Album sales and market value (Wikipedia): 1 USA 37–40% 2 Japan 9–12% 3 UK 7–9% 4 Germany 7–8% 5 France 4.5–5.5% 6 Canada 2.6–3.3% 7 Australia 1.5–1.8% 8 Brazil 2.0–3.8% 9 Italy 1.7–2.0% 10 Spain 1.7–2.3% As Gelly has said, the British are important because they set trends for the rest of Europe. But I think I'll hold off on suicide watch. I don't disagree, because I know nothing, but I have a very strong personal feeling that Finland gets its trends from USA, not UK. I have no idea ... I just meant though I know UK is important, the US accounts for a huge, huge percentage of sales and influence. I want Adam to be a hit in the UK too but it seems a lot more important that he be a hit in the United States. Regardless ... doing all I can! Not going to angst! Q3 comment: These shares are way out of date -- here are the numbers from 2009 IFPI--
US 24.5% Japan 22.8% Germany 10.5% UK 9.3% France 6.2% Australia 2.5% Canada 2.2% The Netherlands 1.8% Italy 1.6% Spain 1.4%
US based artist generate the most global sales by far. Japan based artists are #2 right now.

Chunkey! don't even go there; step away from the edge quietly now Erm did you ever READ my post? LOL. I was not saying that I was simply responding that our discourse here is a lot better than the angst I see elsewhere and we should be allowed to discuss out feelings here--good or bad--without being chastised as long as we are being reasonable about it. I mean I don't angst much, but when I have my moments of ZOMG here and there it would be nice to know I can express my opinions--get feedback and discuss it like adults--without having to feel guilty about it. It's those who claim epic floppage with an intent to troll that is the main problem imo. :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ Does that convey my embarrassment enough. The only thing that made my eyes water was the reference to the big red highlighted bit. Sorry, it must be a language thing. 'Floppage' took my mind immediately below the belt I'm afraid. GB floppage is not something to be made light of . Sorry, just my attempt (pathetic obviously) at a little humour. :-/

It's not early for a UK single release timetable - if they add it next week, it'll be cutting it fine. The first week sales of a single are everything. Huh? I am so confused. I thought the single wasn't scheduled to be released in the UK until Mid March?? ...again - Z100 here in the US hasn't added, why would we expect the UK to add so soon? (maybe I misunderstood the release dates :-/) That what I thought too. That's what Shoshanna has said, that the UK does it differently and the singles come out closer to the album date. I really am not expecting Radio 1 to add until the single charts higher here. And if RCA has another single up their sleeves, right before the album comes out, I am OK with that too. To me, it will show that they have a game plan. That they are not "sleeping at the wheel." And we would get another song early! What I don't want to see is for them to let a single languish. The next few weeks will tell. Right now everything is fine, IMO. The spins are increasing nicely. Yesterday was a great adds day!! Sure, I would love to see Adam get 50 adds in one day. But he's not at that level, popularity wise yet. Save this post everyone, becasue I am predicting that his 3rd single off this album will get 50 adds its first day!! ;D If Z100 doesn't hop onboard say by the Feb. 21st add date, then I will contemplate angsting. And if Z does not fully come on-board by 2/28, then I will go into full angst mode. But I don't think RCA is going to let this album fail. They have too much invested in it and it is AMAZEBALLS! The single is available here to buy on 12 March (with the album on 19 March) so if Radio 1 start playing it next Wednesday, the song will have just 3 1/2 weeks on the radio to reach saturation point in everyone's minds so that they all go buy it that week. It almost doesn't matter if they play it after 12 March. It's not anywhere near that absolute, but imagine everything about the US single release process and flip it backwards. Thank you for this info, this makes perfect sense and it fits with what Shoshanna said when asked on twitter why the single release date in the UK is so late (compared to the US, etc) So based on the recent tweet from Shoshanna (in response to Leyton), if Radio 1 does not add, it looks like she is hoping that the song will chart high enough/sell well in the first week just based on Glamberts and Adam's profile in the media/on tv. Then, if the song charts high enough, she's hoping Radio 1 won't be able to ignore Adam anymore. What's your opinion on that?
