I am so pumped up by Adam's performance tonight that I can't go to sleep. So, here is my review. "But it's been no bed of roses. No pleasure cruise. I consider it a challenge before the whole human race, and I ain't gonna lose! We are the champions." Adam Lambert burst onto the national stage in the 2009 season of Idol. An example of how talent can be discovered, molded, and created by the program, and then, go on to a successful recording career. ...... NOT! Adam's whole life, since the age of ten, has been focused on being a performer and artist. He studied his craft for years, he pounded the pavement, he knocked on hundreds of doors which were mostly slammed in his face. He was undaunted. He continued to build his voice, build his performance skills, build his knowledge of music of all kinds. He had the talent, he had the training, he had the experience, he had the vision, he had the determination and perseverence. At the ETV awards show on November 6th, Adam dug down deep and called on everything in his impressive arsenal and gave us a quintessential performance. This is not an emerging artist. This is not an effemeral pop singer here today and gone tomorrow. What we witnessed, what we heard, what we saw, was Adam claiming his place as a world class performer with confidence, skill and power. The vocals were amaaaazing. He used all his technique, all his knowledge of his body, and produced a sound that was strongly influenced by his classical training and background. It was much more than singing the right pitches, hitting the right notes. The sound evoked the power and finesse of an opera tenor, while modifying it to fit the classic rock numbers. His articulation was crystal clear. His attack, his subtle bending of notes and phrases gave the performance the emotions inherent in the songs. He claimed the stage with his posture, his presence, his prowling. At the same time, his performance was in service to the tribute to Queen, never elevating himself above the song or the members of the band. He started his ethereal vocals in shadow, as if saying, "Who I am is not important. What I am singing, what we are creating, what we are paying homage to is key." He threw the focus repeatedly to Brian May, encouraging him, acknowledging him, egging him on, enticing him onto the catwalk with him, leading him out front to his fans. He at once threw himself into the performance with total abandon and fearlessness, subsuming who he was into the greater total of what was being created. Yet, by doing that, and by doing it so masterfully, he was also being quintessentially himself. I do believe that only Adam Lambert could have accomplished that performance that night. Adam has arrived. Adam has claimed his power and his place. It is magnificent to see and hear. A great review, Cassie! Was headed to bed, but after reading it, I think I'll have to watch one(?) more time. One would think after watching/listening so many times, the emotion wouldn't be so "right there." But it seems to be growing instead of diminishing. So after close to three years, I think this ride is far from slowing down! And I feel so lucky to be on this ride - and to be riding with everyone here. And it looks like we're really just pulling out of the station... Am so happy for Adam and Sauli - and us!

Gah, that man can sure strut in some heels! gah so sexy, and he wore leather pants!! made my wish come true You can’t strut like that, wear those boots, or wear that coat if you’re 5’9” with stubby legs, so those of you who haven’t committed yet, Team Legs is open for new members for a limited time only. I'm team everything, yeah cause I'm easy like that. But I happen to like his thighs more then just the legs tho, ;D

Play it in the car. Or in the background. As part of a mix tape. They'll never know you're sneaking in some Lambert. It's Queen. What's not to like. And if they don't like Queen, or Adam, well, then music clearly not their strong suit. haha, should have probably tried that sooner -- but good plan, can't hurt to try now. And two of them are musicians... Lol, quoting myself. But caught one -- sort of! Put the video on with sound up in another room and my youngest, the non-musician -- an engineering student and kind of a curmudgeon --was intrigued. Yay me. Shhh... By the way, the video of the performance is seriously addicting. The frequency of viewing on my part seems to be increasing exponentially rather than abating...

I'm glad you didn't think there was any stress. To me it did seem like he was pushing it (maybe more in watching it than in just listening) and not something he'd want to do every day. Reminded me a bit of Time for Miracles where the producer pushed him more than he wanted. Here at least he could back off and put it where he wanted and of course for a measly three songs (ha) he could take it all the way to the end wailing as much as he wanted to. LOL! No way! No more than he pushed it several times a week for several songs a night for nine months on tour! This was NOTHING!!! I think Adam knows his voice by now!! I know he does, which is why he lowered the key for his tour and mixed soft with hard songs and sitting on stairs acoustics. Here he's bringing much more vibrato over, and pushing it on each song. But I always forget when watching a short set that for longer performances they'd mix it up more.

I've been unable to tear myself away from the computer most of the day rewatching the epic performance, except to watch it on my tv. It was so amazing and it's all been said by now, Glad you de-lurked.

Where is everybody? I know, gone to bed or on to a new thread, but I hate to see this 142 page thread die. I was here for the party through page 116, then went to sleep in the afterglow of the explosion. So now let me just slip in a quick warning to all haters (mods pls don't erase): RESISTANCE IS FUTILE !
