Hubby works as a Director for JetBlue. He basically gets unlimited vacation days. He doesn't abuse it, but it's a really nice perk. And we get to fly free - even my dog Shadow.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy 4th of July to all my ATOP friends. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to MegGlitteryAlien and glambamm86!! I would also like to mention that today is Lee & Scarlett Cherry's 2nd anniversary. I wonder if Adam is doing something with them since AI tour prevented him from going to the wedding and Glam Nation kept him away from the 1st anniversary. '' That would be a fun way to spend the 4th for A & S. We're going to a music festival tonight, 6 bands and lots of typical community things. Hubby's band isn't playing, but we know everyone who is so it will be like a family reunion. I'm trying to remember the last time he was around for Independence Day. When I taught, small liberal arts college, I used to opt out of summer assignments so I could relax, get renewed, enjoy LIFE for more than just a job and material things. If employers only realized how much more productive employees are when refreshed and enthusiastic, many things would change from IBM to the local grocery store. My husband and I are both cognizant of that when dealing with people who work for us in one capacity or another. Hence, our lives are happy and filled with people who are still friends even when they are no longer in our employ. I think one of the reasons, ONE of the reasons, I am so taken with Adam is his ability to balance his life. Yes, when he is on tour it is 24/7, but times like now when we don't get to see what he is up to, I think it is a mixture of hard work and good, good times with family, friends, and Sauli. This goes back to what Leila said about it being about happiness as well as success. I can't imagine there being anything that would get Adam down for more than an hour or a day. His life is too full of the things he chooses, not what others choose for him.

I do the exct same thing. I never get paid for overtime - ALWAYS ask for comp time. I have about a week of it accumulated right now. [grin] The psychological bonus with comp time is that - if anyone tries to whine at you for stepping out for a few hours - you can shrug and point to time sheet and say "its comp time - already earned those hours"!

Or you can be like my goofy brother who has easily 15 years in with the county and obsessively accrues comp time then never spends it. He has literally months saved up and TONS of vacation as well. Then he told my nephew (who he is a single father of) that he couldn't take any time off this summer because he "didn't get paid." My sister (who takes care of my nephew while brother works) opened up a can of whoop-ass on him, you can bet.

I have worked for a couple major US-based retailers with extensive international operations -- it was always difficult to execute projects in Europe because of the work hours rules and vacation time. But Asia and Canada were just like the US with almost no work rules. I can't imagine working a "40 hour week" -- I would need to get another job to stay out of trouble. ^^^^Yeppers! ;D ;D ;D Been "exempt" (US law doesn't require overtime) for 34 years. Can't even remember a 40-hour work week!

I wanted to say that for the next three days I will be offline. Yeah, I knoooooooooow... And it's AT LEAST. Went to the eye doctor today and she prescribed some eye drops that dilate the pupils. No TV, no Internet, no reading or anything straining the eyes. In other words, no twitter, no Atop, no Adam pictures!!! Of course I will be tempted by text alerts to look here and there, but I won't see shit anything, just blurry shapes. I will heavily rely on music and memories of Adam's smiley face. Jesus, I sound like a total whiner! I selfishly hope that nothing exciting will happen in Adamland while I'll be walking like this or this If everything turns out OK, I will catch up with you guys in 3 days. Have fun!! Oh dear. Be careful and don't drive!!!
