It's been fun...before I head out, my thoughts are with Adam. As fans we have been waiting for a year for new music. But what has this process been like for Adam? What is he feeling now that he is finally releasing his first single? From his executive-produced sophomore album?? Is he realizing how much he is loved by so many? ( We crashed Twitter and probably Amazon..  ) I hope he is basking in the glow of this creation and continues to do so as the album release unfolds. I think of the countless hours he must have spent in studio, with various writers and producers. The hours he spent alone wondering what direction his music would take. Wondering, perhaps, if it would be embraced. Having doubts, dreams and a vision. So I send all positivity to this courageous man who has once again managed to unhinge us all. May he continue to do so. All happiness and success to you, Adam! Awww Vivlite this is really beautiful. I would so love for Adam to see this. It kinda sums up how much we appreciate him. Thanks! |

I am anxious to hear the bridge because on the demo it was a long instrumental. I think Dr Luke might have done something completely different with it. There is a freeze on the Mediabase charts at the end of the year -- but that is different than what happens on the radio. The Mediabase charts freeze tomorrow until January 5, 2012. Radio stations keep playing music. No one really cares about the airplay charts -- they care about airplay. AC stations shift to a lot of Holiday music in December. HAC stations add in some Holiday music by popular artist in December, but they play a lot of best of the year hits. Not as much new music. Top 40 stations play fewer current hits because they do more best of year shows. This song is not going to AC, the format that goes Christmas crazy. They will push it to HAC and Top 40. BTIKM will get airplay. Thanks for re-lesson, Q3! So, Billboard will have a chart for the last week in December? And Adam's debut will be on that? (way up, knock wood) But Billboard uses air play don't they for ranking. Just wondering how the whole thing will work for the official "It debuted at..." horse race stuff people do. I clarified my post -- to make it clearer. The freeze is a business practice of taking a break for Christmas -- the charts are produced, they just don't change much. And very few new songs are added to playlist. To complete the cycle, very few new songs are released. So there is little new to add. Billboard/Nielsen competes with MediaBase and the Billboard chart is based on Nielsen's airplay measurement (BDS - Broadcast Data Systems). |

Q3 - I am constantly amazed at how much you know about the music business. Wonder if you can claim some sort or write-off on your taxes for operating an "educational" website?? ???

Thanks, Q3! So the radio charts are frozen which means we have 3 week of angst free time to enjoy the single without worrying about any numbers! Woo-Hoo!!   Sorry to disappoint y'all but we will get numbers and we will prob angst for no reason. The Christmas Freeze doesn't mean there are no charts. So 12/18/11 -- be ready to start counting! I personally have no plans to angst. King Joe has cut a deal with Clear Channel. BTIKM will get airplay. Now we'll see if non-fans like it -- that is the test. Regarding the Nickelback comment -- are you kidding me. Seriously does not sound like Nickelback. More like Back Street Boys but in a good way. Ohh.. that makes me feel better. I like Back Street Boys and in a good way is EVEN BETTER-ER ;D ;D ;D |

I only know the parts that relate to money, strategy, marketing and promotion. I know nothing about how music is actually made or how to spot talent or all the important things about the business. |
