You've got 9 onstage performers. Two, or maybe three sound guys (from the pic posted), a manager and an expeditor, drum tech, guitar tech, a lighting tech, a props/costumes/stage manager type... that's seventeen, easy. Doesn't seem extravagant or excessive to me.

SHOUT! SHOUT! LET IT ALL OUT! Nonotme posted interesting information re the songwriter's meaning in Shout on the end of last nights thread. To me Shout is just one more way of saying the message we keep hearing from him. See my new signature below and the following quote from the Nylon interview: "I don’t mean to be offensive if I disagree with something or someone. Talking about it and getting passionate about a debate is good for the mind, good for the spirit. It’s good to have strong opinions." I woke up this a.m. thinking about this very thing. I think you're on to something here.

sg.entertainment.yahoo.com/blogs/singapore-showbiz/glambert-don-t-sacrifice-baby-goats-100226681.html‘Idol’ star Adam Lambert on pre-show rituals: No, I don’t sacrifice baby goatsBy Elizabeth Soh | Singapore Showbiz
Fans call him Glambert because of his sexy eyeliner, goth clothes and over-the-top performances, but American Idol glam-rocker Adam Lambert's most eye-opening moniker yet must be the one an ardent Chinese fan gave him.
"I'm not sure if it was a mis-spelling on it, from Chinese to American (English). It said something about my 'Glam-bulge'," said Lambert, bursting into amused laughter. "It's interesting to be objectified, I'll tell you that." Clad in an outfit that looked like it was inspired by S&M bestseller 50 Shades of Grey- down to his smokey grey contacts and metallic silver and black toenails, Lambert was easy-going and spontaneous throughout the brief press conference held on Thursday at the plush W Hotel in Sentosa Cove. When asked whether he would be doing anything fantastic for his Friday concert, he said that he would be keeping things spontaneous -- with two huge suitcases of clothes to swap and change around any way he wants. "I'm pretty impulsive, I don't plan too far in advance," said Lambert, well known for his crazy outfits complete with fur, leopard prints and feathers to rival fellow Glamazon Lady Gaga. Questions about religion and sexuality were a no-no in light of recent media reports about complaints being made that Adam, who is gay, would be performing at The Star, which is owned by the local New Creation Church.

We met Adam Lambert!!! He'll be performing at the Star Performing Arts Centre on Friday, as part of his world tour to promote his latest album "Trespassing". Take a listen if you haven't - it's really really good.

All those 17 people look like they are having a wonderful time. Adam seems to be a great boss. This tour must have involved a lot of planning, but they are all professionals and know what they are doing. I have been curious about what role the middle age woman with the short blond hair plays in this entourage? What ever it is, I think I am jealous of her job.

Doesn't seem extravagant or excessive to me. The promoter (or the sponsor) covers Adam's travel & hotel expenses, maybe even some of his staff members'...depends. In Shanghai, Adam was put up at Le Royal Meridien in the Presidential Suite where Putin once stayed, almost 9000USD a night! Pat came across an article about that particular suite, maybe she'll post it later for us. Yes, Adam has to pay his crew but his managers are on DMG salary (yes, part of it essentially comes from their cut from Adam's touring and other endeavors). Stage hands don't make much, and from what I've heard and read, average sound techs make about $1000 to $15000 a week, same for the backup singers; the backup band, they're basically musicians for hire not part of a real band 'cuz Adam Lambert is a solo artist, they probably run anywhere from $2000 to $4000 a week since Adam is a generous soul, London would be the most expensive and Tommy the second. (According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median hourly pay for average American musicians is about $22.39.) 17 is not a big entourage for touring at all, and from what it looks so far, Adam and DMG have managed a fairly cost effective tour.
