Winks, interesting observations about the impact of the judging panel. I've never watched a full season of AI; I'm more of a SYTYCD addict. I've watched Season 8 (just Adam) online and I started watching Season 9 because Season 8 videos were so good. Finally got totally bored except for Elvis week (HAD to watch that with Adam mentoring). I've watched any episodes when Adam was on as a guest and I can tell you that I was so underwhelmed with the judging panels I knew I'd never watch the show in its entirety. I would love to see the judges comments cut WAY back so we might actually get to hear a contestant perform an entire song instead of 90 seconds or whatever it is. I like the judges on SYTYD because they know what they're talking about, they give great notes, and you see those dancers grow tremendously throughout the show. THAT's a good judging panel. That's what I'd watch if Idol had that kind of panel of judges because I like to learn from them, too. And Adam would be that kind of judge, he's already shown how good he is when he mentored. He'd keep the show about the contestants, not about the judges and that's part of being a GOOD judge.

I have to admit that Adam being a judge is sounding less probable, but JLo and Will.I.Am ??? Yuck!! It would be great if he did some mentoring because I think he really would shine there. Anyway, whatever happens, it will work out because the Universe has his back!!! ETA: Hahaha! Atop changed my question marks into an appropriate smilie! :D

I see Robin Thicke appreciates Adam's support. Last year he was a judge on an AI-type show called "Duets." I remember when Robin was talking to a contestant about persevering in the music industry, he mentioned that he has a hard time getting radio to play his songs. I guess he just found the right combination this time.

I do not believe Adam has been jerked around by Idol. I think that what appeared to be going on in 2012 when Adam was a bit in limbo-- tour decision, third single and so on-- was connected to RCA breakup and not Adam waiting for an Idol decision.
I know that Adam really wanted to be on Idol last year, but that is different than Adam thinking he had a deal.
This year it looks like there really was a plan to do an Idol panel but that would not work without Kelly or Carrie. Both have consistently said they are not interested.
I still think that there could be an outside chance for Adam to be on the panel but there is. But I think it is close to impossible that he has a secret deal that was done weeks ago.
Finally, Fuller will not be an advocate for Adam. And Fox will be looking for audience demo blocks -- country fans 30% US, African American, Latina need to be covered. If JLo says yes and there are 3 judges, there is no place for Adam. You can't swap JHud for JLo and keep wia unless there are 4 chairs. So the Wrap article makes no sense.

He'd keep the show about the contestants, not about the judges and that's part of being a GOOD judge. But I have to say that idol went downhill after season 8. It wasn't just because they had found the ultimate contestant, it was because Simon and Paula had gone. I know Simon was there for Season 9 but he was only physically there mentally he was already doing XFactor. There was something about Paula's ditsyness and Simons sarcastic caustic honesty that made the show compelling. There was real chemistry. It didn't matter that Randy was totally bland because the other two were entertaining. Without the other two, Randy's blandness was all that was left. JLo sees things from a mega successful diva with little talent point of view. Maybe she could have given the girls some insightful comments but I seem to remember she was highly critical of the girls v boys. I don't think she adds anything to a judging panel. There have been no compelling judges since. This may be an unpopular opinion but I found Nicki Minaj the most entertaining judge last year. She was just as honest as Simon but the nastiness with Mariah got in the way. I often didn't agree with what she said but then I often didn't agree with Simon in past seasons. I think XFactor is not working for Simon because of the shows format. The fact that he has an invested interest in some of the contestants stops him from being brutally honest. I was devastated last year when Adam didn't get to be a judge. This year, I'm less invested. If he gets it then I'm happy for him but if he doesn't it just wasn't meant to be.

I watch all the singing reality shows and these days, I mostly just fast-forward through the judges' comments and watch the talent. Of course, that would all be different if Adam was on the panel!

This is twice in two days that this message about "people who love the things you love" has shown up.
The first was yesterday when Avicii says he has nothing to prove.
"For me it will be successful if it resonates with people -- no matter how many," he said. "It's what I stand for, so whoever loves it loves what I love. That's what fans are to me."
This this beautiful video.
I'm glad to be with you all who "love the things I love."
