Nonotme posted interesting information re the songwriter's meaning in Shout on the end of last nights thread.
To me Shout is just one more way of saying the message we keep hearing from him. See my new signature below and the following quote from the Nylon interview:

17 in the glam family...wow...lots of salaries...lots of organizing for rooms, flights
...great they can be a "family" and enjoy the down times together.
Adam's body has barely seen the sun....even Ashley's pale legs are more tanned!
Well guess his skin in old age will be nicer than mine!
