First, how much money does an artist make from iTunes sales? Is Adam making good money from Afters and the individual songs? I don't understand any of it.
Second, artists often reinvent themselves when they want career longevity. Adam is doing just that. Makes his career more interesting and it's good for the fans, too. Keeps the interest up. Adam has become known not just as a singer but also as a really good media personality. Smart, well-spoken, witty, thoughtful. It all pays off over time even if the music itself is no longer the main thing. I would love for Adam to have a media-present career for his entire life, radio play or no radio play. Hardly anyone is making a ton of money from album, single sales or streaming, unless you are racking up some crazy numbers. The big money is made from touring, endorsements and other projects. Hit albums and singles give a lot of exposure and can have a major impact on touring and awards in various genres, tho. But lately we have heard about artists with hit songs (pop/rap) but their tours are not selling and they have had to cancel the tour or downsize. And country radio just rotates almost everyone, especially the males, into a #1 chart singles every week. But many of them remain unable to become household names or headline tours because so many have a #1. Some make it big tho and they are mostly the ones who get to perform on country award shows almost monthly it seems, lol. Pop lets only the same few reach the top. And they sorta just park there for weeks until they have another single to take the place of the last one. HA. I was always amazed that early in Adam's career, his tours were larger and more successful than his radio success. But he was getting just enough radio play to have his music heard so that helped him. And he did the rest and made the most of it, lol. It also worked in his favor that he was with major labels that could also give him radio exposure internationally. I just wish it could have been a bit wider, with more diverse music, and lasted longer so that he could have grown his audience and fanbase. But he was smart and did not rely on one basket of eggs.

There is a bit of comfort in knowing that other artists have trouble sustaining a touring cycle with every album. And some can't do it at all. Adam was lucky to start out very strong with his solo tours. I believe that his first solo tour after Idol made him a millionaire and was international, too. And yes, he got radio play early in the game. It's amazing how some long-time A-list artists have had to shorten or even cancel tours. And as you say, lurleene, touring is "where the money is." It's a tough business, for sure. Adam is extremely lucky to have gotten years of world-wide exposure with QAL. It's been priceless and still carries lots of weight for him. It has given him a lifetime of cred.
He's smart to get involved in different projects. He's as entertaining as a "celebrity" as he is as a singer.

No offence, Gaga can sing circles around Madonna! Her Pop Musica isnt my thing either but the Soundtrack to "born a Star" is great! Imho I'm Not the one to directly shake Things Up either...i do it my way... i've been pushed/nudged to be more girly...Well, i'm Just Not a girly girl, i have a burly Side. Regarding pride month: i'm deep in the Bavarian woods to hike and saw a pride foag today. We really have Made some progress No offense taken...not really a fan of either, but I agree that Gaga is a better singer overall. Wow, so happy to see Bavaria and Pride flags in the same sentence. I'm originally from Bavaria, love that part of the country and this makes me so happy. Progress indeed. Makes me miss my birth country. Don't get ahead of yourself, svca. One Pride flag only so far , but it's in the woods!! marionm, where did you see the flag? I will be in Bavaria (Bayern) in August and I would hike up a steep mountain or through miles and miles of forest trails to see it!

Jlo had to cancel an arena tour because of poor sales. And the young singer Tyla just canceled her tour. But she is only 22 and maybe it was a little too soon for her to try to headline. But when she won that Grammy and her single went #1 in the US and did well in multiple countries, I think her team jumped the gun on her touring interest. Tho her venues were not as big or her tour schedule as large as Adam's first solo tour, it still may have been too soon. And there are others having problems. And you are correct, Adam's first solo world tour tied with Daughtry at 2nd place behind Carrie, on the Forbes list of highest earning Idols at $6M, after expenses and before taxes.

I'm No sociologist but i feel quite confident in saying that Bavaria and Germany as a whole is making Progress. If IT's sexism, racism or homophobia, we still have a Long way to Go but the discussion is started...although we need to be careful and fierce, there are extremist rightwinged forces (in the Western Hemisphäre and other countries) that want to Push US in another direction. IT was in a small town called Waldhäuser near Lusen. Lets all Not forget that in 2008 "brokebackmountain" was still Just "the gay Cowboymovie"
