I think Dr. Bri has Glambert power + Queen power and will be hard to beat. The "right" answer in this round is Les Paul but I voted from Bri -- I did it cause he supports Adam. As with everything subjective, reasonable people can disagree. I was pleased to see 3 important Guitar World Magazine editors chose Brian to win this match: Jimmy Brown, Senior Music Editor, Josh Hart, Online Producer, and Paul Riario, Technical Editor. I expect Jimmy Page will win his match against Johnson, and Brian will be hard-pressed to beat the Led Zeppelin legend. But, maybe Adam fans will have a surprising impact there. I hope so. If Brian takes the top spot in this survey, he'll most likely get a nice feature write-up in Guitar World Magazine, which could include pictures of Q+AL. [/IMG]
Quick question -- sorta OT -- Is Jimmy Page still playing? Dr. May blew me away -- he came from a time where a lot of great guitarist came to the forefront. But, he's still belting it out -- better then ever imo. It's been so long since I've heard that sort of wailing that it was just really good to hear it once again -- I've been a little too wrapped up in this POP madness lately.

MYS*&@^#R50, MELLIEMOM, ADAMME, BLUEBERRY, Q3, LJSMACK
mys*&@^#r, have fun! My friend just told me that the ticket is now for block H and the seat the nearest possible from the stage. OMG!!! Could it be more awasome? :2tears: He also said that there was still some tickets available today at noon and he didn't have much hard time to do the ticket exchange. He added that the guy at computicket Shoprite was very friendly. Have a good week-end everyone!

Personally, I think declining ratings is the result not so much of over-saturation in the talent singing competition market, or about appealing to a certain demographic, as it is about these shows' formats all having less to do with singing, or even judges, but more to do with who has the best sob story. I don't think a fantastic singer without a real pathetic sob story has much of a chance of making it through audition rounds anymore. It's all become so boring, predictable and pathetic. Ah, yes, the sob stories. They've become laughable. My sis and I snark abt this during the auditions on AI, and usually just identify people by their backstories because easier to remember than names. One recent season, the sob stories reached a ridiculous new high (or low). One's sob story was that her parents divorced when she was a child. They were really reaching with that one. Then there was the one that had the mold allergy. I'm not saying these things aren't traumatic, but the idea of having to cook up a painful backstory for every contestant has become laughable. In AL's season, and I believe in earlier seasons, sob stories weren't focused on. The exception was Danny Gokey, whose wife died. He was criticized for using it to garner sympathy. (That was no doubt unfair and cruel, but I'm not going down that old well-worn path). My point is this that it HAS become too predictable, as Jazzhands said. I enjoyed the earlier seasons when there was more focus on ability, not on overcoming life's crap that most people have to endure anyway. I'm just grateful that they DIDN'T portray AL as a bullied femme theater kid (which he wasn't anyway). People can snark at him not being totally upfront about his sexuality (which is a ridiculous claim anyway--what exactly did they think he was SAYING when he wrinkled his nose saying "not soccer," and didn't we all instantly love the jock-looking dad for laughing along, letting us know it was cool with him?) We'll see how gay is portrayed in AI (you just know it's gonna be so they can show The Voice and others how current they are), but seeing it so far in XFactor, I'm not impressed and I'm personally glad they didn't have the backstory drama in Season 8.

Adam's tweets from last night sound to me like they could have been coming from someone spending time watching videos while holed up (alone?) in a hotel room. Interesting that the contest winners will be announced on Sunday night. It could be a diversionary tactic, or it could be done to take advantage of the Idol spotlight and coincide with giving us the cover art and add date for the single. I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. I know I may be reaching. But I'm holding on until the official announcement. If Adam won't be on Idol, I don't get why he can't say so. I don't think he'd still be under a confidentiality obligation. He wouldn't be "spoiling" anything since everyone in the press thinks the judges will be the four revealed on Katie Couric's TV show and in all the online news articles--and apparently also divulged by Nigel during the auditions. The media doesn't even consider Adam to be part of the equation anymore, so him confirming that wouldn't be a surprise to any reporter following the story. He could casually address it during a Twitter party or just head out to his local Whole Foods in California, far far away from the American Idol auditions in New York. I must say, if Randy is on the panel, I give Idol major props for disregarding any possible viewer resistance to having a heavily African American panel. They will definitely be unique in comparison to their competition's panels. I thought they were trying to mimic them in configuration and diversity (and still think that was/could be the goal). Shoshanna called Adam a "silver fox." Meaning just good-looking (kind of an old-fashioned expression), or also wily like a fox? Or is that a reference to the Fox network? Okay, I admit I'm just playing now (but kinda sorta not, 'cause I'm crazy like that). All kidding aside, I've accepted the possibility of the alternative, but I find that I'm unable to give up hope until it's final. mishaI agree with on Adam's tweets. When he tweeted the contest winners would be announced on Sunday. Why Sunday? Whats so special about Sunday. Not giving up yet, might have to go see for myself on Sunday. hmmm. well... 200 videos at 3min each=600min/60min=10 hour of viewing time. Holy crap, With all he has on the go, I am amazed that he will be finished by Sunday. I wonder if he is making notes as he goes along. I watched about 60 of them last night, some really good ones in the mix.
He plays occasionally -- I think the last public performance was in 2011. There was talk of a Jimmy Page tour in 2010 and 2011 -- maybe with Donovan but it never happened. Oddly he was not invited to perform at the London Olympics after performing for the UK in Bejing. LZ and Jimmy Page as and individual are getting one of the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors: www.kennedy-center.org/programs/specialevents/honors/

Kelly has being the first Idol and Breakaway/Disney to thank for her breakthrough, IMO. She didn't want the song, Breakaway, on her album but Clive Davis insisted, so he figures in her success as well. Her third album, My December, was not the wild success that Breakaway was. She cancelled that tour and changed managers - got Reba's backing and was off to the races again. She has had lucky breaks but she is also a hard worker. As a long time stan of Kelly's I have to ask where you ever heard she didn't want to record Breakaway? or that she didn't want it on her 2nd album? Clive wasn't responsible for Kelly's success, Kelly's new management (after she left Simon Fuller) was and Kelly's hard work and talent. Clive ruined many careers when he reigned over the Idols and he tried like hell to ruin Kelly following the success of Breakaway when she refused to be his puppet. Adam is damn lucky Clive was no longer in charge of the Idols when he signed to RCA that's for sure.

GUYS!!!! I got a ticket to concert at Grand Arena South Africa I'll be in block G and the friend who helped to buy the ticket is now trying to change it to block H or J or K. I'm already besides myself... Actually, I wanted to be in the standing area so I could throw arms and dance and stuff (meaning cry my heart out of happiness), but when I realise my small size (I'm Asian) I'd better stick with the seated zone. I bet even the seated area get very liven up too? After all It's about Adam F Lambert! Now, step 2 is booking hotel room and looking for concertmate while I still have all my sanity ;D OMG YOU DID IT!!!! SO PROUD OF YOU!!!!
