Btw, I really hope someone posts only that performance from the REAF Holiday Gala. I really, really loved that duet. It was superb! Catte Adams has a wonderful voice too, and they did some really interesting things with the song, beautiful harmonies... I didn't really care much for that song before (I kinda thought it was a bit boring, but it could have been just the performer, nvm) and now after hearing these two sing it, I just want to listen to that song on repeat! Adam Lambert & Catte Adams - "You've Got A Friend" - Dec 4, 2005
www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WnwUVlD20U&feature=emb_logoI loved this performance, lots of great belting by both. I had another interesting reaction which took me a minute to figure out. I kept wanting Adam to look out so I could get a better look at his face, but he seemed to mostly look at Catte. My first thought was because he was young and inexperienced, Adam was not engaging with the crowd as seamlessly as he does now. Then I realized, he was still a creature of the theater and interacting with the actors on stage is what you do. The audience is primarily spectator not participant. The rock star engaging with the audience came later. But it does inform why his rock star era duets feel so much more authentic. Just gave me a funny feeling of how time passes and our experiences cause us to grow and change.

Love seeing that 2005 You've Got A Friend. Adam was certainly showing his chops! It was a real wailer of a performance. I agree with the previous poster who said that way before Idol, Adam was performing a lot all over the place. People knew him. He didn't just pop up out of nowhere and show up on Idol. He had lots of experience under his belt. I love following this amazing journey with Adam so much.
Like most of us, I have plenty of things to deal with in my life, some very difficult. Being able to share this world of Adam and the joy he brings is a very valuable thing to have. He's a bright light!

Jeff Calhoun interviewing with Carson Cressley. Jeff obviously knows of Adam and his ability to sing. He spoke of no one else at length...just Adam...yet he thought Adam was a Broadway boy. And was in Les Mis, interesting how or why he thinks that. Misperceptions re Adam abound.
I thought it was kinda sad to hear Jeff express the reality of theatre performance being blue collar status versus arena size shows for some performers. As much as he would love to get Adam and Adam's voice into a production...I guess he is implying that might be hard to do. it is still a wonderful compliment to Adam to see this guys face when talking about an opportunity that might never be. HIS Wish!
Adam knows well the patterns of 8 performances a week with stage productions and touring productions.
Well Mr. Calhoun----develop something original and who knows!
Adam is always changing his looks.
I smiled---He was back into a very youthful look--- light facial hair for the Cyndi charity event.

I got the feeling, listening to this Jeff Calhoun, that he was implying that musical theater would be a step down for Adam at this point. Singing in front of thousands vs. a theater performance.

Just watched the Calhoun video. He sure admires Adam, but he got his facts wrong. Adam was never in Les Miz on Broadway. He must have been confusing iit with Adam being in Wicked in the LA touring company. Adam was never done a Broadway show. Adam sure gets a lot of respect from people all over the music world. Not doubt about that. Calhoun mentioned writing an original show for Adam. Now THAT is something that Adam has talked about. He would love to do an original show with an original role that is perfect for him. Same with a movie. I'd love to see both. His job now is to keep busy and stay in the public eye and keep himself out there.

Oh, Yes... I was saying what you are saying...that is why I said it was sad for Jeff to have to admit -- Musical theatre is a step down...for Adam, but the reality is reality. Whether Adam ever does a musical theatre project even if an original script/score was offered, will remain to be seen. Hard to know if Adam is just being respectful of the theatre industry when answering those types of questions, as many of his closest friends are in that profession. Yet also wise to keep all doors open.

Yet also wise to keep all doors open. I'm sure Adam IS being respectful to the theater community, but as much as he loves to perform, he's said himself there is no room for improv in a theater performance. Since none of his shows are ever the same, whether QAL or solo, I think it would be really, really difficult for him to be on stage, night after night, and do the same thing over and over.

svca Good point about "no improvisation"...unless improv was written into his contract. Adam could never contain himself! LOL!
