CHECKING IN: down .6 kilo 3.9 k to go (lbs = down approx 1.3 >> 7.5 to go) I have been fresh juicing (breakfast or lunch for usually 3 days per week) for the last 11 months. I am addicted to the kick the juice gives you so, if you can make the time, do try it. I honestly believe that this one change in my lifestyle has been the key factor that has helped me keep the weight OFF that I lost during last year's SHAPE UP (9.35K = 20+ lbs). I'm always inspired by sunshine Sauli's unswerving dedication to juicing any time he and his siiippa go off the "food" rails, > > MY JUICE > > MY JUICE INGREDIENTS: beetroot Carrots ginger root (to taste) lime or lemon (to taste) a couple of apples (or whatever fresh fruit i have e.g. mango, rock or watermeon,)

Checking in... Congrats to those of you who have lost weight! Unfortunately I have to report 0 pounds lost. It was a really difficult week for me for dieting because we had a houseguest & hosted a couple of parties. The stress & all the food around really threw me off, but I hope to do better this week. To be honest, I'm just glad I didn't gain weight!

Thursday - Juice ExtractorCommonly referred to as a Juicer these have two outlets. One for the juice and one for the pulp. You feed in the fruits/vegetables at the top where it looks much like a food processor. The food is grated/chopped finely and then a centerfuge sieve spins with the juice spinning thru and the pulp getting spit out the back. I thought I was pretty hot stuff when I got my Juiceman Jr. seven or eight years ago but I never got more than about 1/2 a cup of juice for a full load of hard to clean pulp. I see Amazon has others that are higher rated so I think other people might see better results. I compost and have back yard chickens and rabbits so my pulp and all my fiber went out to them but it seems that lots of people have found a way to use it instead. Find ways to make muffins, dog treats, soup etc with your pulp.... www.plantoeat.com/blog/2012/06/ideas-for-using-juicer-pulp-or-what-do-i-do-with-this-stuff/

Hi there -- forgot to check in yesterday, but I did exercise quite a bit. I live in a 3 story townhome, and yesterday I got a new memory foam mattress (much needed). I hauled the thing up 2 flights of stairs with my little handtruck, set it up and swapped mattresses. Ooof. I do think I have lost a pound or two by eating healthier as well.
One smoothie I used to make in Arizona a lot is by using frozen non-fat vanilla yogurt (you can make your own by just freezing yogurt--it works well and you don't get other junk the frozen food company puts in), frozen mango chunks, 1 banana and about 1/2 cup of ice. Blend and if you want to, add protein powder for a boost. Yum!

Friday - BlenderSo the other way of making juice or what most people refer nowadays to as a smoothie is with a blender. Chunks of fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables along with milk, yogurt, and or ice are all whirled and chopped together. My Osterizer was great for milkshakes and it did have an ice chipper setting but it's one layer of blades is no match for the three layers of blades on my xmas gift this year. I got my Ninja from Costco at a third of what those vitamixes cost. I did kind of a combination of flowergirl's and stardust's smoothies tonight and the kid asked for more. #win I froze about half a banana and washed/hulled five large strawberries to freeze this morning. Poured in 1 cup of the almond milk I bought yesterday (first taste, thanks for the recommend) added some more almond flavoring and a squeeze of agave sweetner. I didn't add any oatmeal or kale this time but I might next. I liked the frozen fruit and I think it helped having the banana frozen. I didn't have to add ice to get a nice consistency. I've got to make up packets of frozen bananas now so that I don't run out of fresh ones. This thing is supposed to process all sorts of things like pizza dough, cookies and soup too in the smaller container.

I'm here, just nothing to report. I have weighed to know where to start from, and it is not as bad as I thought it would be. Oops, guess the chili I ate last night didn't help much. I knew I wouldn't really be able to start this till after I got back from my trip to Houston last weekend. It is very hard for me to stick to goals and programs, so being here will help, I hope.
I got a juicer for Christmas, and bought a bunch of veggies and friut, so I am interested in good recipes. Have I used it yet? Going to today!
My general goals are to drop 10 lbs, eat healthier, and get a regular exercise program going.

This morning I saw a tweet from Armistead Maupin (Tales of the City author - if you haven't read it, you MUST read it!) about this miracle weight loss pill called Power Slim. My cynical side tells me he's probably being paid to promote the product, but I researched it anyway. Mostly positive reviews but always a few folks claiming it's a scam. Anyone know anything about this? Has anyone tried it?
Hey gingerpf I looked it up and didn't find much online other than possible linked with either hoodia or acacia. So I looked up your author and it looks like he was hacked so the post about Power Slim wasn't his. Amazon has some hoodia lollipops I've thought about ordering. Hard candy to keep the mouth occupied with the possible added benefit of being a hunger suppressor. mahailia, hang in there. We'll help you stick to it.
