Unfortunately, No! In most studies about countries' vacation times, the USA comes in at the bottom. :-/ I have a friend in Finland who has 8 weeks off this summer! Here it's usually 2 weeks, sometimes 4. Very rarely do people have more than 4 weeks vacation time.

@jianghomeshi It's the 25th anniversary of sexual orientation being added to the Human Rights Code in Ontario. Here's to Pride and no going back. #PrideTO Jian is a CBC reporter (He interviewed Adam when FYE was released) Thanks for posting that interview. I had forgotten how good it was on so many levels. The tone, the questions, the professional video, even the ambience of the studio.

I so agree about Sauli,he has a sunny, positive personality with a lovely sense of humor. Americans barely take the week or two weeks they usually get for vacations. Many are afraid of losing their jobs especially in this bad economy. Europe is so advanced in terms of health care for all, education for all and vacations to recharge your batteries. I used to get two months off ,in the summer ,because I was a teacher and schools were closed. IMHO,Most people work way too hard here in the good old U.S. We have it very good here, but it is sad that there seems to be many people who don't appreciate it and want even more :(. There was a story about it in our newspaper that we live such a safe pampered lives here that it's starting to have some negative effects too.

I work AWS (Alternate Work Schedule) and get every other Friday off. If I wanted to, I could work 4-10's and have every Friday off.

Also, I spend quite a lot of time preparing for next fall, cleaning my music room, maintaining instruments--blah, blah. It's never been all time off for me. Plus, I'm so busy and stressed during the school year, I don't get much of anything done in my personal life--chores, house fix-ups, etc.

I guess about four weeks is the most common here too plus some in the winter time, but there are of course the teachers that get maybe about 2,5 months. Also some employees are really nice and exchange your holiday money to extra holiday. Do you have holiday money? It's the money they pay on top of your normal pay check when you take your summer holiday. I don't have holiday yet myself as I'm a student. This summer I don't have a job as I'm working on my written work. I don't know what it is in English, but it's the written work I have to complete to get the lowest university degree (not master's theses yet).
