GLAAD this morning announced 153 nominees in 33 categories for the group’s 24th annual GLAAD Media Awards, which recognize media for outstanding images of the LGBT community. Winners will be unveiled in ceremonies March 16 in New York and April 20 in San Francisco Los Angeles and May 11 in San Francisco.

GLAAD this morning announced 153 nominees in 33 categories for the group’s 24th annual GLAAD Media Awards, which recognize media for outstanding images of the LGBT community.  by Browse to Save">Winners will be unveiled in ceremonies March 16 in New York and April 20 in San Francisco Los Angeles and May 11 in San Francisco.

Adam is nominated but I think it is really possible that Frank Ocean will win this one.

My rationale: The voters for the awards are not too dynamic and they have not picked Adam in the past, they will want to recognize Frank in some way, and Adam is getting the big award. Plus Frank Ocean is new and this is his first GMA nomination.

Here is who votes:

Selection of Award Recipients

Nearly 700 GLAAD Media Awards voters contribute to the selection of award recipients in each category via online balloting.  Voters are comprised of three groups:  GLAAD staff and board, GLAAD Alliance and Media Circle members, and GLAAD volunteers & allies (which includes previous Special Honorees, key media industry allies, volunteers from the Nominating Juries, and Event Production teams).

The votes of these three groups result in a final slate of award recipients, which is then given to GLAAD’s Review Panel for certification. The Review Panel is comprised of the GLAAD Board co-chairs, senior GLAAD program and communications staff, and media industry experts.

The members of the Review Panel are expected to view all of the nominees in each category.  The final slate of award recipients is certified by the Review Panel, based on the results of the online balloting and their own expert opinions.

Award recipients are announced at events held annually in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Of this years nominees - Frank Ocean is also the only new nominee:

- Scissor Sisters won this in 2011.
- Adam was nominated in 2010 but lost to Lady Gaga.
- Gossip was nominated in 2010 but lost to Lady Gaga.
- Rufus Wainwright has 7 nominations and 5 wins.

The winners of the nominated awards get announced that night. No one will know until then.

But the award Adam is getting is much bigger and is the one that gets all the press. Everyone remembers Anderson Cooper got the big award in NYC, right? Anyone remember the winners of the other NY awards?   I am going to guess though, that if the music award is not given in LA on April 20th, that there is a high possibility Adam has won it.

ETA: Just read your post, Q3, and have to ask, "Why?" Why do they want to recognize Frank Ocean in some way? What has he done besides release an over hyped album & a dreadful performance on the Grammys?

I think Adam should win this award , I'm greedy that way,but My feeling is that Frank Ocean will win it. Not only for his album,but for his music opening up a gay rights discussion among the rather homophobic rap/soul musicians and producers.Just my gut feeling.


BTW ..just ordered" The Velvet Rope from Amazon",the book Adam mentioned . I want to understand MORE.
