This song really grew on me. I wasn't super impressed from the snippet but the production has made it one of my favorite fast songs on the album. I think if NCOE does well then it would be the perfect follow up single.

EvokeOnline: My favorite track on the dance/funk side of the album is the amazing, dare I say perfect, “Cuckoo”. Ever since Adam premiered the song live a few weeks back I have waited ever so patiently for the official version. The song is laced in undeniably catchy production and contains some of the best lines found in the entire album. Adam advices listeners to “walk that walk like you don’t give a f***” and believe me, I listened.evokeonline.com/music-review/adam-lamberts-trespassing-track-by-track-review/

To me, Cuckoo is a yummy confection that reminds me so much of the dance-pop hits I grew up with in the ‘80s – in a good way! That music was flamboyant, fun, colorful, soulful, and full of carefree joy. “The crazy train is ready to roll,” Adam sings, and this time, there is no deeper message but, “I was put on earth to help you have the best time possible. Let’s dance and go have fun!” Cuckoo comes across as a pure, rollicking tune that burns with winsome rock-and-roll fire in the real old style. And as we’ve come to expect, Adam’s sweet, soulful voice soars on bubbly lyrics that are part self-empowerment and part psychedelic babble, invested with emotion that keeps the song fresh and involving rather than vacuous as it might be in the hands of another singer. Adam says he already has ideas about a video and I can’t imagine the kooky good fun we have in store if that ever happens. This cutie is simply a delight. I dream of it being a single and a huge hit! Let’s party til they take us away!

EQMusic: Cuckoo : Alright. This song. I've been ranting and raving about this song since January and have been DYING to hear it again. It's a massive dance song with a chorus that's part pop, part 80s hair metal. If ever there was a song that perfectly showcases Adam's vocals while still maintaining an insane pop energy, it's this one. Song of 2012? I would say so. www.eqmusicblog.com/2012/05/album-review-trespassing-by-adam-lambert.html~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AfterElton: 2. CUCKOO "Walk that walk like you don't give a f*ck." One of the most high-energy, beat-driven songs on the album, there's no way you can't flash back to the 80's while listening, thankfully. Best Lyric: "I'm swinging off of my hinges, I'm cocked and I'm ready to go"www.afterelton.com/music/2012/05/adam-lambert-trespassing-review~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Billboard: 2. Cuckoo - Lambert leaps from MJ to Daft Punk, with a waterfall of synthesizers raining down upon his chest-thumping party plans. The line "Gonna get out of this straitjacket!" smacks of double entendre. www.billboard.com/new-releases/adam-lambert-trespassing-track-by-track-1007060962.story#/new-releases/adam-lambert-trespassing-track-by-track-1007060962.story~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Boners & Bitches: Cuckoo and Shady both have beats that I just have to listen to. My biggest process when listening to music is hearing the beats and instrumental first, then lyrics afterwards. These two bring the heavy hitting beats and lyrics to get down too. I¡¯m pretty sure Cuckoo will be my drunk summer anthem.bonersandbitches.tumblr.com/post/22962765035/album-review-adam-lambert-trespassing~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ USA Today: Cuckoo (Adam Lambert, Bonnie McKee Anne Preven, Josh Abraham, Oliver Goldstein). Where Adam's kitchen-sink approach with For Your Entertainment meant it had some Europop, some glam rock, some dramatic ballads and a little of just about everything else, he's more precisely focused, lyrically and musically, on Trespassing. Like much of the album, Cuckoo is built for the dance floor, with EDM's synthesizers and buzzy bottom end. Adam's vocal abilities add a new dimension, though: Listeners can lock into the beats or the singing or both. Here, the result's a 21st-century synthpop.content.usatoday.com/communities/idolchatter/post/2012/05/adam-lamberts-trespassing-a-track-by-track-review/1#.T7KU3L_HtMp~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pop Messiah: The onslaught of Glamitude doesn't stop there as the album heads from one banger into another. Next up is the BRILLIANT "Cuckoo." When performed live this track sounded very pop-rock but here it's found to be a gorgeously produced dance track that exudes the 1980s triumphantly and even defiantly. (Those vocal arrangements scream 80s hair rock, don't they?) I dare say, if "Cuckoo" doesn't have its day at the top of the charts then there is something wrong in the world. I'm not being melodramatic.popmessiahblog.wordpress.com/2012/05/08/judgement-day-pop-heaven-or-hell-adam-lamberts-trespassing/

"If we had to pick 10 celebrities to party with, Adam Lambert would most definitely make the list. From what we hear, he really knows how to throw a party. In this interview Adam talks to @jordans_life about club culture influenced the song Cuckoo and he sets the record straight about some Olympic rumours."

The Sound Bath: Adam Lambert’s Trespassing: the vocal reviewPosted on July 12, 2012 by soundbath The next song, Cuckoo, is a fabulous club dance song which I can just imagine being played in the clubs in Ibiza! This song takes us even further into the electro-pop that Adam says he likes to listen to. Again, whilst still singing legato lines, because he’s emphasising the rhythm and jumping off the consonants, it sounds as though Adam is singing in a much more staccato manner than we’re used to hearing from him. What is interesting is that even in a song like this, which clearly doesn’t present him with any real vocal challenges, he continues to sing properly, moving the phrases forward musically with his voice. And here again, the rock-type riffs is an unexpected and delightful surprise. Read more: soundbath.wordpress.com/2012/07/12/adam-lamberts-trespassing-the-vocal-review/
