Ok, this one is beyond epic. The down, down, down bit reminds me of something which I can't place. If this doesn't get used for TV/Movies then I don't know what those people need....
It feels like a whole movie sound track in one song. It's like it goes on for a really long time and I mean that is a VERY good way.

I have listened to this all day - it has a tight hold on me and I agree, the down, down, down is making me think of something - floating out there waiting to be found. Whatever. I think this is my favorite of them all

Will be interesting to see if we ever get to hear this live. The octave leaping vocals would be tricky ato pull off live I think. But is close to being my fav song on the album, it certainly up there. The build is spectacular...

Can't praise this song enough. It feels like a journey with so many twists and turns and then it accumulates in those huge tribal drums, guitars, gang vocals and ADAM all coming together for that incredible finale! I love it so

I absolutely LOVE this song....does anybody else think of Bad Things from True Blood when you hear the low register opening verse? (Just me??)
This is the song I keep replaying.

Just had my DH listen to it for the first time. He thinks it sounds like "In a Big Country". Anyone else hear that?

For me, this track shines so bright because it just might be an artifact from a Parallel Universe. 8-) As mentioned already in the news thread, I believe that Runnin' gives us a glimpse of the original direction of the album before it became the Trespassing we know (we could call it the Pre-Pharrell Age). While this song is my clear favorite at this point, this fact is in no way diminishing the quality of the CD. On the contrary, Runnin' shines like a diamond because it is embedded into the gold that is the rest of this magnificent work. I truly believe an album where all songs were pop-rock, even if of the same quality as Running, would be much less impressive. (Funny embarrassing story - when I heard WWFM for the first time, my immediate reaction was "Filler! No wonder Pink did not include it in her album..." Imagine my surprise when it became a hit! But then again, I also thought Roxette's "The Look" would be a one-hit wonder in the late 80s, so what do I know... : ) I am really not hoping for a pop-rock album #3 filled with WWFM-inspired tracks and I am happy we dodged the bullet with album #2! But I am ecstatic that this gem survived as a Bonus Track and I cannot stop replaying it. Interestingly enough, the imagery of the BTIKM video is what comes to my mind when listening to Runnin - Dark Adam, with the allusion of a loaded gun pressed to the lips which turns out to be a whiskey flask, brooding, "throwing a fit", then crawling out of the "bottom of the bottle" and literally rising up with The Voice as his altimeter. The musical line is like the climb on what someday might become "that optimistic vine" we know from the title track. The important thing is Dark Adam is realizing the futility of Running From His Heart. He is rediscovering and saving Light Adam in the process and he is "coming alive" around the 2:32 mark which is of course the Point Of Total Epicness where I normally get my goosebumps! (Probably in part because it reminds me of my favorite music outside of the GNAFL world - German Power Metal : ) The song finishes abruptly and I nearly see a "To Be Continued" sign at the end of a movie with a cliffhanger ending... A music video might never happen, but I would love to see that! I am not holding my breath to ever hear this or CLYG live either, but if it should happen, I will be a Very Happy Man!
