From the SFGN article: "We were unified in mind and spirit that there were local and national newsmakers working towards LGBT equality, fighting for your rights, and standing up for all of us, who you would want to read about. Neither of us thinks Adam Lambert is such a person. Good, he can sing. Good, he became a national star on American Idol. As obvious as it was that he was gay, he also remained in the closet during his meteoric rise to stardom while on the TV show. Now that he is open and out, everyone wants to play off his celebrity. Fresh off being crowned the Queen of Gay Pride in Miami Beach, he is now headed to Pittsburgh in June to play the Grand Madame in their parade. He is a rising young gay star whose career is just beginning, and maybe someday he will take his fame and fortune and advance the cause of LGBT equality. But he has not yet done so. Therefore, seeing him on the cover of our newspaper a few weeks ago made my partner and me puke. In fact, for all intents and purposes, consider Pier Guidugli the co-author of this column. We are 100 percent on the same page about this issue." . . . . . . . more Seen all I need to see - they used Adam - I have to believe these two prize idiots knew what was going on in their paper. Some people have no shame. Don't need to give them hits. They will be taken to task, I am sure.

I'm speechless. All they have to complain about is that he is famous artist and therefore he is promoting gay rights by his music and his presence and not by him being a gay rights activist? I will never understand this.

What a sad thing to happen, but I think the best thing is to ignore these idiots.

The article inSFGN reflects the lack of research and personal knowledge of Adam and reflects poorly on them. While I understand their sentiments about honoring some longtime supporter who has labored under the radar, it's naive to think that GLADD would select that person to headline a fundraiser. Maybe in addition to a celebrity, who knows what they do, I don't follow their work enough to know. The hypocrites are also using Adam to get hits. How's that for conduct unbecoming? I would say write a letter, if you get riled up and can't contain yourself.... BUT NO HITS or comments to their site... let it be, ...that is the best thing to do, in my mind...like worthless shit on the heel...wipe it off on the grass and walk away. (poor grass) Adam creates an amazing album, not shying from the gay anthem...and he cannot get "played" in the US.... but he still marches on trying to work on his craft...trying to raise awareness in his own way....even if it has to be predominantly outside the US. Oh.....yah..... and duh, who did they nominate to GLAAD? No mention of whom they would have like to have seen win the award. Did they take the time to honour those in their printed pages?

Yeah...maybe your right. I wanted the people reading their stuff to know the truth but making our points by writing letters and NOT giving them hits is probably the best way to handle this. Cassie please right a letter to them!

I think it's just a pr move. They saw how many hits they got from Adam's story, but probably nothing since then. So they decided to ride the wave, stir a little controversy, bring people back to SFGN, and draw some attention to the publication itself. That's my take anyway.
