Well - I think I'm a bit disappointed. I thought all his promo work this album era was to promote him to the general public as Adam Lambert, artist - not just Adam Lambert, gay artist. A gay listening party just seems to pigeonhole him in the "gay" box. Don't like to see him limited in any way. I guess I'm wondering why his official listening party wouldn't envelope a general audience. So this means he will have an official gay listening party and an official straight listening party? I don't mean to sound stupid, but that doesn't sound right to me. :-/

I'm a long time lurker. I belonged to the old board for a short time, jus before it folded. I hope I'm not bad luck. Anyway, I did have to chime in to suggest that the listening party tonight would seem to be one geared toward gay media, and gay music professionals. Adam has been doing his radio promo, which I hope will get him on the radio. I think tonight is about getting OUT the word that Adam has some new music that can be/should be played in the gay clubs. I know that sixpackradio is a weekend show on OUTQ on Sirius, and some of the others at the party tonight have ties to the gay music and gay club scene. Getting your music played in the gay dance clubs can help a song move to pop radio. I think that's what Adam is doing tonight. Thanks, that's what I'd noticed reading through the threads, that all the tweeters had ties to the LGBT community, and there was no evidence of wider music industry peeps or writers. I don't think this necessarily means the album is finished (though waiting for more info from virg), and he may not have played all the tracks but a handful of them, including of course the one's of particular relevance to the community, Trespassing and OOL and maybe others. I think it's an important piece of getting buy-in and early buzz, akin to the articles in the Advocate and Out earlier in the year, it's great he's doing this. ETA: Guys this isn't a replacement for other listening parties, it's probably in addition. It's important for strategic promo and airplay reasons, as well as many others and no doubt for Adam personally as well. This is a natural area of support for Adam that has been mixed in response to him in the past, true, but look at all the courting of TPTB in his own community this year, he's clearly trying to rectify that.

BTIKM is playing right now in Chicago! It is the 1st spin though, because of the WWFM play earlier. So let's try for a 2nd spin for BTIKM around 11 Central! www.wtmx.com/UMixIt.php

It's a little disappointing, but (and don't anyone hate me) it may be the best they could do for now. Adam isn't Katy.

Let me say i will be disappointed too if the "only" promo DMG does is with gay media. I do not want to have him confined to the gay ghetto. But I do think that gay support is necessary for anyone aspiring to mainstream pop stardom, and Adam has to get more support from gay men than he has had in the past. (There's never been a problem with gay women.) As long as he gets on the cover of People magazine, I will not fault the media strategy. But if the only cover he gets is The Advocate, that would be a problem.

I was waiting for virg herself to reply but she said that Adam definitely said "It's Ready" during one of those question periods she attended. His words - out of his mouth. As for tonight's listening party - I'm going to assume it is just one of several which will be scheduled around Adam's promotional calendar.
