Under The Gun Review: HOLY SH!T: Check Out Adam Lambert’s Orwellian Video For “Never Close Our Eyes” HOLY SH!T: Check Out Adam Lambert’s Orwellian Video For “Never Close Our Eyes” May 29th, 2012 Grace Duffy www.underthegunreview.net/2012/05/29/holy-sht-check-out-adam-lamberts-orwellian-video-for-never-close-our-eyes/
Riding high on the success of his latest album Trespassing, Adam Lambert continues to claim his rightful place atop the pop world this week with the release of his official video for “Never Close Our Eyes.” The clip, which can be found below, borrows heavily from the story and ideals of Orwell’s classic novel, 1984, and features Lambert fighting for a free society.
If you somehow slept on Trespass and/or foolishly wrote Lambert off in the past, I cannot encourage you enough to give his latest material a spin. I have no doubts this album will be near the top of our Best of 2012 list, and if give it a chance, it’ll likely top yours as well.

98.1 CHFI: Erin & Mike Chat With Adam Lambert Toronto Ontario Canada 98.1 CHFI Erin & Mike Chat With Adam Lambert Posted by Jay, the web guy, in category Entertainment, Interviews, Music, May 29, 2012 5:02 pm www.chfi.com/2012/05/29/erin-mike-chat-with-adam-lambert/Erin Davis & Mike Cooper get a chance to sit down and talk to the American Idol superstar, Adam Lambert about stardom and his new album! Erin Davis Blog Tuesday, May 29, 2012 www.erindavis.com/journal_history.php#29052012
Just a Thought... What is success? It is a toy balloon among children armed with pins. [Gene Fowler]
Well, wasn't that a nice surprise!
Mike and I arose from our naps, put on our work faces again and headed back to our CHFI studios for 5 pm yesterday - all worth it for the chance to chat with multiple album seller (and 8th season runner-up on American Idol) Adam Lambert.
What a truly lovely guy. Sincere, frank, friendly and chatty, we talked about everything from being a rock star (he says he doesn't have that much money!) to what drove him to try out for Idol, to the twin joys/burdens of being somewhat of a banner bearer for gay artists. As he says, he doesn't always lead an exemplary life, but he is proud of the position he holds. And he wears it well.
Tall - 6' 1" - slim and reallllly handsome, Adam sports a killer coif, tasteful and chunky jewellery, greenish silver nail polish and an air of grace, style and confidence. Yes, he even smells good! Before the interview began, I asked what it was he was wearing (lovely tones of patchouli, which I find draws me in like a cartoon of a baking pie on a window sill) and he told me Loree Rodkin's Gothic I (as in "one"). It's yummy - or is it the man who makes the scent? Anyway, that's the insider scoop for Lambert fans! Not usually the kind of question I like to ask when we have a limited amount of time, but I had to; even Wikipedia had him as wearing Joop!, which he may well have been, but not yesterday. Did I tell you about his beautiful blue eyes (framed perfectly with dark lashes and sculpted brows)? The man is easy on the eyes, I'll tell you what.
His new album Trespassing sold 78,000 copies in the US, about 7300 in Canada its first week, and he's hoping to have as many hits from it as he did his debut CD For Your Entertainment. He's certainly hard working and deserves the success he's enjoyed, and which will undoubtedly continue to flow his way.
Adam will be singing this summer with Queen's surviving members in the UK and Europe and while his dream duet would be with the late Freddie Mercury, he didn't rule out teaming up with any of the current pop princesses dominating the charts these days. The future? He hopes always to be creating. And I can't disagree with that intention - for him, for us all. I hope you'll tune in after 8 am to hear our chat with Adam (and we'll rerun it on the weekend). In the meantime, there's a whole lot of funk to Trespassing, a lot of hot collaborations - he wouldn't come out and say whether he or Bruno Mars has the better hair - and music that Adam wrote and produced with fans' reactions at concerts in mind.
Hope you enjoy it. And we honestly do wish Adam every success. He's working hard, he's insanely talented and he deserves it all. What do we want from you, Adam? As much as you'll give. That'll be just fine.

The Guardian UK: New music: Adam Lambert – Never Close Our Eyes The Guardian UK New Music with Michael Craigg New music: Adam Lambert – Never Close Our Eyes The former American Idol runner-up seems destined for ubiquity with this Bruno Mars-penned, Dr Luke-produced banger www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2012/may/30/adam-lambert-never-close-our-eyes
With album sales dwindling on both sides of the Atlantic it's becoming increasingly important to get the first single right, no matter who you are or how successful you've been. When Beyoncé's Run the World (Girls) limped into the top 30 in America prior to her album 4 rumours started circulating that the LP would be delayed, while Christina Aguilera's Not Myself Tonight did so badly many people didn't even know that its parent album, Bionic, even existed. Late last year former American Idol runner-up and future (temporary) Queen frontman Adam Lambert chose the gloomy emo-ballad Better Than I Know Myself as the lead single from his second album Trespassing, initially due for release in America this March. The single peaked at No 76, the album was delayed by two months and this Bruno Mars-penned, Dr Luke-produced banger was selected as the second single. Last week Trespassing became Lambert's first No 1 album and, unfathomably, the first US No 1 album ever by an openly gay artist. Never Close Our Eyes' task will be to try and maintain that success, which shouldn't be a problem given its fizzing synths, pounding beats and monstrous chorus all seem precision-tooled for playlist ubiquity. In the video, Lambert is trapped in an experimental facility that looks like a cross between the orphanage in Annie and Lady Gaga's Bad Romance video.
• Trespassing is out on 2 July.

