Hi all. We always need a thread for INTENSE Forward Motion and by golly isn't that what Adam said would be happening this year? So everybody, get on their bikes and ride! Oh, rules of the road. You don't have to want/need to lose to join. That's why we call it shaping up. You set your goal even if it's walk more or just eat better. We take cheerleaders too - as you can see. However if you do want to see some pounds disappear we have had some pretty good luck success here. So come on into the gym, introduce yourself and pick out your favorite equipment. We made it the whole year last year so we've got some staying power.

Hi - I'm Jablea. I'm a shape up thread junkie. I think this is my fourth year of starting the thread.

Hey! My goal is to eat better, healthier foods, cook more from scratch, and exercise more. In the coming year I have a goal of being able to walk two miles in 30 minutes (I can currently walk 1.5 miles in that time). I also want to find a yoga class and improve my flexibility. This is my second year in "Shaping Up."

Very belated Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday.
I see Jablea has been preparing for next year already! I'll be back participating as I have 10 lbs to go to my goal. I don't think I'll make it by my goal date of mid February, but am determined to lose those last 10 lbs. and maintain after that, so I'll be checking in every week. That will be my goal: lose the last 10+ lbs to my total weight loss of 60 lbs. and keep it off, and do regular exercising, mostly walking.
Did not weigh myself yesterday as I was away and travelling home, so I'll take stock again next Wednesday. I'm sure I'll be up, but am trying not to go crazy with eating!

I'm ready to go too. I do water aerobics 3x a week -- one class is aerobic and the second class is stretching, flexibility and strength. I also started swimming laps. Now I need to start eating better and less. Although I've been faithfully following the exercising I haven't dropped a lb -- just inches. I'm happy with the fact that I've stuck with something but not happy that I haven't been able to adjust my food. Glad to have some support from a like-minded community!

I want to join, but that thread is kicking me out of pro boards. Since I had knee replacement, I've finally joined Silver Sneakers and gotten into exercise habit. Haven't lost a lot of lbs yet (12) but feel better.
Happy new year!

Check In Day - Start of the Year
Wow, after last night's concert everyone may be dragging themselves in here and I've been late so I'm getting set up early.
For any new arrivals we will be keeping with our Wednesday Check in day since in worked so well in 2013. In other words, every Wednesday you stop in here and tell us what you've been up to and if you want to share your goal whether it is pounds lost or walking farther or more often. Some people have regular check in days thru weight watchers and they check in on those days instead so they don't have to weigh twice.
We also encourage posting anytime of the week if you have something to share or a question to ask. When I'm ambitious I'll usually drop off a topic a day to help with discussions and share ideas.

My first check in for 2014 is a good one! Down 1.4 from last Wednesday. Although the month of December was pretty much a flat line on my tracking chart I finished the year out well. Official Year-end recap I started my journey on Dec 30, 2012 weighing in at 182 lbs. On Dec 31, 2013 I weighed in at 137 lbs making an exact 45 lb weight loss for the year. Unfortunately I didn't start tracking my measurements until February so I don't have a truly accurate start on those from my heaviest but I will edit this post later with a summary of inches lost for the year from when I did start tracking. Good luck to everyone and if anyone wants more info on how I did this feel free to pm me. ETA: Useful links Salad in a Jar

Ok, my starting number is 16. My goal is to get that number to zero. I've got my food tracker started (I'll share that tomorrow).
I've never lost weight until I started these threads and while I've never been one that's lost all I needed, this group has always kept me from gaining.
You all are my heroes.

I would be a newbie - not so much to lose, but to maintain. Over 20 years I have lost 40 lbs - not much in the greater scheme of things, but it has stayed off and each year, a little more, until I had shoulder surgery in July. Was improving, then setback - now maybe more surgery. So my actual physical workout has been pretty much limited to walking, and the weight is getting harder to control easily. Just adds to the overall frustration and lack of willpower. Plus, right shoulder, right-handed - I get grumpy (no, bitchy is a better word - my husband is being very nice about it). So, may I join in? - perhaps you all can give me the occasional kick in the pants to keep up the therapy and walking :-)

Jablea, thank you for your"call to shape up" in the main thread!
I see some very impressive results - just look at rihannsu!
I have a relatively modest goal of loosing 5 lbs - 7 lbs this year and mainly maintaining...
I use "Lose It" phone app to track calories... I jog/power walk about 90 min/day/5 to 7 days a week. I do need to start doing other forms of exercise, so this is something I will work on this year as well.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
