Okay....here's my two cents on the very puzzling promo .... RCA is a business, so when they released BTIKM early, the fans did get a Christmas present, but that was not the underlying reason for the early release. If we don't see something big from Adam ASAP, then I'm going with the idea that RCA is testing the waters with fans and social media. Adam is recognized as being effective on social media stuff, so it makes sense to me that RCA would like to see what results they would get with his music....he's a good choice for this type of research. But it is very puzzling as so many have said here. When January - March comes, regular promo will ensue like all other artists. I do expect high-profile stuff, cos I believe RCA is behind Adam 100%. And, of course, I'm hoping for some other out-of-the-box promo for him as well....just cos he's AFL and it fits his MO. Have a taste of my naivete. I actually thought that BTIKM was released December because the lyrics go " Cold as ice And more bitter than a December Winter night..." :  : : And nobody could have predicted about this bar fight how well it also goes along with the lyrics. Not the reason for the Dec reliese but gives so much more meaning for the lyrics ... Waiting so unpatiently to hear Adam singing this LIVE and interpreting the lyrics. It's reflecting his life now .... |

I am going to use Kris Allen's promo, during 2009, as an example here because the RCA guy in charge of radio/song promo now, was with JIVE at the time. Apparently, he is called "The King!" He had Kris doing radio interviews at every major station there is. He had Kris booked on every major Jingle Ball.... the big ones, NYC, etc. LLWD took off. I firmly believe, without that radio promo, LLWD would not have taken off like it did. On the other hand, RCA banked so much on the AMA performance they had Adam booked in NO Jingle Balls. They had to try to plug him into some, last minute to introduce other acts. : All the radio promo is the way one plays the game of getting a single played. Adam needs to do it all. I think he will get more print promo, with magazines, etc. and that may be the part that is "different." DMG seems to like that stuff. If Katy is any example, expect to see Adam on a cover near you soon! Adam is huge to us, but in reality, in many markets he is not. He still has to play the game to get played. Hopefully, after this single and the 2nd one (which I think might be bigger & better) he will enter that elite group of Pop stars that gets anything they release added immediately, Bruno, Gaga, Rhianna, Katy..... but he is not there yet. ITA with all your post here. If only RCA did what Jive did with LLWD in 2009, WWFM will be bigger than what it was and he would reached platinum for his album, but that's an 'If only talked" and it's in the past. Adam still needs radio play, even Gaga still needs radio play. So I'm glad that the radio guy or "the King" is in charge of his radio promo this time around. Since we're now talking his 2nd chances to really going BIG. THIS IS HIS TIME. I believe in BTIKM and I believe his album is going to be amazing, but I also want that acknowledgement from the music buyers in the USA, UK and the world NOT only us his fans. So, they really need to promote him hard on the radio. He is the Best Male Vocalist in the world in this decade for pitty sake. I want him to get that title on next Grammy award, not Bruno Mars or Bieber, but him Adam Lambert. I want him to perform at the EMA MTV award as Adam Lambert next year and singing his song. ETA: but I also still want Adam to perform with Queen at the Olympic, and want Queen to choose him to sing the James Bond song :-[ :-[ :-[ |

I kind of hope RCA has some new innovative "cutting edge" promotion planned for Adam, as opposed to the "usual" promotion they have done for Kelly, Daughtry, and Cook. Those artists seem to be on the down slide, and don't have anywhere near the sales they used to, so I hope, they can work Adam in some new avenues that will generate interest that those artists have lost. Even though it was brought to Adam, I think things like the Queen appearance, are different, unique, and those type things will help him become more broadly noticed. Whew, logged on because I wanted to see my stars. I've been really busy lately on a hectic 12 hour a day work schedule, with nearly a day off leading up to the holidays, for like the past 20 days with work. I've been mainly on twitter. (primarily having SusieFierce talk me away from some crazy ideas  ), and have only been able to mainly lurk here and just barely catch up for the day before it was over. Anyway I'm just happy to be able to take a breather, now that I finally have a couple of days off. :D I just wanted to make a comment on this, regarding why RCA aren't doing the standard/usual promo for Adam as they have dome for Kelly, Daughtry and Cook. According to that Toby Knaap blog, (If he can be trusted and believed), he said something to the effect that RCA seems to be gearing up Adam to make the same impact to the radio/pop music landscape as Lady Gaga, so it makes sense that they're strategizing in new and interesting different ways for this era to really blow up, to catapult Adam into music royalty and not for Adam just to substan good to great sales, that will have him to be decent until the 3rd album. And yeah this sound like fan hype, but it seems like this is being said by a lot of the bloggers, radio and music experts, etc., who were and weren't fans of Adam during his first era. |

I cannot share all the angsting. The thing is I believe Adam is more of an artist than a marketing product. If Adam get to pop superstardom good for him, I suppose. If not, he can do really good music and I would love that. If you stop to analyze it, BTIKM is a GOOD song. Inmaculate vocals, production... Even if you don't like it, nobody can say that it is a bad song.
