Just one really odd coincidence. I picked 1988 for today's Twitter countdown -- and featured the 32 #1 songs from 1988 including "Man in the Mirror". Can anyone tell me how that happened????? Cause it is just a bit freaky!! And NoAngel and I do not coordinate! ??? So odd... @monterrific Monte Pittman Busy day today: photoshoot for Rising magazine, lunch with @lisarrific, then The Cherry's listening party, then Transkontinental rehearsal 7 minutes ago via web Wonder if Adam will be at the listening party?

So, what am I doing wrong with the blog? I click the link, the page opens up, but it's like a single image. I can't scroll even though I can tell I'm not looking at the whole page. I registered with the blogger people and tried again, same result.
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but I can't think of what. Any suggestions anyone?

Been catching up on the thread and want to thank Q3 and NoAngel, once again, for their wonderful, thought and discussion provoking posts. On the private concert, count me in. If mys*&@^#r's works out, I'll help you with EVERYTHING - mys*&@^#r - I cant be more than a couple hours away from you, max. If you need someone to like stay with the quest of honor before and after - I'm your girl. On Jacob/Adam, I see Jacobs point and I strongly believe in calling out bigotry when I hear it, albeit in a calm and, I hope, rational, way. As a liberal living in Orange County, I get lots of opportunity. :-/ But Jacob, in this situation would be better off just performing his (traditionally built) ass off. IMHO Adam's approach to life is so strong and so admirable. That's why I loved his "It Gets Better" message. He encouraged positive attitude and action. It gets better, but you have to be the catalyst for the change. HE KNOWS OF WHAT HE SPEAKS!

However (and BIG disclaimer here--the only Idol episode I've watched all season has been the one Adam was on, and I'm not a regular Idol viewer in anyway, aside from Season 8, for some reason, but I've been following it loosely through you guys): I want to stand up in defense of Jacob here (not that you attacked him--what you did was far too reasonable for an attack). The impression I got from his comments was that he was talking about one specific thing: American's voting patterns this season with respect to race. I know nothing about the semi-final rounds, but lets look at the finals for a second. Contestants were voted off in the following order: Ashthon Jones (an African-American woman), Karen Rodriguez (a Latino woman), Thia Megia (of Philippino descent), and Naima Adedapo (another African-American woman). Not a single white contestant in the mix. If Jacob had been voted off, that would have made a "clean-sweep"--every person of color on the show voted off, one after the other, leaving only white contestants. You can say what you like about who deserved it, etc., and I'm sure you'd be right, but that would have been a pretty fucking striking pattern, a pretty damn embarrassing one for this country, and I'm with Jacob--it would have indicated that it's high past time for voters to look themselves in the mirror. I don't think for a second that Jacob was just talking about himself here, feeling the victim--I think in his mind was every single on of his fellow contestants of color who had been voted off (exclusively) before him. You gotta believe they talk about that shit back-stage. (I think it needed to be said, and btw, for Jacob to have said it after he got voted off, rather than before, would have seemed like sour grapes, and gotten him even more grief. (Disclaimer: I'm not a Jacob stan, he is not in the category of "one of my favorites" this year. ) ITA. I've been watching this whole season, including the audition rounds. Jacob has always come off as a super happy, positive contestant. His statement last week shocked me, because he hasn't been one of those contestants who talks back to the judges, plays the victim or gives off the attitude that he is superior to the other contestants. On several occasions, he has been moved to the edge of tears after the judges have given him praise for his performances. My guess, based on Jacob's personality and attitude before last week, is that the ouster of every.single.contestant who was not WHITE was obviously something that he felt strongly about. It must have really bothered him, to the point where he made a statement such as the one he made. Frankly, it bothers me. The fact that the voters primarily vote for white, straight males is something that is not only dragging down the reputation of AI, but is personally killing the enjoyment factor of watching the show. I watch AI for pure entertainment value. I don't really care who wins and I don't vote. (not after season 8) The racism and sexism may or may not be there, but it does seem like there are certain patterns that point to the fact that these problems exist, and it's really pissing me off! >:(

Can someone else let me know if you can get to the blog at: adamtopiablog.blogspot.com/Q3- Me again. I can get it to work using the link in your quote, so I tried the hyperlink at the top of the page, and that one still doesn't work for me. Q3 comment -- if you block pop-ups, link at the top of the page will not work because it opens a new window.
