenth of what Idol is going to shell out for Nicki and it looks like Demi is going to be the "favorite" judge this fall. If I was an AI producer, the latest ratings for TV and XF would scare me. Whatever...they are idiots! Any one knows the rating of XF last night? I heard it was bad, but I didn't know what it was. I watched it last night, and I agreed that it was bad. Britney didn't add much value to the show, except that some of the contestants admired her and there was some sob story about it, I hope Fox exec could learn a lesson about that and re-think about AI judging panel, if they had already gone with MC, NM, KU and Randy. I guess the reason they got Randy back is he is considered an "industry" person as opposed to an "artist".

Old topic from a previous thread -- I've been going back and catching up and read with interest that Adam cannot read music. I was very suprised but then caught myself. I do read music and am very good at counting and have come to realize that it's a hinderance -- sort of like coloring within the lines. I would much rather be able to hear the notes instead of play the written notes. It gives you the ability to go wherever you want. I would imagine the hard part is backing someone who doesn't stay within the lines Anyways, I envy that he never learned the "rules", I wish I hadn't. I think that Adam can read music to some extent. What Neil Lambert wrote on his blog was that Adam cannot sight read music and does not have perfect pitch. >> But there is a big difference between sight reading music and being about to read music. >> If Adam ever said he can't read music -- I do not believe it. We know that he knows a lot about music -- including chord structure. We know from comments from co-writers that he is actively involved in the music composition of songs. (Greg Well and Bonnie both made comments about this.) Even pre-Idol, he did a lot of work with Garage Band and created songs without collaborators. He must have some basic skills. He took some piano lessons when he was young -- not much, but basic reading music is in lesson 1. He worked on playing guitar as an adult -- not much. He studied voice for years in school and my experience with High School chorus is that it usually involves written music. ETA: Idol generated about $1 billion in ad revenue last year. Most of the money goes to FOX and FOX affiliates, and that is why FOX stepped up to pay for part of the judges this year. BUT clearly big name judges do not equal high ratings. There is a thin line between desperation and idiocy. (I think Mariah deal proves they are idiots.)
