ADAM: I like that coat very much.
TAILOR: Very good sir, would you like to try it on?
ADAM: Hmmm, can you make the sleeves leather?
TAILOR: Yes sir, we can ... the very softest leather.
ADAM: Oh and please replace the buttons with zippers. It doesn't have to actually close, my fans expect legs.
TAILOR: We can do that and your fans are absolutely right.
ADAM: Thank you, I'll take it.

This conversation on facial hair is fascinating. I also thought when I saw Adam's look here; he is in competition mode, doing the opposite, standing out..... but based on the culture's preference for clean shaven, could this work against him? When in Rome..... I am not as taken by the look and performance as others are. I don't think the dancers added much. Where are their typically awesome moves? But as with most award show performances, they are often kind of weird. I am a bit surprised that Adam did not seem that familiar with K-Pop. Psy, really? But he made up for it with his reference to Big Bang wardrobe 
In that Red Carpet vid, Adam said he's not that familiar with K-Pop but learning now, but he did know who Psy was, even commented on what a big star he is right now.
I don't think his Melvin look would work against him at all, at least judging from the Korean Online searching index on Adam Lambert post MAMA performance. The clean shaven look is less of a cultural thing than a personal thing, imo; lots of people on this board (from different regions) aren't crazy about his Melvin look. And, when you're an entertainer you're really outside the norm social expectations whereas a proper appearance is required for one's certain profession.
I thought Adam's dance moves were just about right/enough for the MAMA audiences and the location, some of those overly sexual moves would not go too well, considering the show was broadcast pretty much everywhere in Asia, and he's in an effort to have Trespassing officially released in China and hopefully solo arena concerts in China down the road as well. Adam is a very smart man! |

And I think he looked distinctive, different, and set himself apart with his voice, his look, and his music. I can't see Adam doing anything, in Rome or otherwise, lol, just so he can be one of the herd. It ain't his style. Basically the REALADAMLAMBERT doesn't "fit in" anywhere. He's his own zip code thank goodness.I give his performance and the Red Carpet A+++, JMHO AGREE! And welcome back and glad to see you posted |
