OT but I need some help please!! My brother and I disagree about Adam and though he admits Adam is good singer he is not impressed with him. Foolish boy! So now...he wants to have, what he terms, a (cough) 'sing-off' between an Adam song and the country singer George Jone and his song "He Stopped Loving Her Today" which I never heard because I just don't like country music. (ugh) I mean no disrespect to those who like country but it's just not for me! Well I listen to the song so I could see where it was coming from so I could select an Adam song that was either fast or slow to compare to the country song. Well the Jones song is a slow emotional ballad type song so I was thinking using Underneath and either using the song from the album or one he did live. If I did a live performance does anyone have a suggestion what would be the best one to use? Is their another song I should use...maybe Soaked or Sleepwalker? I could add the Stay + Underneath combo Adam did live too. I'd appreciate any thoughts on this. Seriously...an AFL and George Jones 'sing off'?!...I think my brother has lost his mind and is going cuckoo! lol Yeah...I just went there! I want to leave my brother in Adam's dust!!! Any help would be appreciated!! There is no help for your brother, sweetie. If George Jones and that song are the epitome of great singing and interpretation for him there is nothing you can possibly play for him to refute that. I am not a country fan, I admit. But ignoring genre, from a purely technical point of view from a singer, George isn't anything special. If you consider tone, breath support, phrasing, or range this song is not impressive in the least. The lyrics pull at the heartstrings like many sad country songs do. However, George doesn't do a lot vocally or interpretively to enhance the lyrics. It's prety much the same delivery throughout, without an arc. I understand that for lovers of country music, George is one of the greats. His style fits the genre. I would guess that your brother finds it very moving. But what George does is light years away from what Adam does. Fans of George Jones and fans of Adam have totally different criteria for judging. If I were to pick a ballad that Adam sings that has touching emotional content I might suggest Come Home or I Can't Make You Love Me. Just don't expect your brother to declare Adam the winner. It ain't gonna happen.

Water under the bridge -- I am ready for A3.

My suggestion is the Idol performance of Tracks of My Tears with Smokey doing the intro. www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6YyyD_4gwU

I often have trouble voting in these polls because when I click on the link I just get the results. I'm not sure if it's just me doing something wrong (because my daughter is always amazed at how I can mess up technology) or if other people have the same problem. I am usually good with technology, but I had to look at the poll for at least 10 seconds before realizing there were vaguely outlined checkboxes on the left side of the poll options. I checked the one I liked (shaven!) and the bar grew correspondingly. Of course, it is possible that some browsers have trouble displaying or activating these checkboxes (I use Google Chrome). But I think it is just a design flaw in this case - the outlines are REALLY barely visible... Hope this helps. Thanks you, yes that did help!!! Now I have voted that I can't make up my mind so that really has helped the poll results. Hah! However, I'm glad I was able to vote as I know Q3 puts a LOT of effort into this forum and the least I can do is participate in her polls!!! Also I'm a great believer in democracy and that means it is a great privilege that we can vote and we should always making an effort to vote.

When I made my self watch the whole Jones video it seemed like the same ole'..same ole' of the few country songs I've heard. You are definitely right...no arc...very same sound throughout the whole song. Oh well...I'll give it a try. My brother does like Queen and thought Adam did a good job with the song I sent him...WWTLF when Queen and Adam did their mini tour. I'm surprised he even watched it. But country? I don't know where that came from! lol ETA: Just saw your Tracks Of My Tears suggestion, Q3. Great idea, too. Think my brother will be getting a few Adam songs from me!

Hey, MyS*&@^#r, regarding voting, did you see Kryptoman68's suggestion? And, I, totally agree about Cuckoo -- I would love to hear that blasting out of my radio.

Just to clarify, Shirley Halperin has always been a big Adam supporter. I think this is something that has been well established in the fandom. She likes him. Do I understand how this particular article came to be? No. But Shirley likes Adam. Forget the whole cover album thing, what is unsettling to me is that the label, apparently, does not know what to do with Adam. It is July, and there has been no decision on a direction for album 3. Yeah, I was shocked that an album of covers might possibly be considered. But, looking from RCA's angle I see where someone might be suggesting it. For the label, it would be "safe," cheap, and a fast Holiday buck. There would be no need to work radio, but he could still do the talk show thing. Maybe they just want something quick and easy to sell as stocking stuffers, and since Adam has no interest in a Christmas album... Shirley is a reporter and gossip columnist, not an Adam fan. She has been fair in the past but she is not like Ann Powers and Lyndsey Parker who are clearly fans. I have no personal issue with Shirley but she did post a rumor with little to no support and tried to support it with a patchwork quilt of stuff. When did Adam say anything about a Christmas album? Dec 11, 2012 Phillips & Company talk with Adam Lambert (This was Vh1 Divas promo.) Start listening for Christmas album question at about 3:10. cbsy98.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/adam-lambert.mp3
