I remember that in some interview many years ago Adam said something to the effect that if the fans knew how he acted with his friends, some of them might not like him that much… it’s hard to know who the “real” Adam is…

I don't act the same way at work, or around my family, as I do at home with my hubby. I don't act the same way when I'm with my sister alone as when I'm with my parents. We're all chameleons.

SophieB , I read both your comments on page 2/3 and I would be lying to say that I haven't felt similarly at times. However, I have to keep reminding myself that I am not queer and that neither A. nor O. are hurting me when they celebrate their Pride in a way that feels liberating to them, for however long that may last lol. I have a feeling that for Adam this chapter may be a new "awakening" of sorts and it looks like he and Oliver are feeding off of each other quite enthusiastically. I am not following any of that and when posts of them or their social circles pop up I just scroll. Lots of that lately. Adam is possibly living his best life right now but as I am not into "hedonistic liberation vibes", I'll pass. I hope for Adam that his community will eat it all up. I think it would be good for Adam that he gets the Broadway gig.

I'm sure there were a lot of people in that time period that were hoping it would pass and pass quickly. With all of the shit being rained down on the community, I'm not surprised there's a sense of rebellion and defiance in these gatherings.

Oh.. good point!! The 60's were before my time too, but the musical "Hair" comes to mind right now.

Yep, the '60s were all about "free love" and all that. And it wasn't focused on gays. The concept applied to everybody. It was a huge era of liberation in many ways, but of course, gays were pretty much still in the closet. Today's Pride Movement lets us know that now is their time for liberation, too. As the saying goes, "There is nothing new under the sun."

Remembering the 60's is definitely giving me a new perspective on queer liberation.
