Mad World was one of my favorite Idol performances from Adam. But would also add Whole Lotta Love, Ring of Fire, Tracks of My Tears and Change is Gonna Come. He was exciting and much talked about every week. Win or not, those performances put him on the map and gave him a career (which was more important and helped him more than a win, imo) HA.

Tracks of my tears was my favorite...have listened to that song so many times...and he looked gorgeous.
I wouldn't really call Mad World a favorite, not really sure why it's ranked as the pinnacle of his AI performances.

I wouldn't really call Mad World a favorite, not really sure why it's ranked as the pinnacle of his AI performances. I think it was the staging and lighting -- not just the singing. Adam's theatre background really helped him with his performances. He broke the mold. Before him, the contestants pretty well just stood at a mic and sang their songs.

But he was so good with his staging for every song. Must have been the lighting in this one lol.

Tho I loved that Mad World performance and Simon gave his first standing ovation to Adam, it was the Mad World in the long black coat that I loved even more. So dramatic and haunting. HA.