The Mirror UK: Adam Lambert makes history and releases new music video in the same week - not bad for a runner-up, is it? The Mirror UK Adam Lambert makes history and releases new music video in the same week - not bad for a runner-up, is it? American Idol star became first openly gay artist to top Billboard chart, watch the video to new single Never Close Our Eyes here By James Robertson | 30 May 2012 14:14 www.mirror.co.uk/3am/us-gossip/adam-lambert-is-first-openly-gay-853844
Remember the playground rhyme 'first's the worst, second's the best and third's the one with the hairy chest'?
Well, it might be making a comeback thanks to music talent shows on the telly.
American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert made history last week by becoming the first openly gay artist to achieve number one in the Billboard 200 album chart with his second studio release 'Trespassing'.
And today he's released the music video for his next single Never Close Our Eyes which features all of the trademark styles that Lambert is known for.
His spiky hair - fixed with Vo5 spray - and his unique emo style fit perfectly with the catchy tune that will undoubtedly continue his chart success.
The song is a bit of a sing-a-long while the video - where Lambert is trapped in an experimental facility and forced to chomp down on multi-coloured pills - has the style of Lady Gaga.
His album has already topped the US albums charts though it won’t be released in the UK until 2nd July.
Lambert told Instinct magazine: “As a community, we’re a little bit resistant to a gay male popstar ourselves.
"There’s something weird there. We’re very eager to celebrate a strong female. But to celebrate a fellow gay man – it gets catty sometimes."
Maybe contestants auditioning for the X Factor this year should try their best not to win the competition if they want to be rich and famous - and have a successful music career, obviously.
Matt Cardle won the competition in 2010 but parted ways with his record label last week after a very uneventful couple of years.
While third place One Direction, well, you know the story about their enormous worldwide success right?
Adam Lambert comes to the UK next week and will be performing alongside X Factor runners-up JLS at the Rays of Charity event at the Royal Albert Hall on 7th June and a solo gig at G-A-Y on 9th June.
The single Never Close Our Eyes is on sale 24th June.
Oh, and if any American Idol trivia buffs are reading then it was Kris Allen who won the show in 2009 and according to the rhyme it's third place Danny Gokey who has the hairy chest.

Toronto Sun: Lambert Proud Of New Album Toronto Sun Lambert Proud Of New Album BY JANE STEVENSON, QMI AGENCY FIRST POSTED: WEDNESDAY, MAY 30, 2012 03:04 PM EDT | UPDATED: WEDNESDAY, MAY 30, 2012 05:26 PM EDT www.torontosun.com/2012/05/30/lambert-proud-of-successful-new-album
Former American Idol runner up Adam Lambert couldn’t be happier than his sophomore disc, the funk-and-dance influenced Trespassing, debuted at No. 1 in Canada and the U.S. last week.
“I think it was a real accomplishment that the album was able to chart that high without a big single,” says a smiling Lambert, 30, glammed up in black and white tie-dyed, torn pants, silver jewelry and a skunk-like blond streak on the top of his jet black hair.
“So it’s kind of a grassroots, kind of fan movement. (I was) very surprised. I mean, I knew that the fans were going to want a copy but I didn’t know what numbers we were dealing with.”
Trespassing, whose second single, Never Close Our Eyes is just out now, dropped to No. 7 in Canada and No. 11 in the U.S. this week and Lambert says he probably won’t tour until 2013.
But he also made history as the first openly gay singer to have an album debut at No. 1.
“It feels really great,” says Lambert, who’s also written an intimate and melancholy song, Outlaws Of Love, about LGBT discrimination on Trespassing.
But, at some point, Lambert wants his sexuality to no longer be a part of the story.
“It’s an interesting journey being identified as ‘the openly gay pop guy’ because I feel like it’s a privilege to be an example of somebody that’s not making any apologies for it and to try and give young people the feeling of pride and the idea that they can reach their dreams if they want them,” he explains. “But the flipside to it is that it does get a bit objectified, mainly by the media. I think this milestone of reaching No. 1 and being the first hopefully it makes the statement: That it really doesn’t matter. That we just need to move on.”
In fact, Lambert moves on to London next week to begin two-week rehearsals with Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor for six European dates together in July.
Lambert first performed We Are The Champions with Queen in 2009 on the eighth season of American Idol’s finale on which he was the runner-up and then that tune and two more songs on the 2011 MTV European Music Awards.
“They’re really, really cool guys, total class acts.”
Lambert adds he’s not nervous at the prospect of touring with Queen for the first time but admits “there’s going to be some work involved.
“But I’m looking forward to it. I think I’ve worked so hard and been so focused on my project it’ll be nice to step into somebody else’s world for a minute again. It’ll be a creative sidestep and it’s a nice sweet, short, little commitment.”
