Wikipedia describes it best - and it really is only celebrated in the state of Puebla in Mexico celebrating Mexico's victory over the French in 1862. I'm in Mexico and there is NOT A THING going on. However, May 1st was Workers day and is a paid federal holiday for all. Lots of parades, bands and bottle rockets going off all day. Banks, government, etc all closed. May 3rd, was Dia de la Cruz or Day of the Cross and is celebrated by ALL construction works who put crosses on all sites that have construction workers of any kind. Then at noon they all stop working and it's time for cerveza and tamales but the fireworks start at 5 AM and go on until midnight. REALLY LOUD!! I just turn up the music and listen to Adam all day! CINCO DE MAYO IS HUGE IN CALIFORNIA!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

RL has been very sucky lately and I haven't been here forever, so it was funny to see my quote about the Moon Garden on the front page. Like future Crispy came to me and said "Log In! Juniemoon is talking about the Moon Garden. What do you mean you can't remember your password? Are you drunk? You're a waffle, not a burrito!" (also, where has burrito been?) Just wanted to send kudos to Aleks on her lovely letter to Adam about creating A3. I, too, believe there has to be some sort of transition time to get into a different head space after Trespassing and ending a relationship. That's why I'm so intrigued by the Nile Rodgers tweets. I think he's working on a new song with Nile that has nothing to do with A3. My guess (hope) is that he doing the theme song for the Will Smith movie that Nile is working on. The movie is After Earth, the next summer blockbuster from M. Night Shyamalan that opens in July. Nile tweeted a picture with James Newton Howard who is listed as the writer of the original score of the film. Maybe this is another 2012 situation - having a song on what will probably be a huge blockbuster hit would be a lovely way to transition into the next phase and get his name back out there. Ah well, a breakfast food can dream. If Adam has another song on a movie soundtrack, I hope it's featured at the beginning of the movie or in the middle instead of at the end over the credits. In the theater in which I saw "2012," I was the only one who stayed through the closing credits. The people who headed for the Exits as soon as the movie ended didn't know what they missed! |

It makes perfect sense to me that Adam would do a song for the movie. I loved TFM and thought it should have been a hit. Now you have gotten me all excited! A couple miscellaneous things:
Could all this blogging and tweeting by Nile be about music for a movie? Will Smith's name keeps being a hash tag, and I don't know that he is doing music anymore. (ETA: I see Crispy just posted this with more info while I was writing.)
Just read Slezak's article about Season 8 rock week. He really is a fun writer. I didn't see most of the episodes that Adam was in (had to keep up online the day after performances). I didn't see rock week, but feel like I did. Lot's of fun.
I mentioned that I sent a DVD of AL's AI performances to my brother, who asked me to send him some more Adam stuff. This is a man who doesn't watch tv and has no computer. I got home last night to his phone message that ended "By the way, did Lambert win?" Ha!!!!!!
My last tidbit before I start on my tasks for the day (no schedule, no rehearsals, no concerts, no lessons to teach--whew). IF Adam ends up performing on Idol, could it be with Queen? Dr. Bri said they are very much in touch recently. Maybe they could do an AT&T spot.

With concerts in St. Pete and Jakarta our guy has shown that he is willing to go into the lion's den to entertain his fans and spread his message of tolerance and inclusion.
Yes, Cinco de Mayo has become a real holiday in California. I love it because it's the one day a year that I can eat rica y sabrosa comida mexicana (the best food in the world IMO) without a nagging feeling of guilt over the calories.
Beautiful essay Alex. I don't know what it says about the educational system in US or abroad, but I am always amazed how some of the best writers on this site have English as a second language. So impressive!

Bringing this form yesterday's thread as I want to thank mshadows77 for uploading and posting the full version. ![]() It's been a slow day so I though I'd share this. I just uploaded the full performance of wicked, the one that Adam plays Fiyero in. I found the download link to this a long time ago on Tumblr, so I thought I would put it on YouTube so everyone could watch it. Oh and just a side note these videos might be took down because I got a copyright notice when I uploaded it. But other wise enjoy the videos!!!  I actually expected to have more of Fiyero singing, but it was great to see Adam acting which for the most part was excellent! Makes me want to see him on TV/movies even more... |
