Nate really is a studio singer- not a live singer. I was surprised by how bad he was doing STL at the iHeart show but I thought maybe it was just an off night. Then I watched him perform his new single on The Voice recently... he really does just shout the whole song. Yikes. But I agree with everyone; if someone is just determined to dislike Adam, you're not going to get them to admit his vocal talent. Even when it's glaringly obvious.

I don't know what she's plugging, if at all. Does anyone know? The only thing I could find is that she's pregnant, so I guess at some point of the show Adam will be asked if he wants to have children...

Exactly) I know some diehard Queen fans, that really hate Adam, like he did something bad to them personally :D Even a tiny-tiny mention of Lambert and they're ready to curse everything related to him)) Programmed to hate, like we - to adore))

I like Nate just fine on radio, but I've never seen him in a live performance on TV that didn't make me cringe...I usually hear a lot of off-key shouting. And even in his recorded work, there don't seem to be any dynamics...it's all just loud. I'll take Adam, thank you! Adam is a marvelous interpreter of a song. He delivers a line or a phrase differently, depending on the meaning and intent of the lyric, depending on the melodic movement, and depending on where in the song it is. He tells stories with his performances. I suppose it is all his musical theater training? What is even more impressive, in some cases he delivers a whole story with just one word. Or even one sound! Listen to Underground, where "frozen" seems to be the equivalent to "nervous" in MW. But he is not just frozen (not moving in time), but frozen AND shivering, by just adding vibrato to the "NnNnN" in the end. Never thought one could do that on a consonant, but I am not an expert. Since you are, what's your take? www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IJlzrswbI4&feature=youtu.be&t=17

My cable provider (RCN) guide has Adam's episode on Tuesday, May 19th at 11:30 pm ET, not Monday....check yours! I hope Ms. Decker is a little less talkative than the ladies in some previous shows (on Norton, on Andy Cohen), those two were just obnoxious...I know, this has been discussed a couple of days ago...

We are likely to get more Nate vs. Adam as we move closer to album release date since they are releasing albums on the same day. Looks to me like one of them will have the #1 album week of June 15th. I am not sure who will win but it could be close!
Both artists have similar marketing challenges --
> Nate needs to establish himself as a solo artist and they seem to have wanted his single to be a bigger hit -- since FUN's success was based on hits, this was a sensible strategy. > Adam is being relaunched. GT is being used to sell the album -- everything seems to be focused on the album presale -- even the promo push timing.
The promo strategy for the two artist is similar but the timing is very different.
>> Both artists' promo strategies are focused on selling album. >> Adam has a bit advantage on social media. "Ghost Town" made some people reconsider/reassess their opinion of Adam. >> Nate has more commercial success in pop music and more credibility within the radio industry. >> I think Adam has the best shot at #1, but I am biased.
Both albums are from WMG -- but different divisions. Nate is with Fueled by Ramen and distributed by Atlantic in North America and WBM internationally.
Both Adam and Nate will be in NYC the week of June 16th -- album release week.
>> I do not see any other big releases on June 16. >> Jason DeRulo (WBR artist) releases his album on June 2, 2015 -- at that is the biggest release in the couple weeks before.
Lead single:
Adam's lead single is headed up the Top 40 airplay chart, Nate's "Nothing Without Love" (it is older and peaked at #29, released February 23, 2015) is moving down. No sign of a second radio single for Nate.
NWL has just peaked on HAC at #14 there. GT is at #29 and heading up the chart.
Retail/iTunes strategy:
Both artists are offering 3 free downloads with album pre-order. (We still are waiting for the #3 Adam track but there will be three.)
Both artists have bundles and special stuff for fans.
NWL is promo priced on iTunes for $.69 and is/has been outselling GT. Currently at #52 was up around #27 after The Voice performance.
GT has been mostly around #220.
Pre-Launch Promo:
Adam looks like he will be in the US until after the album is released.
Nate is in Europe on tour -- left the US last week after appearing on The Voice and Tonight Show. He returns after his London concert on June 10th. He has a concert in NYC on June 17th then heads to Toronto for a concert on the 20th.
Adam has been focused on radio promo and has his biggest promo week so far this week. Has the GMA concert on June 19th.
***
Adam already has one #1 album -- I would like him to have a second one. But I would trade that for a high-selling album any day of the week. So this "horse race" is going to be fun to watch; the big prize is will either album sell > 250,000 units in the US? [That is the new high bar for albums sales.]
And will streaming and TEAs be the "decider" of the #1 album w/o June 15, 2015? Will there be a split -- one winning album sales, one topping the Billboard 200?

YES!! This is big! “The Daly Download with Carson Daly,” a weekly countdown show that is nationally syndicated to more than 110 radio stations in the United States and Canada. I hope this isn't a completely daft question, but would each of those 110 stations count as individual spins, or would it be one spin with a combined AI from all of those stations? I seem to have forgotten some of these radio rules since the last go-round! That is over 110 spins -- some Top 40 and some HAC and some are not monitored. >> I have not listened to it yet, but this counts if they played the whole song. If they played a clip, it will not count. Sometimes they do not want a syndicated spin too early because there will be a big bump up in spins, then the song will fall. I cannot find a current station list or a count by format this is from Feb 2014 when they hit 100 stations: The Daly Download with Carson Daly – This Week's Top 30 airs on 14 of the top 20 markets. Affiliations include WNOW, New York; KAMP, Los Angeles, WBBM, Chicago; KLIF, Dallas-Ft. Worth; WODS, Boston; WWWQ, Atlanta; WDZH, Detroit; WQAL, Cleveland; WVMX, Columbus, OH; WHBQ, Memphis, TN; and WPXY, Rochester, NY. Most stations broadcast this show on Sunday.

Just did an experiment with my 25 year old niece. I played the Ghost Town video for her and asked her honest opinion.
When Adam's face first appeared, she asked "That's Adam? He's HOT!!!! No more makeup?"
At the drop, she started dancing, and said "Wow, I could just imagine dancing to this song at a club in Vegas. I need to download this." She continued to dance throughout the song and kept saying "I like this".
I then showed her Adam's instagram pic of his buffed body sitting on the work bench and she said "WOW".
I also told her that he had just toured with Queen and she never knew that.
After I left her, she said, referring to the song, "I loved it".

Brooklyn Decker is a Sports Illustrated model and she also plays Jane Fonda's daughter in the Netflix show Grace and Frankie. It's a new show so I'm sure she'll be plugging that.

But I agree with everyone; if someone is just determined to dislike Adam, you're not going to get them to admit his vocal talent. Even when it's glaringly obvious. The audience loved Nate with Queen at iHeartRadio. He was energetic and lively and fun. He got the audience really involved in singing along. And FUN was so happy to be on stage with Queen you could feel the joy and happiness there. But one song was enough, FBG started to become painful. >> Many people only stayed for that last, post Katy Perry, after 5 hours of music performance because it including FUN. This was a pop audience mostly filled with people born after 1980. Very few Queen fans there when the set started. Adam is the better vocalist and IMO a much better fit with Queen but Nate/FUN has a ton of fans. Something has happened to Nate's voice -- it was evident at iHR in 2013. He started to have issues in 2012. His response to this has been to become sort of yell-y and manic. It does not work for me. And I think The Voice performance was not great.
